We went through the drive thru of the location off HWY 69 on Little York Rd. The drive through is interesting and I noticed this to be to the process in multiple locations....they have 2 lanes that they stack their cars in. This allows them to take more orders and they kind of stage everyone in the 2 lanes. If you are in the lane closest to the building, they are able to hand you your food. But they also have workers that run food to each car as they are ready. It did appear to keep things moving, but not always. In my case, I got all of my food before the car in front of me. So I had to wait for him to get his food before I could leave. The staff. Of all the places we visited in Texas in our 2 week there, I raved about how nice the people are. That was not the case here at Whataburger. The young lady that took my order outside in the drive-through did not look happy to be there. She never smiled and every time I asked for an item, she replied with " Is that it?", which coming from a Customer Service background is just so rude and uninviting. When we pulled up to get our food, the guy that was running the food orders to all the cars was equally as unpleasant. Just not happy to be at work. Ok, the food. The Philly is a small submarine roll that is light and packed with meat which also happened to be very hot. The menu says the cheese is Swiss, but it is obviously not 100% natural Swiss and there are no holes. It also leaves a stickiness in your mouth like other American cheeses. It's likely a Swiss- American blend. Service is excellent here and the cashier is a true character and reminded me a little of Damon Wayans. Considering the cheese they use, I personally prefer the philly over at Lenny's on the west side of Humble. If they had provolone as an option then I would certainly bump it up because their bread here is pretty good and light. On future visits, I will definitely have to try their burgers, especially the 1lb burger and the Texas Monthly burger, as well as the steak fingers and chicken fried steak.
