This is a fun restaurant. They still have the Thursday rib special. Pies are spectacular!

I visited the Roadkill Cafe on a day it was closed. The woman who greeted me was nice enough to offer to serve me anyway. I very much enjoyed my sandwich. I look forward to returning when I'm in the area again.

Love how they work their Menu

It was hard to believe that this place is in the middle of nowhere and has pretty good food. I had the hot roast beef sandwich with what I believe we're real mashed potatoes. It was great home cooking. The place looked to be doing great business because it was packed when we walked in. It also doubles as a general store and post office.

Burgers were better than average. Deserts were disappointing. Peach pie tasted like cheap canned peaches.

Really good food. Reasonable prices and friendly folks. A little off the beaten path but a nice scenic drive. Well worth the drive.

Best home cooked food. For being very secluded it seems to stay busy. That's how you know it's so good. People come from all over I'm sure.

I was tempted by the ribs which were the Thursday special, but with hours left to drive that day I decided to try the (homemade) lemon meringue pie.

They also have tea and beans to purchase, as well as some other items. They even have a cooler with some fun things to take home. At first we thought it was just a typical coffee spot, but the menu proved us wrong. They do have typical coffee menu with some delicious coffee! But they also have an AM and an PM menu with some super creative options for food. We actually were in town for 2 nights and went both days! The baked goods are drool worthy! You will want one of everything. We tired the lavender blueberry scone. I don't like scones. I always think they are way too dry. These things are not! They are massive and full of flavor. Super tender too. We also got the coffee cake. This was just okay. I would opt for something else unless you ask if it was made that day. Just meh. It was a huge piece though! Super nice staff and very efficient. You can tell they make their food as it is delicious. This isn't a heat it up kind of place. They are cooking. Their baked goods are absolutely amazing! The portions are monster sized. You will need a to go box. We ordered coffees - delicious. Grab some beans to go! Then, we ordered a smoked salmon bagel with capers, pickled red onions, and flavored cream cheese. This was absolutely delicious and HUGE!!! Tons of salmon, the flavors were terrific! Also ordered the pork belly Benedict and it was just as good. This is served on two homemade lard biscuits. Like seriously??? Absolutely delicious! Can't recommend both of these things enough. We were going to come for dinner, but didn't realize they were closed. Apparently they have an incredible fish and chips that's to die for. This place is awesome!!!! Prices are reasonable too!

We were able to decide what to order before we made it to the counter. This is a popular place. What looked like a long line moved quickly. The cashier was friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered a few breakfast sandwiches and a few beverages! Our directions were to stand aside for our beverages and then we could wait elsewhere, even outside on the patio for our food order. We were given a pager. The logistics of their system worked quite smoothly. Our chai tea latte and iced vanilla latte with cinnamon were on point! And our breakfast sandwiches (egg and cheese on sourdough & ham, egg, and cheese on a croissant) were freshly prepared and delicious! Yum! The menu is diverse and there's a dog-friendly patio where tables have umbrellas. This is a special place and you should definitely stop by when in Harper's Ferry.

Surprisingly, their habanero hot sauce was fantastic! I didn't see if they sell that stuff by the bottle but I'm sure they would hook you up with some. I got the impression that not many people show interest in it sooo, get on it! Their Cookies & Cream pie is meh but their blueberry pie, warmed up with a little whip cream hits the spot.

We spoke to clerk who suggested the family sampler $49.99 It came with 3 meats - we chose Pork, Chicken and Brisket, hush puppies, 3 sides - we chose Mac n cheese, greens, French fries Here is where our review comes: keep in mind we are foodies and I'm from Smithfield NC Brisket- 2/10 very thin, it gets cold immediately, you can taste the smoke but need the sauce to eat it. It didn't hold favor. Bbq sauce is very watery. Not sure why. Pork- 1/10 we did not like it at all. It was different. Ground. Vinegar overpowers everything. I almost feel it could've been better but we just couldn't eat it. Chicken- 6/10 as a family we ate it. Would picture it in a taco being great. Again vinegar overpowers. Mac and Cheese- 3/10 too milky not enough cheese.... And a true sample. Maybe 2oz. For the price it wasn't worth it. Greens- 8/10 again too much vinegar but I'm a country girl we eat the greens Hush puppies 10/10 French fries 10/10 So all in all we would not stop here again. However the staff was friendly, the decor was cute and if it works for you, go for it! Honestly I'm disappointed that we didn't like it as much as we wanted to. But I promised to always be honest in my reviews. It's a pass if you are a foodie.
