This place is always good we have stopped here 3-4 times after Holiday World. I had the Rudy's burrito and it was delicious chicken is very flavorful. My hubby had the Ferdinand quesadilla fajita steak said it was very good and steak seasoned very well. My hubby also got a taco Al pastor and said it was the best thing he had loved it. Cheese dip was ok but could use some more seasoning. Sweet tea is very good. Staff is always great. Place is nice and clean they also have a great patio area. I would give it a 4.2. read more

Good little small town Mexican restaurant. Subtle decorations in the seating area. Nice but simple, lots of seating for a small town but they had tons of people eating there. They also have a really nice patio area which helps it not feel crowded. Our servers were quick and helpful but never refilled out drinks or replenished our chips. The chips and salsa were ok. The salsa was tomatoey with some spices but no heat at all. Maybe just some cilantro. The chips weren't very fresh but still pretty good. We got Arroz con Pollo. It was good cheesy, lots of chicken with some flavoring we also got a mushroom quesadilla. It was good with tons of mushrooms! My wife got a margarita. She said it was good and it was cheap but it was a little watery. A nice dinner in a small town. read more

Service officially disappoints, they thought we were passing thru tourists from the amusement park and we are regulars. The rudest and giant eye rolling waitress was who we got. She goes in the mean category after snapping at us, when we asked for the kids meals with chicken, clearly asked chicken and cheese only. She said we had to have shredded, we agreed and said chicken and cheese only. Whew, we got waitress huffs with more eye rolls when when failed to understand shredded chicken comes with onions and green peppers cause what small child eats that, nope so back it went after being told that was what we ordered. She never returned to get us new drinks or check on us, which she did not care about us. Never came with a check, we did track her and she ripped it out of her book and lined thru the margaritas 3.99(on Monday) twice, thought she may be making better on this rudeness or maybe making it look like that was her tip, cause we did not leave our 20%. Mexican food is one of our favorites, so typically we judge these places harder than others. With that being said, this place was amazing! The salsa is fresh and the chips are warm. I loved that the salsa came out in a separate container. We enjoy our salsa a little bit spicier than most, and upon request the server brought a spicier version and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing and the portion size was generous. My husband got a michelada and he loved it. The place had your typical Mexican restaurant atmosphere, and was clean and comfortable. 10/10 recommend. read more

Mexican Apparently this cuisine is big in this part of Indiana, so we decided to grab some Mexican for lunch. Place was pretty empty for lunch, but it gets crowded at dinner and there are plenty of tables available. Service was quick and efficient - salsa and chips came right out and we got our orders in. Food came out super-fast.... too fast actually. Steam table food is pretty much what we got. As for the food: refried beans were bland and on the cooler side - they should at least mix the steam table trays before serving. Yellow rice was basic, nothing to write home about and certainly not made from scratch. Tamale was meh with hardly anything to it. My friend had fajitas and had the same issues with the sides- cool / tasteless. It was steaming, so there is that. My family visited this restaurant after a day trip to Holiday World. Our server was so attentive and kind, the food was delicious and SO FAST, and the prices were great. I had the shrimp tacos, my children shared nachos, and my husband had a delicious dish with cactus and several different types of meat. The guacamole, salsa, and queso were also delicious. OMG quite a find. Excellent Mexican food. I'm visiting from the West coast. First off the service was superb. The chips and salsa were very good. To me that's always a tell of any Mexican restaurant. Was driving from Cincinnati to St. Louis and saw a sign for this place on the highway. Figured it was a good time to get gas and eat. The place is a bit far from the exit but not by too much. The parking lot had a weird smell in the air. Definitely not pleasant, but it wasn't coming from the restaurant so I went in. The place inside is nice and decently well attended. They walked me to a table and shortly brought out chips and salsa. Honestly, THE BEST CHIPS EVER! Not too greasy, all consistently color, and lovely flavor. The salsa was also good. We stopped here on our way home to Fort Wayne Indiana from Holiday World. We decided to stop here rather than wait til we were in Jasper. No regrets at ALL. The cost for 5 people was $67. WOOHOO literally!! Finally a place you can call true Mexican in Southern Indiana! Put it this way...I eat here WAY too much! Not only is the food excellent, plated well and served true to Mexican style cooking (by this I don't mean processed cheese sauces over everything, flour tortillas with fajitas, etc) but the service is friendly, the restaurant is beautifully decorated and the food is served quickly regardless of how full the restaurant is. Although the menu is extensive, pay special attention to the specials menus on on the table. Not only are they unique but they're also a very healthy option with grilled meats, fishes, veggies and THE best white Mexican rice I've ever had! I would also like to comment on the outstanding flavor of their chorizo! Any dish you get flavored with it will make you stop and savor! I highly highly recommend this place. It's worth the drive from any nearby town. Don't even bother trying the other local "Mexican" restaurants. This is the only restaurant worthy of serving true Mexican food! YUM!!! My son had a cheese quesadilla from the kids menu and the cheese was barely melted and soaked with grease. I-64 in Indiana and Illinois really has a lack of good restaurants to stop at along the highway, if you don't want fast food. We were getting hungry and just wanted a simple sit-down restaurant and were getting impatient. We saw Agaves at this exit and decided to go for it. It's a bit far from the highway - about 2 miles. It kinda feels like you went too far out of the way, in fact I almost turned around and gave up. Don't! This is some of the best Mexican food I've had recently. We were craving some vegetables so between me and my wife, we got the Pollo Ixtapa and the Pollo El Arrayan. Service was great, we had chips and salsa on our table in less than 60 seconds, and our order was taken as soon as we needed. The food arrived in no more than 10 minutes, and was super fresh and really tasty. And since you can pay at the counter, you can get in and out of here really quickly if you need to.
