I know, I know, I gotta stop reviewing McDonald's. I'm so sorry. But my excuse is that I hadn't had McDonald's in 11 months...and then I just went...crazy. Actually, it's because I ran the half, work got stressful and I didn't have time to cook...so I broke down. Because a McDouble and a McChicken sounded so good!! And it was. It actually made me slightly nauseous afterwards because I hadn't had McDonald's in so long...but I also literally inhaled them. This is a two lane drive up right next to EIU. The main restaurant closes at midnight, but the drive through is open 24/7. Out of the three McDonald's that I tried while I was here for work, this is easily the best one...it's probably because they get the most business with EIU being next door. I kinda wonder what happens after midnight though for the kids who don't have cars and want McDonald's. Do they just walk through the drive through? I ordered 2 Big Macs 3 days ago and there was no meat (and didn't get a receipt because it was a mobile order, late night, and the girl didn't open the window to ask). And you can read on the bag egg and sausage McGriddle. Got charged for an egg n sausage McGriddle. If I complained everytime I'll be there every day. But only late night in Charleston. Actually the slowest and worst McDonald's around. Food is terrible and inconsistent. I've been sitting in the drive through for close to 45 minutes and I've had time to download yelp, make a review, and do all the thinking I need for the week. The line hasn't moved in the last 15 minutes. 0/10 not coming back and the staff is rude as hell. read more

It took 40 minutes for one meal. This has happened more than once! Not only did they take 40 minutes to make my meal, but they got my meal wrong. My sandwich should have been deluxe. Horrible experience. Workers were rude and ignoring people. read more

Leaving the races and wanted something warm figured we stop. Dine in hours say 2 online and on the doors but you get there and no doors are unlocked. The employees sit having their food inside but don't care to have the doors open like they state they are for dine in hours. Can't fit a trailer and truck through the drive thru so you're kinda screwed. Ambiance sucks without good service read more

This McDonald's has gone severely downhill recently. I went a week ago and ordered a 4 piece chicken strip meal and they gave me 4 chicken nuggets. There is not even a 4 piece chicken nugget meal. I came back a week later, for reference the drive through is open until 3am. I placed a mobile order around 2:30am. I waited in line for 30 minutes and when the clock hit 3am, they shut the drive through menu lights down. I waited at the speaker for over 20 minutes without being helped and was ignored when I tried to speak. 10 minutes after the lights were shut off, a worker came over the speaker and told me they weren't taking orders because they were closed. I told them I had placed an order over 30 minutes prior and was told they could not help me with that and that they would not make it and I would have to get a refund. A waste of time and horrible service that night, it was very disappointing. read more

I've never left a review of a fast food restaurant, much less a McDonald's, but I'll make an exception for this one. This restaurant was what McDonald's used to be, very clean, friendly and polite staff, quick service and properly cooked food. The restrooms were clean and the restaurant is situated well for ease of getting on and off the interstate. It's also one of few restaurants along a lengthy stretch of highway. Well done read more

I had the same experience as Cooper R. This is because we are cousins and were there together. We were waiting on our milkshake and never even received it! Very bad! We just pooled up and the person was taking forever in front of us we didn't know why. It turned out to be that the guy who was taking their order said order when ever your ready they were ready but were was he? He wasn't talking they then pulled off it was our turn. They didn't take our order luckily we were on our way back from church we go to church is Charleston we live in mattoon. They always close delivery on their app and on door dash. I'm assuming it's because they don't want to take the extra orders. Super inconvenient for us who have kids and delivery is more convenient. Can't ever get ice cream thier either typical. Last time we got fries they tasted so stale and hard must've been in the warmer all day long without being changed. read more

I find the Charleston McDonald's very disappointing. So many beautiful memories were made in McDonald's with my kids at the southern Illinois McDonald's. Charleston is a bit of a comedy show, I'm not sure if it's the customers who are ruder to the employees or the employees ruder to the customers. In addition there is no play place, yes there is a park across the street. However, the weather here is treacherous past October . Instead of catering to college students perhaps the children of locals would like to play! Furthermore, No machine in existence is down as much as their ice cream machine. Food is McDonald's quality though so yeah for that! read more

This McDonald's trip was one to remember. I went with the entire dance team which concludes of around 40 people, most paying with cash. All Employees kept a good attitude and got the job done. Especially the guy in the yellow shirt. He was hyping up his coworkers, working fast and was telling jokes with a pep in his step! The food was as good as McDonalds food gets. i went there this morning to get breakfast. they didn't have any coffee and when i tried to order the coffee the lady got an attitude and was disrespectful about it. they also charged by card $14 for 2 sausage burrito and a sweet tea when they told me my total would be $9.04. there works are disrespectful and need to learn good customer service. read more

Was in there today and saw two cockroaches on the prep counter next to the soda and ice machines - yikes!!! It's got to be bad when roaches come out in the daytime and with all the afternoon customer traffic...will never eat there again!!! The staff also leaves a lot to be desired. Most are constantly running to have a smoke outside by the side door and return without washing hands or wearing gloves to serve - yuck!! 1. Very slow in the drive thru. 2. Ordered 2 meals with French fries and 1 was with no salt. As we drove out and realized there was only 1 fry in the bag we contemplated turning around to get the other. However- we were not given a receipt at the first window as proof that we did purchase the fry. And the thought of spending another 20 minutes just to get a fry was not something we were going to do. Sometimes good, but it's hit or miss. Some of the employees are very unprofessional. I know a certain degree of unprofessionalism is to be expected-- it's McDonald's. But I've heard profane things from some employees through the drive thru, watched them yell at each other, and I've often gotten incorrect orders. Many of the employees seem lovely, but there are a few that I notice consistently being rambunctious and quite honestly embarrassing. It makes me not want to visit McDonald's in this town. read more

First off you guys are slower than turtles. Second off my three good pals came thru your drive thru and let me tell you their experience wasn't too pleasant. They had three separate orders which is fine your allowed to do that and they go to the first window to pay and the second window to get their food. When they got to the second window the manger yelled at these three little angels saying they never paid for their food which is completely a lie. You can't just assume they didn't pay even though they did. So unprofessional the manager could have asked one of the employees if they paid at the first window. I was so In love with McDonald's and would go there all the time, but now I don't go at all because they got rid of lemonade

They screw up there orders more then they get them right. Drive-thru is very slow during the off times. They rarely ever park cars which causes a backup, and very poor TTL's. "Total Time in Line" that's how McDonald's tracks how well there drive-thru is working. They're not doing a very good job. One last thing. They assemble there sandwiches very sloppy. It all boils down to poor management. Idk if the management team needs more training or if corporate needs to start popping in during the off hours but something needs to be done. read more

The person taking my order in the drive thru did not even let me get to the speaker to speak; therefore, they kept saying speak louder. I could not even read the menu because I was that far away from the speaker when they took my order. read more

Employees are horrendous; they are all incompetent and rude. If you go through the drive-thru, take an extra minute to sit there and check your order to make sure it is correct, but 99.99% of the time, they will mess up your order, since instructions on a screen are hard to follow. read more

This has happen on more than one occasion. I stop at drive thru about 2 pm for a vanilla iced coffee. The drive thru is wrapping around the building almost to the entrance off division. It is usually about 20 minutes to get through. People do not understand the concept of the double drive thru and I have been cut off when it was my turn to go. I guess I can't put all the blame on mcdonalds because Charleston has a lack of any other restaurants everybody is drawn to mcdonalds. Something needs to be done as this is turning out to be slowest mcdonalds around. W now pay the extra $1.25 for Starbucks and do not plan on going back to the charleston mcdonalds until they get it together. read more

I went in McDonald's the other day and ordered 2 cheese burgers extra onion extra pickle. I got 3 pickles on one burger and 2 on the other and only a little bit if onions. It was rang in on the register correctly but my order was not. This is some kind of scam too keep money. When I ask for extra pickles next time I'm just going to have to ask for a certain number of pickles? Wow. It also took 25 minutes for those to come out. read more

My hometown McD's is getting worse all the time. 25 minutes in the drive thru, and by the time I got to the window the line was at least 10 cars longer than when I got there and out to the ROAD. Food quality is slipping too, got 2 B''Fast burritos the other day with only 3 little pieces of sausage between the 2 and virtually NO veggies, basically a cheese burrito with a little bit of egg. TERRIBLE! I was afraid to go back and complain it might take an HOUR. Plus I can't tell you how many times the order is filled wrong. Really need a management makeover or something. I wish that someday Charleston might get other fast food options that might be FAST-ish. Maybe at least cut the time to 10 minutes? read more
