Local flavor that's oh so good. Love their 1/4 lb fully dressed burger, the amazing fries and a classic vanilla coke. It's a true homecoming Everytime. You can't beat the pricing on the milkshakes, and the salads are a great and great price. With that combination what's not to love? read more

We love McHugh's! It isn't expensive and tastes good! Service is usually very quick. We especially like their milkshakes, especially the fun flavor of the month, which is usually less traditional than the normal chocolate or vanilla. Orders are typically accurate as well. read more

Hot and fast and super good. Thought it was a chain restaurant but they're just crushing it as a one of a kind!

Service was friendly and quick! The burger was a decent burger, it was hot and fresh and the prices weren't bad! I'd go back.

It looks and tastes like mcDonalds, I was expecting a more homemade or homestyle burger from a place with such history. The food was ready in under a minute and that was not a good sign. It was Mcdonalds but a bit more expensive read more

Obesity lives here. We could not believe the portions of their burgers, 80% went into our trash.

Good lord the food is good. Cheeseburgers are amazing! The fries are always got and fresh! Super fast service!

Great place to grab a quick bite. Food taste amazing and the fries were the best part to me. The only thing that kept me from giving it a full 5 star rating was that when I pulled up. One of the workers was outside laughing at customers and talking in hushed voices with another random teenager who appeared to not even work there. Both were just sucking down cigarettes. If your looking for food and can deal with a cloud of cig smoke and someone possibly laughing at you when you pull up then this is your place. read more

McHugh's Double Drive Thru - Double cheeseburger combo - Burgers Near Me - Charleston, Illinois

N: Hey, I heard this morning was a mess. Me: What are you eating?? N: Oh. McHugh's. Are you still training? Want a chicken tender? Me: I think I love you forever. McHugh's is one of those Charleston-Mattoon things that no one has ever heard about unless they live here or they've grown up here. Fast food is not a novelty in Charleston, so I was pretty reluctant to try this place until I had had some other people chip in their opinions. And I cannot believe that no one has EVER reviewed this place on Yelp yet!! They don't even have a website. So one of my colleagues does a 12 noon to 8 PM shift and usually walks in with McHugh's all the time. She also juices like 10 lbs of romaine lettuce and kale and drinks that concoction like a frat boy chugging beer, which I find entirely hilarious, given her lunch choices, but hey, who am I to judge? And after having my first chicken tender, I totally understood. It was creamy, it was tender...it was probably the best chicken tender I've ever had in my life...and I don't even want to know what was in it. So I had been dreaming about that one chicken tender for weeks, and after running the 1/2 marathon, it was time to splurge. I think it's kinda funny that there is a storefront, but there are no tables inside, only outside. There are two drive thru windows though, and the menus look like they haven't changed since 1991 when they opened. They have everything that's possible in a local burger joint at very reasonable prices. I think the basic burger is a little below $3, but extra value meals and the more complicated burgers can easily go up to $7-$9. And they do not have Fanta anymore even though it's still on the menu. After much perusal, I decided on the Black-N-Bleu burger extra value meal with chili cheese fries instead of the usual fries, which came out to a little above $7. The burger was YUMMY. It was a thick juicy patty, dripping with sauce. It was tangy, smoky, and filling. The fries are like McDonald's fries and really amazing on their own. The chili cheese didn't do much more...it is your basic chili and cheese with raw white onion on it. It was packaged well and still warm when I finally got home. McHugh's makes me wish I was 18 again when I could eat anything and not gain an ounce. It's that kind of a burger place. read more

Cheap, fast, but just a typical frozen patty restaurant. We were in hopes of a freshly made sandwich, but sadly disappointed. Giving it a 3 though because it did cost less than $20 for the 3 of us. read more

So the Mattoon one is next to Arby's and I end up there when Arby's is too busy or closed. Last month had " food poisoning." My second time there. Yesterday Arby's was busy so I just ended up not eatimg. My workmate told mecI should just have given McHugh's another chance. Today Arby's closed early. So McHugh's it was. And I ended up flossing my teeth with someone's long hair. Thanks McHugh's. Never again. Was told one time " Cheap things no good, good things no cheap." McHugh's proved that point today. read more

McHugh's Double Drive Thru - the inside of a sandwich - Burgers Near Me - Charleston, Illinois

So today I'm craving a cheeseburger real bad after work (let me tell ya.) Order my sandwich and a milkshake because I was feeling fancy. Grab my food and leave but little did I know there was a surprise in my sandwich, it was onions. when I specifically ordered my sandwich without onions. While jamming to my fuck yourself song by two feet(great song.) I opened my sandwich and guess what "ONIONS". So I did something everyone would do if their sandwich came with onions that they didn't want . picked it off (bad idea.)my friend's car smells like onions I smell like onions and my hands still smell like onions. washed them three times. I tried to cover the smell with lotion, but the mix of lotion and onions (bad idea let me Tell ya.) anyways great food bad day, BABY baby baby, when you touch me like this! read more

Last week we stopped through the drive thru and loved it! The food was very good and cheap!

The food is lovely and the employees are too. It would be super cool if they chose to wear masks so I didn't feel like I was going to die. I, and several others I know, have avoided this restaurant specifically because we noticed they do not wear masks. Their lovely cheese fries are not worth killing grandma. read more

Passing through Charleston yesterday and needed fuel for the belly. Saw the McDs but wanted something local and McHughs beckoned. Great drive up service. Speedy, fresh, delicious 1/3 lb burgers (3) and extremely generous fries with large drink for under $12. Loved the chopped fresh white onions. Highly recommended alternative to the blah super chain fast food! Thanks McHughs! read more

I love this place, but had a very bad experience just now. On my way out if town, stopped by to grab some food for the trip. We got 2 #5's and a #3...... The burgers were half raw! This has NEVER happened at McHugh's..... EVER! I checked the bag, see if it was a mistaken McDonald order read more

We make an annual trip to Charleston to drop off my kid at Eastern for music camp - saw they had a special and thought I'd stop to eat. As with most of the places we've went to here the food is mediocre at best. I guess typical of a college town. It was edible, nothing to write home about but was a good value. read more

Very poor customer service. They were not busy we waited for 2 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. The young lady who attempted to take my order was the worse cashier I've ever had in my life. I will never go back to this place again. read more

We drove thru one evening last week. Both of our burgers were completely raw in the middle. Called, and they said they would write it down and credit us the next time we came by. Went by this evening, and they couldn't find anything written down (which they said was their policy). Didn't make good on their word. The food is usually good, but we won't be going back for a while. That's really poor customer service. read more

While food is passible, customer service it TERRIBLE. And watch the pricing, they never charge what is on the board. Seems like they make up their own pricing as they go and when questioned get extremely rude. We NEVER return there after such terrible treatment. read more

Good for what it is and always fast, good management. Never had an issue and it beats McDonalds for the price/speed.

Got a black and white burger. The worst thing I've ever attempted to eat. Took two bites and threw it away. I mean this thing was HORRIBLE!! Staff was indifferent toward me. Acted like they didn't care if I was a customer or not. Rude. read more

Eating at McHugh's is like eating at McDonalds except you don't feel terrible physically and emotionally afterwords. The service is quick and the food is a good value. They give you a crazy amount of fries which is good because I like to eat a crazy amount of fries. read more

It's a sad day when you ordered a bacon cheese burger and there is a lack of bacon. Burger was a little cold and the fries weren't very fresh. This is disappointing because mchugh's is a really good go to when you want a quick but quality bite. read more

Solid burgers. Tons of fries ( which you can get with cheese) Crispy chicken sandwich is also good, as are the hot dogs. Friend swears to the chili cheese burger with extra jalapeño, plan on trying it someday. Seriously, why wait twice as long for that McDonald's garbage when this is right across the street? read more

When McHugh's began, their food and service was exemplary; prices were reasonable and the amount of food was a delight. You were always greeted with a smile. In the last few visits, my family and I have experienced multiple mistakes in our orders, delayed preparation time, and negative (if not down right unprofessional) service. My fiancée just went through the drive through in Charleston, and we are officially boycotting this establishment. He asked for a cup carrier, and received a highly unprofessional attitude. Our order was not correct, and frankly we are fed up by McHugh's' lack of empathy for their patrons' dissatisfaction and concerns. The last time we made a complaint, they said they would make it right. They gave us a coupon for a free small order of fries... both our burgers were wrong and mine was raw in the center. read more

I was referred to this place by some of the gentleman that I've been working with this week at the college that's in town. Needless to say I was surprised at the quality after being so hyped up and excited to try it. The burger patty was definitely a preformed frozen and then reheated piece of meat, and the bacon on my black and Bleu burger was of the microwave variety. As for the Bleu side of the burger, they had put a heaping helping of blue cheese salad dressing on top and rather skimped on the lettuce and tomato. There was one redeeming thing about the entire experience, and that was the fact that the bun was one of the best that I've had in sometime (very fresh), and the french fries were quite exceptional. This place is in fact a double drive-through and so I was able to get through very quickly, I was very impressed with their speed and the quality of their service, the girls who waited on me were very friendly! read more
