Wifey and I were SHOCKED! I mean we were completely floored. We could not believe that we had not written a review for this place yet!!! (Oh my goodness! After posting THIS review I see that we've already reviewed it, not once, but TWICE before!!! I think that should testify how much we love the place!) This is one of our "fer sher" go-to's. I think we just assumed we had already done it. So, let's commence: They say you can know all about a Mexican restaurant just by sampling the salsa. If that is true, this place is just top notch. Wifey says, "Not too puréed, not too chunky, not too spicy, not too bland, Just Right." I'm pretty sure she joined Goldilocks, but, who knows... Anyway, I'd like to finish this review today so we will not go through everything we've had on the menu, but I did want to say, "We've have had nothing we didn't thoroughly enjoy." The staff is ALWAYS polite and after you've been here a few times, the owner/host remembers your drink order. That "pleasant/I've been seen" vibe is nice. Anyway, today I had the shrimp tacos. Just another fantastic lunch here at Taco Amigos. Let's hear what wifey thinks: Hubby's right. And I said it. So he better not miss the chance to record that on the calendar for future reference that it only took 30 years for me to (graciously) give that to him. This place is the bees knees! Everything is so good. My fave is the street tacos on corn tortillas with lots of onions and cilantro. I also love the Pollo Sinaloa. Mmm! This little Mexican spot is our go to when visiting family in Illinois . We frequent this spot more than I should admit. The food is always delish, the staff is helpful and the food comes quick. There's something for everyone. They even offer some American items for picky eaters. I love that you can also eat here with a severe gluten allergy and know you're safe. This place was surprisingly good. I lived a 45 minute drive from the border of Mexico for 6 years, and in Chicago for many years (including now), so I've had Mexican food at quite a few places. I was surprised to find that this place is actually very good. The salsa is delicious, as is the cheese sauce. They have some flavor in the salsa that's seemingly unique to them, and it's delicious. The flavor in the Chicken on the Beach (Pollo a la Playa at most places) was very good, though a little bit overwhelming by the end. If they tone it down slightly, it'll be pretty well perfect. The service was prompt and friendly as well. This place is on the right track. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town. read more

I was hoping they would have unique tacos or something different that would make we want to come back again and again, but there wasn't anything. First time ordering out. Very convenient to order on line and pick up food at the window. Place looks spotless. However, food was very plain.. I had a seafood burrito.rice was ok. As far as Mexican food goes, it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't that great either. Most of the food wasn't very flavorful, or was over cooked. For only having like 10 tables the restaurant was way over staffed. Upon being seated we were asked if we were ready to order at least 3 times in the span of 2 minutes. My fiancé and I came here because it was rated 4.5 stars but it really wasn't that great, we left rather disappointed with our experience. read more

Service has been extremely slow last couple times we have been here. Will not be going back anytime soon. There were hardly any customers but still had to wait a very long time to order second drink & more chips. Waited 35 minutes last time after giving my credit card to receive bill to sign. Finally went in to sign it. Had to go in today after waiting 25 minutes on bill. First time I did not leave a tip. Also waiters are not covering noses with mask. One did not have a mask. read more
