This location is S-L-O-W. It doesn't matter if you choose the drive-thru or carryout, prepare to wait at least 10 minutes. I chose the drive-thru last time I went and it took forever. All I ordered was one hash brown and a small McCafe mocha. When I got to second window to grab my food, I had to wait. When I did finally get my coffee, it tasted horrible. The mocha is supposed to come with whipped cream and have chocolate in it and this one had neither. Too bad I had already driven away. Bottom line: Don't order coffee from this location. OK, I gave a McDonald's five stars? Let's face it: we're talking a fast food outlet here, not a top-rated white-linen restaurant. I am comparing it to other fast food places in the vicinity. If this is the basis, my experience was five-star. Breakfast, 9am, Wednesday morning. Walked in from across the river, fine sunny day, 63 degrees. Already in a good mood when I entered. Was greeted by a cashier even before I had my sunglasses off. I ordered my usual - egg mcmuffin, medium strawberry-banana smoothie, water cup - and was allowed to swipe my own credit card (don't have to worry about prying eyeballs on my numbers). Order came out even before I had time to fill my cup with ice and water. Can't beat that. Food was its usual consistent almost tasty, but at least you know exactly what you are going to get: no surprises like you might get at other chains. Restaurant employs one worker to solely clean behind customers. Another is outside spraying the lot and emptying garbage cans. Lots of business, yet the place is clean. We are McDonald's junkies because everyone in the family can find something they like. We have been in the good, the bad and the ugly. We were in town and stopped for a quick bite around 3:30 on a Thursday. The food was fresh and lightening fast. The folks working the counter were polite and efficient-even gave me eye contact-which I find non existent in today's fast food world. In the morning the manager was very helpful & very kind. At night though, only the drive through was open & my group of 4 friends did not have a car. We proceeded to try the drive through by walking through which did not work(which we understand) BUT the way they went about it was terrible. They ran outside screaming at us "We already told you once we won't take your order. Get out of line so we can serve other orders. You need a car to order, go find yourself a car." She had not told us we could not order before. We then found some friends who had a car & when we approached the window she ignored us for a good 5 min. Her tone was very unwelcoming. Constant problems with mobile order and when you talk to a manager so you don't get double charged again they don't say anything and walk away keeping you wondering what your suppose to do , I called the corporate number and after being on hold for 15 minutes I finally get a hold of a representative that tells me she will transfer me to someone else that could help. This is by far the absolute worst McDonald's I have ever been to in my entire life. The staff does not care if they get your order completely wrong. They do not care if you have to wait in the drive through for 30 minutes. I think of all the times I have come to this location (and this is the loction nearest my house), they have only gotten my order correct once! And all the other times they have gotten it wrong, the situations were never fixed. Let me give you one example of how bad this is. I once ordered a double cheeseburger, no mustard. I received a double cheeseburger, NO MEAT! Which I guess doesn't even make it a double cheeseburger. Just bread and random toppings. AND, they put mustard on it. Isn't that funny? ALWAYS the worst service of any McDonalds in Covington. It is so close to the bridges into Cincinnati I tell myself, today will be different, when I really need a cup of coffee but no NEVER better! I can't tell you how many times I've been ask to pull up and wait to have a specialty coffee delivered to me after a 10-15 minute wait. This location is usually not very good but today was it. That's it. This location is consistently BAD. Today started off there as usual. Not many customers inside the store but the employees were panicking as if a school bus of kids had just mobbed them. I waited my turn to order and when I got to the register I had to yell my order over several alarms going off in the kitchen. Accompanying the chaos was who I assumed to be the shift manager yelling at people about the alarms, and people yelling back that they didn't know what was going on and that something was wrong. Okay, fine. I got through ordering and began my wait. Over five minutes passed and I finally got my order: a large fry, a medium fry (but I ordered and paid for a small, good job), a cheeseburger, and a Frappucino. The fries tasted old. OLD. They were hot, but old. I needed salt because they needed some help. There was one salt packet left in the condiments area (the floor of which was covered with trash), and then I decided I needed ketchup. The lid on the metal ketchup container was not properly attached to the container. The pump on the lid barely worked. I had to wonder, since in pumping myself ONE paper cup of ketchup the lid came off at least six times, how much time, cumulatively, had the ketchup spent lidless? I went and started to eat my fries and I decided that I wanted to order something extra. I went back up to order a veggie wrap and that was an ordeal at the register. The manager was, I guess, training the girl on the register, and that's okay. What bothered me is that they could not the hell get the order in correctly, the manager didn't know I wanted no meat and I was still having to yell at them, and they were having to yell at me, because alarms were still going off in the kitchen. I ordered it to go figuring I could eat it at home later. After over another five minutes I got the wrap. I'm not easily bothered by these kinds of things. I'm usually pretty chill. But what brings me to Yelp tonight is this: When I decided to eat my wrap five hours later, about fifteen minutes ago, at home, I reached into the bag and I became bitter all over again. I opened the suspiciously light-weight box the wrap came in and immediately took a picture. I was holding a flour tortilla with about ONE HANDFUL of lettuce and a couple chunks of cucumber and a scant amount of sauce. I got about one third of the wrap that I would get at a McDonalds that gives one flying **** what they're doing. I would also have gotten salad mix and tomatoes and cheese in it. Their 800# is only available until 7pm. I will call them tomorrow. I have also sent messages to corporate and to the store itself. I'm hoping that the fact that I don't have a receipt isn't going to be a problem. I rarely eat from McDonalds anyway but all the other stores I go to manage to keep themselves together. This McDonalds is bad and it always has been. We only went to it because we were heading to Devou Park and it was along the way. NEVER. AGAIN. I'd rather eat gas station food than deal with with this store again. As a matter of fact in the past I have opted to go to Speedway for food instead. And that's what I'll do next time. P.S. This is the absolute worst McDonald's I've ever been to. Pulled into the drive thru at 2:15am. Went to their second lane as there was one car in the order lane and realized there was a sign on the window stating the lane was closed. No big deal, I pulled around the building and by that time another car had pulled in behind the first car so I had 2 cars ahead of me before ordering. It took 15 minutes before I placed my order. Mind you there were only 2 cars in line waiting to pay/get their food. After ordering, it took 20 minutes for me to pay and get my food. No apology for the long wait and didn't receive a "you're welcome" after I thanked her for my food. I asked the employee in the window for a receipt and she closed the window on me mid sentence. I drove away pissed off and when I got home (2 minutes from the McDonalds) my large fry was cold and my burger was incorrect. Pissed off is an understatement.
