Friendly service and good food BUT the reason for the low rating is the App. I ordered using the mobile App. There was a system problem and I later learned the App placed 2 orders and so was charged for 2 orders. When I called the store they said there was nothing they could do. The suggestion was to place it in dispute with my credit card company. There must be a better way. McDonald's Corporate needs to fix this. There needs to be a way to resolve this on the App. I understand the store is helpless in these situations. read more

This McDonald's in Coalinga, California was one of our pit stops along the way. We have been to quite a few McDonald's along the way on I-5 and this one is one of the cleanest. There is ample parking. The restrooms are clean. The inside is clearly renovated and kept clean. The customer service was friendly and fast. They accept ApplePay, Google Wallet. My almost six year old wanted a happy meal- so we got it and my hubs wanted a diet soda. When driving down I-5 and needing to stop be sure to come here because it's a clean fast food spot and the it's not bad for dining at the Golden Arches. My goal was to grab some quick chicken nuggets on my drive down from Napa to LA. My goal was met! Food: the chicken nuggets were just what I expected! Crunchy and satisfying. I usually get the the Buffalo sauce and ranch to go with them. It was a quick pit stop and overall it was all I needed. Service: Quick and efficient. Exactly was I need in a fast food pit stop on a long drive. Other: The woman's restroom was a bit dirty with pee all over the floor. I was able to find one stall that was reasonably clean though. This is the worst McDonalds I have ever had the mistake of eating food at. Definitely only use the bathroom here. And don't expect soap or paper towels in the bathroom. There is no customer service. The 20 year old manager directed all customers to "use the kiosk only." Oh, did I mention that the kiosk didn't work and I had to wait in line a second time to pay with a card? While waiting longer than usual I could hear all the alarm bells ringing in the kitchen area. The fries were not crispy and appeared oily. Let's be honest. This review is not going to convince you to skip the McDonalds in Coalinga (just off I-5), but at least you will know what you are in for. First off, this McDonalds exists purely for travelers with limited options. That means it's constantly busy with short-fused, self-entitled travelers in a hurry. The parking lot is a hazard and the drive-through line stretches out to the street at times. Be mindful of where you park because you might not be able to get out (or should I say, the people in the drive-through line stretching through the parking lot won't let you out). Inside, you will find no line to order, but lots of people waiting for their order. Never a good sign. Walk up to the counter to order and you might not get help unless you ask. There are two self-service ordering kiosks that may or may not be functioning properly. Once your order is complete, it's hard to figure out how to progress to the final screen to pay and get an order number. Here's what inspired me to write this review. 23 minutes to get a chicken sandwich, 10 piece chicken nuggets, and two orders of fries. I ordered at 10:31am and didn't get my food until 10:54am...and that's only because I asked someone who had to hunt down the order and put it together. There's a conveniently-located 866 number to call for feedback...and I did. A woman took down all my information and told me someone would call back. I ordered the grand mc chicken and the patty was way over cooked and thinned out. Sandwich had a really bad smell to it as if the patty was really old. I feel bad for the employees here. They looks so overwhelmed and some are just jaded. I blame the owners and management. Been here twice on trips between LA and the Bay Area. Both were very "memorable". First time - huge lines so we left. Second time - few customers but food, service and cleanliness were just bad. I know this s McDonald's and not an expensive restaurant. What's missing is basic hygiene and food decency. I don't need super happy employees or anything. Just basic stuff. No one was at the cashier and the manager was yelling at customers to use the kiosk. No problem. I always use the kiosks. An employee was on the line and she indirectly yelled at her own staff to use the kiosk. Several customers were waiting for at least 15-30 minutes for the orders. Food came in. Fries were those old shriveled ones. Biscuits and cheeseburgers were cold. He buns were a little chewy. Staff looks like they were so overwhelmed as they need more help. Even customers were nice to them as it's beyond their control. Dead flies - at least 7 ( yes I counted) were on the window sills near the drink station. An employee was taking his break and not caring about the flies in front of him. Manager was yelling at her employee. The kitchen looks so disorganized as it had a ton of boxes. The last time I stopped here was June 2021 and the fries were overcooked and flavorless. They didn't even give me a straw for my drink and there is no spout on the lid to drink from. I stopped here again on 8/8/21 at 11:45am. This time I noticed there was no straw for the drink so I asked for one. The person at the window acted surprised that I would want a straw.
