A few years back, I happened to have a coffee at a McDonald's in Hempstead. And it was delicious. And I was scratching my head, wondering "is there something in the Hempstead water that makes the coffee so good?" Or is it the filtration system for the water they use for their soft drinks and other beverages? I was later to learn that McDonald's has a contract with a very large coffee roaster that tries to do it right and not over roast and to use quality beans. But at the time, back then, I went back with some gallon jugs and filled it up with water from the McDonald's in order to do a taste test in my own home to find out if there was something in the Hempstead water that had the perfect mineral balanced for good coffee. And now, today, I am heading back to the Hempstead McDonald's in order to do a follow up taste test all of these years later. I will probably pick up a black diamond watermelon while I am in Hempstead also Coffee was bad. Burned tasting. They brought me a second cup. Also bad. I fell victim to one of those Tik Tok videos where the person shows that all three sizes of McDonalds Fries are identical. So I tested it today. The engineer in me wanted real data. My previous comments on Hempstead water and coffee follow: But a few months back I happened to have a drip coffee at the McDonalds in Hempstead and it was really good. I wondered if maybe the minerals content of Hempstead water contributed to that. We all know that coffee flavor can be affected by water mineral content. So, on my road trip yesterday (see previous posting), I stopped off and filled up some bottles from the McDonalds faucet. Today, I ran some coffee using the Hempstead water and the coffee tasted pretty damn good! Is it Hempstead water? Is McDonald's filtering and making their own water for their coffee and soft drink machines? Anyone know? Still empirical. No science to back this up though, that is, to verify the mineral content. Yes, you read that right--a live parasite in something I was supposed to eat. This is not just disgusting, it's a MAJOR health violation and a danger to every single person who eats here. In the past few years, we feel service and quality, and value honestly, has taken a deep dive. Today, I was pleasantly surprised that the McDonald's in Hempstead was fantastic! Drive through was so fast! The ladies at the window were friendly, funny and fast! Fries were perfectly hot and salted, burger was the best fast food burger I have had in years. Horrible customer service. When I asked for a cup of water at the window, the employee, Taylor, gave me such an attitude, and her disrespectful tone was unacceptable. Taylor hit her leg as she told me and did not ask me to pull around to the front as someone would bring it around. McDonald's definitely does not have employees like Chick-fil-A A who respect and treat you with the utmost respect and make you feel like a valued customer. This is the primary reason I don't visit McDonald's anymore--poor quality of food to match the poor quality of customer service. read more

Went into this place today starting in the restroom to wash my hands. Well, there were roaches crawling all around the stall and the sink basin. When I told the clerk, she just shrugged and walked away. Wow!! If there are roaches visible in the daytime in an area not associated with food, I hate to think what it looks like in the kitchen. Typically crap ass McDonald's. Order is always wrong; coffee is prob the worst I have EVER had. Tables are dirty and prices ain't even that cheap. I'd recommend breakfast paradise across the street. Won't be coming back. read more

Decided on McDonald's for breakfast this morning and pulled up their app. I loaded my coupon and went thru drive thru. Let her know I had a coupon and when I drive up I asked the lady if I can use more than 1 coupon she simply said just make 2 purchases and there's no problem. This lady by the way was extremely professional and courteous respectful and polite. I ordered a steak egg and cheese bagel no onions with extra breakfast sauce. I also ordered the 2 for 4 dollar egg and cheese Mcmuffin with sausage. No issues with ordering nor paying that whole experience was extremely pleasant this particular visit. Drove up to the second window for pickup and Asked the young lady to make sure there was extra sauce on the sandwich and she came back and said that they don't carry that sauce. I Let her know that I had this sandwich here a few month's back and they had it then. The female manager had come to the window and said they don't carry the sauce nor do they promote it in any way. I Let her know that I just had this sandwich a few month's back and that you guys just charged me for the extra sauce. In disbelief she asked me, "really?". I handed her the receipt and she replied well we haven't carried that sauce in over a year,which was a lie because I found out that the other McDonald's I have to choose from, in my location, didn't carry the sauce and that's the reason I go to this particular McDonald's because they do. The other store will even tell you to go to this McDonald's for the breakfast sauce. Had it there several times in this past year. So I told her i wouldn't eat the sandwich without the sauce and would like a refund. She grunted like an animal performed the refund procedure we signed the receipt and she then sarcastically says" Have a nice day" and followed up with shutting the window in my face. Quite the difference from one end of the McDonald's to the other. Someone should promote the drive thru teller to manager and bust the manager back down to parking lot attendant. We get home and find that our sausage egg and cheese mcmuffins had ham instead of sausage. Couldn't eat those, though the dogs loved them. Both these McDonald's stores here in Hempstead Texas are now the places we go for our dog's treats. Par for the course though. Found out both stores run by the same man that carries the same attitude as this female manager we encountered today. It puzzles me why people would just spit lies out so easily, especially from a management position. My whole family has been frequenting both these McDonald's for a few year's now and we already know which McDonald's has what. She could have come up with something a little more believable than we haven't served that sauce in over a year. Not to worry everyone. The jack in the box right there at 290 and 1488 has exceptionally good food and the manager is awesome. Too bad for McDonald's they just lost a whole family of 8.
