Stopped in Berkeley Springs on our return trip to Ohio and ended up at the McDonalds in town. This location has the ordering and paying option which we used with no problems. I actually prefer this method since you can order to your own specifications. Big breakfasts with pancakes and coffee were ordered and enjoyed. The food was served quickly, hot and tasty. Actually I don't know if we were so hungry from traveling or the food was that extra good but hubs and I ate everything we were served and took a coffee refill for the continued road trip. The counter staff was very nice and the atmosphere in the restaurant was friendly, seemed local and homey. As a side note, the restrooms were some of the cleanest I've seen in a fast food place. read more

Surprisingly modern McDonald's with a DIY computerized ordering system. No complaints there. No complaints with cleanliness, either. And I saw the happiest hug scene at this McD's. Two stars off because they forgot the french fries with my two year old's happy meal order. We ordered on that self serve screen, so the fries were specifically chosen, and appeared on the receipt. But, no fries in the box. Did I mention that french fries are THE "happy" in happy meals according to my kiddo? We chose to stop at another McDonald's in the next town to fix this mistake. Other than that, note that there is a parking lot, plenty of space to eat inside, and a very busy drive thru. read more

McDonalds and I have a love/hate relationship. There's many things I crave at McDonalds, but I'm always disappointed once I give into my hunger. My go-to is a Quarter Pounder meal with fries and a Coke. I order my sandwich without onions and add mayo. 99.99999% of the time, it has onions and no mayo. The fries are hit or miss, some days they're fresh and delicious, and other days they're cold and soggy. While I understand how their business works, the pricing keeps edging up more and more and more, on what seems to be a weekly basis. Now a meal, with tax, costs nearly $12 for a sandwich, handful of fries, and a drink.... I use McDonalds for the convenience many times, but with other local establishments offering up much lower cost options, and service at this particular McDonalds lacking, I'm slowly pulling away from even stopping by. read more

Our yearly holiday drive through the Blue Ridge Mountains usually includes a pitstop at this McD's. If it wasn't for this simple fact - the sheer convenience of the location - they should raze this building. Simply awful. Dirty facilities, apathetic staff, bad fast food. Sure, it's 24-hour drive thru, which is the only remotely redeeming quality when you're driving through the mountains. Even considering that, this McD's sets a new low even by McD's standards. Cold fries stink! Come on guys why do I only get hot fries some days. MAKE HOT FRIES!!!!!

I've been driving through Berkley Springs a few times a year since the late 70's, long before there was a McDonald's in the town. I'm not really a fast food person so pretty much the only time I eat fast food is when I'm traveling so I stopped in at this McDonald's from time to time. It has been a convenient place to stop but over the years the building deteriorated so it was nice to see they have done a complete remodel. The facility is attractive and modern but the layout is just horrible if you want to dine in or order inside to go. The main parking lot is at one end of the building and the only public entrance is at the other end so if the limited parking in the front is full one must walk through two lanes of drive-through traffic all the way to the opposite end of the building to enter. A lot of travelers pass through here so during peak times that drive through line can get pretty lengthy so you may want to place your order inside and use the restroom while your in there. We stopped here a couple of days ago around 1PM so they were busy with both drive-through lanes full. We waded through the drive-through lanes and went inside. Before getting in line to order we decided to use the bathrooms. The men's room is small with one urinal, one toilet and a very under-powered electric hand dryer. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting but I'll give them a break on it because it was a busy lunch rush. My wife said the ladies' room was okay. I waited my turn and placed my order, got my receipt and told to wait. They call your number when they put your order on the counter. I received my order and we went back to the opposite end of the property to my car. I handed the bag to my wife who opened it and said "only one fry?" Grr... I looked at the receipt and realized they hadn't charged me for two (though the order taker repeated my order for two fries correctly before ringing it up) so I just decided I'd eat my quarter pounder and sneak a few of my wife's fries. I ended up having to go all the way back inside anyway as my wife said she needed ketchup and there were no condiments or napkins in the bag. As for the food, my quarter pounder with cheese was pretty much tasteless. It looked good but was just very bland. My wife said her fish sandwich was delicious so that was good. The fries were fresh and hot but didn't seem to have any salt whatsoever, not much of an issue to my wife who drowns her fries with ketchup but I prefer my fries plain so these saltless fries were not very good to me. The restaurant is obviously set up for drive-through efficiency at the expense of dining inside or ordering to go. They seem to handle the drive-through traffic well but be prepared for some issues if you decide to order and/or eat inside. read more

Come for the horrible service, stay for the filthy floors. Nestled at the foot of the Hills Have Eyes is what some call the beginning of patient zero. The Berkeley Springs McDonalds is what I believe to be a social experiment of some kind. How long can we provide terrible service, in a poorly deigned shoebox facility, while increasing prices on what we are told is edible. And why do the fries have a five minute window to be eaten, but never change in appearance. Millions of years from now civilizations will find traces of our existence from the McDonalds fries that never decomposed. It's fast yes, but with so many restaurant around the three mile radius you can do better. Angus and Ale, Mountainside, or even Dairy Queen and Subway are fast options. I personally enjoy the food at the bowling alley with hand patted burgers. read more

This McDonald's is truly a hit or miss. Just simply depends on the day you are here. Sometimes you can come here and everything is just the way you ordered it. Other days you are not so lucky and nothing is right. You never know what you are going to get here, which makes it difficult. As for the restaurant itself, I have been there when it is very clean. But I have also been there at times when the drink station is a complete mess and they are out of ketchup in the dining room. The sad part of that is it doesn't seem to matter what time of day it happens or even if they are busy or not. The same goes with the employees. Sometimes they are super friendly and act like they have known you forever. Then there are times they act like you dining there is a complete nuisance to them and they just want to lock the doors and go anywhere else. McDonalds is the only fast food in Berkeley Springs except for DQ, which is right up the street. So if you are looking for fast, you are limited on options. So if you are in the mood for McDonalds, take your chance. Hopefully you are there on one of the good days. read more

I normally do not expect much of a McDonald's but seriously I think this is the worst one. I drive by Berkeley Springs all the time and end up eating here well because it's the only place to eat. Start hiring people above 18 and make then not talk to their friends when taking my order. Atleast the food was ok. The bathroom is always horrendous . Seriously the WORST McDonalds . read more

You park on either side of restaurant and have to walk in the drive thru lane just to get to the door. I then used their self service order kiosk. What a terrible idea. It is confusing and not efficient. I still had to go to the counter to pay for my order. They delivered our order to the table. Yet I had to go to the counter again to get a fork for my salad. The salad had stale tortilla chips and a horrible bean/corn salsa. And a lime slice with more brown than green on the skin! I usually don't do McD's and now I remember why! read more
