I started by ordering a burrito, like I usually do at a Mexican restaurant. But because I'm in Indiana, I always need to explain to the server that I want a burrito with no sauce on it, because for some reason, Mexican restaurants in Indiana put sauce on their burritos. I have to do the whole thing where I hold up an imaginary burrito in my hands and take a bite. Like, look: This is me holding a cylindrical food item called a burrito. Notice the lack of sauce and the fact that I'm able to pick it up with my bare hands? That's what I want. A burrito that I can pick up and eat. (Which makes one wonder: How, then, are burritos different from enchiladas, in the minds of these restaurant owners? If you put sauce on a tortilla filled with meat and other ingredients, aren't you creating an enchilada?) The lady who was my server waved her hand and goes, "Yeah, yeah," indicating to me that she knew what a burrito was, and that I didn't have to explain any further. All right. Can you guess what happens next? Yes: She brings out a "burrito" with some sort of red sauce on it! Yes, all is right in Indiana, folks, don't worry: A burrito was indeed served with sauce on it, and the status quo was preserved. I got the burrito for my children, who promptly questioned why there was red stuff on it and told me they weren't going to eat it. So I performed some mom magic and scraped most of it off and turned it into as real of a burrito as I could. As for me, I got the Mexican chicken tacos, which came with cilantro and onion. They looked good, but they had that unctuous taste of butter. Was the chicken cooked in butter? That would have been an unusual choice for a Mexican restaurant. For a small business, they're pretty good in handling a huge number of customers. There were 21 of us then a few group of families came. The place was full (approx 60 seated). Wifey got the Veggitarian dinner #4 (one bean burrito, one quesadilla, one chalupa. ), it was very filling, big serving, somewhat comparable to other authentic Mexican place. I got the Steak Jalisco and man, it has shrimp, a T bone steak covered with cheese, combined with the underlying sauce, it was a delightful meal. All of our friends enjoyed their respective orders and were glad we all dined here. A very good gem in a small town. A very good place to dine after a long, fun day at Holiday World. read more

Excellent salsa. Small town restaurant feel. Busy location. I think there were a lot of Holiday World guests who make, made this a must stop. Unfortunately, the staff were extremely busy so the wait to order was a bit long but definitely well worth the wait. Kids and I were in no hurry so it really wasn't a problem. I had the chicken on the beach, chicken, rice and cheese - yummy! My son had a ground beef taco and my daughter had rice, beans and a enchilada - she really like hers as she finished her entire plate, which doesn't happen often. First off the customer service wasn't good at all. Waiter didn't check on us once after getting our order, not even to refill our drinks, or asked if we needed anything. the beans were like water to be honest, the beef in the enchiladas and burritos had barely any meat in them and had little to no flavor. The place smelled like a moist walled basement. The staff seemed cheerless although I was not expecting that from a country restaurant anyway. There were no paper towels in the restroom So over all customer service was poor. About food. We ordered shrimp with rice and beans 1. The beans were spoiled by adding unnecessary junk in it. 2. Still a fan but do NOT order the "chiles relleno"! I was SO SO disappointed!! Chile rellenos are traditionally poblano peppers stuffed with jack cheese, dipped in egg batter and deep fried with enchilada sauce over the top. NOT what I got! After waiting for a long time because they forgot to get it out of the oven I got... some sort of meat and cheese concoction!! No really! It was ground beef mixed with melted cheese - kind of reminded me of some type of dip - with cheese broiled on the top in a single serving dish. It took about 1 second for me to dig through it to find there was not a chile to be seen!! Actually my husband pointed out to me what looked like 1 chopped pepper in the mix, but that was all folks!!! Best Non-Franchise Place to Eat in Dale, IN. We had a bad run-in with the lousy Chinese buffet in Dale, and we were thinking of avoiding anything to eat in Dale unless it was a franchise. We did not want Wendy's or Denny's so we went into town to eat subway. When we got there, it was an hour and a half before closing and they had scraps for bread so we go "Lets eat mexican" We went to Los DOS Charros and it was fantastic!!! Hot food, fast friendly service. The waiter knew exactly what we wanted when we described what we wanted, and pointed it out on the menu. Even though it was a bit later at night, people were coming in still into this restaurant in a sleepy little town like dale. When we come back to town for summer, we will eat here again. We stopped here on our way home from a work trip. Too early to grab lunch in Louisville so decided to stop here and glad we did. Lunch wasn't too busy and service was fast and friendly. Salsa and chips were tasty. I got the lunch chimichanga with beans for $5.99! I accidentally received rice, but the waitress was really nice and offered to bring beans. We stopped in after visiting Holiday World, before heading home. They were very friendly, fast with everything, the food was very good, and I will come back the next time we are in the area or even passing through. We were going to be driving and weren't able to partake in any adult beverages, but the ones I saw other people order, looked really good. We stopped here while on vacation from Texas. This was one of the best experiences I've had at a Mexican restaurant. Their "chicken on the beach" dish was delicious! I am so very picky, but I loved my whole meal. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his big burrito. The salsa was also very good, though not spicy, and it was even much better than at many Mexican restaurants in Texas. We will definitely stop here if we ever go back through Dale! read more

The food is ok. But the girl who answers the phone and takes the order is extremely rude every time. I feel like she's mad at me for ordering and always tells me I can't get the things I want to order I understand there is an extra charge and that's ok but she still tells me they can't do that. ? I mean How hard is it to substitute beans. Seriously. And she tells me it's Gona be really Long wait times. And it never is. I called. We ordered the meal for two with burrito, chips and queso and chill relno. They brought us flour tortilla with ground beef and salsa with cheese on top, and a corn tortilla with ground beef, cooked salsa and cheese on top. No chille....the ground beef was flavorless. All in all the only okay part of the meal was the grilled chicken they gave my daughter, and the table salsa with warmed chips. While traveling we used Yelp to find a place for lunch. There weren't many choices in Dale, Indiana so we chose Mexican and were pleasantly surprised. The food was hot and fresh and not overly spicy. As someone else mentioned, the chiles relenos were a surprise, not a stuffed poblano but rather a hot ground beef and cheese dish, but very good. I used it as a dip with the fresh warm chips.
