I really enjoyed our family dinner at the Country Inn. A few years ago, we ate here and I thought it was just okay. On this latest visit, I really enjoyed our time. The restaurant is cozy and only has a few seating options in the main bar area. It's a nice atmosphere and we loved the booths. I ended up ordering exactly what I had when I visited a few years ago, which was the Chicken Christy. It's a delicious dish of chicken, topped with ham, cheese and heavy cream. The sauce is great, and the meal comes with multiple sides. I ended up getting sweet potato fries along witn a delicious salad and blue cheese dressing. My partner got the Philly Steak and Cheese. It wasn't quite as good as the real deal of a Philly cheesesteak, but he still enjoyed it. Our kids loved their meals, which was basically cheeseburgers. We were a little surprised they couldn't just do a basic pasta with sauce. But apparently, they don't have any tomato sauce at this place. Lastly, we enjoyed the great price on the wine. We ended up getting a bottle of red wine from Paso Robles, California. We love Paso. While we never heard of this particular wine from the region, it was really tasty and worth the price which was really reasonable. We would definitely come back. This restaurant is downright adorable. Talk about charm! Our large party dined in the main dining room where there was live music (piano) and decorations leftover from Valentine's Day. We shared a few apps (brussel sprouts, cauliflower, and shrimp) which were all tasty. A bit heavy on the sauce but tasty nonetheless. I got a meatloaf Wellington and enjoyed it. Our server was personable and fun. The downsides - the menu doesn't tell you what's in the cocktails and cocktails. When we asked our server about them, her response was she has no idea because she isn't a bartender. It also took a while for our plates to be cleared between courses. We stacked them ourselves but kept having to work around them until our server finally offered to clear them from the table. read more

Nostalgic venue in a quirky, historic WV town. We stopped for lunch at the Inn, and we noticed seats at the bar as we entered. Bartender was quick to greet, and efficient with drink service. We had the grilled romaine salad and eggplant pesto sandwich, both of which were unique and delicious. I have trouble chewing thin, flimsy foods such as cooked spinach or celery, so the grilled romaine was a challenge for me, but the dressing and chicken were perfect. The atmosphere harkens to a much earlier time, and it would certainly be a great stop for anyone who appreciates old architecture and history. Fantastic lunch, recommend! read more

The Morgan Tavern offers a comfortable intimate spot for good food and drink. It serves the same menu as the other Country Inn restaurants though they often have specials. We wanted a light meal after nice massages in the Old Bath House so shared some appetizers. The bang bang shrimp were outstanding. The atmosphere of the tavern is great, very cozy much like the inn that it's in. Went to grab dinner with two friends after a soak in the hot springs next door. Service was fine, average. French Onion Soup, 3/5, good portion for the cost but I'd have liked more onions and it was underseasoned. Meatloaf Wellington with house salad and garlic mashed potatoes. House salad was standard, but kudos on the blue cheese dressing, it was very good. The side garlic mashed were served lukewarm and were underseasoned, but the texture was excellent. The Wellington on its own was a solid 4.5/5, hot and juicy with a flaky puff pastry crust, perfectly seasoned, and the gravy served with it was rich and delicious. My only small complaint was the pastry was a little undercooked. But definitely made the meal worth getting and a generous enough portion to make another small meal out of later. This was enough to redeem a 4th star on an otherwise 3 star review. read more

Well - overall this isn't bad. It's located in the Country Inn to the left as you walk in. Smaller area with a bar spot and a value which had a wedding in it when we had stopped. Ordered some appetizers (crab dip & mozzarella triangles) and they were okay. Problem was the small pita dippers for the dip were cold- should be warmed; and the cheese triangles were lukewarm and sat on top of marinara which was cold. Presentation looked good but if it's cold I don't know. For an entree I went with the 12oz NY strip, been awhile since I have had a steak. And ordered the broccoli with it. Ordering the steak medium I should have known better - when usually places overcook rather than undercook. This wasn't the case. My steak came badly rare. I mean cool inside rare. I have never sent back a steak - but I had to here. They charred it to medium well and it was fine afterwards. For dessert I ordered raspberry cheesecake and then picked off a brownie ala mode. Both were good. I overate but the sky is always blue. It was just good. good menu items but the execution was poor. read more

Ok. Thank God! There is good food in Berkeley Springs. (See my review of Canary grill). So our second night in town we went to the Morgan Tavern (in the Inn at Berkeley Springs). They were very busy too (we were warned to make reservations and were glad we did). But you could tell the appetizers were a world of difference from the place before. No frozen reheated crap here. We had the pretzel which was delicious and the fried provolone cheese with marinara sauce that was also excellent. On to the main course. My partner was worried after the inedible fettuccini Alfredo from the Canary Grill so he just ordered a burger and it was delicious! OK they weren't perfect. My steak was really good but it was a hair more done than I wanted it and the baked potato was a hair underdone too. But all in all it was a fantastic meal. So made reservations as warned by Hotel staff..seated a few mins late but the way our table was set up was totaly worth it...landed on $5 margaritas night ...perfect...wife said soup was very good ( chicken and dumplins) and the motarella triangles were awsome.....the ribs and steak were cooked to perfection every thing we ate all hate a hint of spice and or sauce they were cooked in. You tasted what you ordered ....service was on point ... If you are staying here or driving though make reservations . And you will spend a few bucks but you get what you pay for. Paul read more

My wife and I stayed at the Country Inn for a couple of nights so we had a breakfast and a dinner at this restaurant within the hotel. Breakfast was good, though rather slow to be delivered, but this review is mainly about the dinner. The service was OK but the food was mediocre at best. The Asian Pork Dumplings and General Tso's Cauliflower appetizers were quite good. My wife's Fettuccine Alfredo entree was bland and watery. I ordered the ribeye steak medium rare, with emphasis on rare. It was medium to well done, and I wasn't willing to wait if I sent it back so I ate my disappointing dinner as delivered. There are much better choices for dinner in Berkeley Spring, give this one a pass. read more

The building reminds me of a place George Washington would have eaten. They have 3 rooms for different styles for dining. But the same menu. The food was superior. We got an appetizer of baked brie with nuts and fruit. My main meal was meatloaf baked in a puff pastry, with mashed potatoes and salad. One friend got a Rubin sandwich saying that the corned beef was real, not lunch meat. My other friend is a vegan and was able to ask for vegetables from the menu. She especially loved the large meaty mushrooms. We got lemon cake to go. Everything was wonderful. I suspect there was a chef involved. read more

We had lunch at the Hilltop, same food as the inns tavern. Lunch was phenomenal! Best food for the price that I've had in years. Service was excellent . I was a little surprised that a restaurant with that much attention to quality everywhere else would serve instant ice tea, really?? Almost everyone knows to serve fresh brewed ice tea these days, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. The atmosphere was a bit dark and gloomy, maybe because it's a historic hotel - but I thought it needed some serious updating. That all said, the amazing food was well worth it. I had the grilled roamain salad with perfectly grilled chicken and housemate Caesar dressing. The accompanying grilled tomatoes and lemons were a nice addition. It was fabulous. Dining partners had a 5 star Reuben, you can really taste the quality of the slow simmered in house made corned beef. The BLT was full of bacon and tomatoes, no skimping here! The sandwich bread could use an upgrade but perhaps there's not any good bakeries in the area. It was your typical thin sliced grocery store bread. We wiill make a point to stop here next time we are traveling. Highly recommended!! read more

Place is located within The Country Inn and is an overall great place to eat and drink. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the food and drinks are good and reasonably priced. We have stayed at The Country Inn several times and we make it a point to eat at The Country Inn. We recommend "the chicken christy" and the "tuna". We are a fan and will return. read more

Epic Failure. The band, Grassed Up was good though. We would have stayed if there had been any type of good standards met. Nathan was a sweetheart. With better leadership he would be great. The manager, Christy, was less than friendly in a service environment. I feel this isn't the position for her. She needs an attitude adjustment. It was her poor mannerisms that caused us to leave for the evening. Sad because we were all about enjoying the band and atmosphere and purposely booked at the Inn and reserved a table for that reason. Very disappointing. read more

Place very noisy, service very slow and poor as were most dishes. Never asked about a drink order, appetizers were very small, food mediocre at best. Crab fries were cold, stale with minimal topping. Onion rings ok but order very small. Caesar salad dressing lacked flavor as did the Romano cheese. Pork was dry and over done, couldn't eat it, they agreed not to charge for it. Burger did not come with advertised toppings. Although menu said choice of cheese the waitress never asked, nor did she ask how the burger should be cooked. We will not be going back. read more

We had three meals here while staying at the attached Country Inn (one lunch, one dinner, and one breakfast), and my summary is "good food, uneven service". I personally tried the open-faced turkey sandwich, the burger, and the breakfast buffet and all of them were good. I ate with multiple family members and none of them ever complained about the food either, indeed many of them spoke highly of it. The restaurant is very child-friendly and my toddler was always welcomed. They have both high chairs and booster seats. They were good about bringing my toddler some food quickly so she would not scream for food. The service varied wildly. One server was excellent, one server seemed good but was clearly overworked/distracted, and one server seemed really inept. The bad server claimed it was her first day, and if that was true it meant that she really had not been trained on some very important things. read more

One of the few spots open on a Tuesday. Glad we found this place, it was delicious! The pretzel and cheese & Gen Tso cauliflower was fantastic. I had the flatbread, which was generous portion and well presented. It could've had a tad bit more flavor. My daughter got the open faced turkey sandwich and it was tasty. Took 45 minutes after we ordered our food to actually get it don't know if they were busy or had to go and slaughter the cow... other then the horrible service and taking forever to get our food, the food was good. My recommendations: Bang bang shrimp as app (the fried spinach on the side was soooo good), portabella mushroom or meatloaf (yes, I just recommended meatloaf at a restaurant) as entrees and for dessert the creme brûlée or cherry gobbler. What a shockingly incredible meal. We were a party of six staying at the hotel. The Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer we ordered twice because it was so good. The beer cheese pretzels, flat breads, meatloaf and portabella mushroom dinners were all tasty, well presented and memorable. We had the BEST creme brûlée, the chocolate cake and a cherry cobbler. My Chilean Malbec was something I ordered three times and well priced. We were so happy with this meal and the price and we will certainly return. read more

Slow, incompetent service. Sat at the bar and was unimpressed. The staff seemed to congregate there to tell stories of getting drunk and arrested. We probably would have sat for dinner but wanted to get as far away as possible. We were staying at the Inn so the following night they had a nice band on the patio. Again, 2 waitresses would roam the tables but we sat for a good 20 minutes with no service. Finally, went inside to order. We probably would have stayed for a second set and another round but decided not to. read more
