We had a problem with our 2014 Jeep. We were referred to McCoy Services, Inc. The roadside assistance driver assigned to us was Tyler. He was fantastic! He was on time. He explained everything every step of the way. He was so helpful and just a really nice guy. It really helps when you are stressed out when you're vehicle is broke down and someone comes with knowledge and kindness. From the very beginning the staff kept us informed and updated on arrival times. We were basically in the middle of nowhere, but they found us without a problem and in a timely manner. Our vehicle was towed to the shop of our choosing and everything went great! Tyler stuck around and made sure we were ok, before he left. I highly recommend this company and Tyler. I do service dispatch for a living, and I would never speak to someone in need the way their dispatcher spoke to me. The woman on the phone was shockingly rude -- talking over me, blaming my insurance for "lying," giving attitude when I simply asked for an update, and acting annoyed that I even needed help. I genuinely wish I had recorded the call. If this is who answers your phones, fire your dispatcher. The timeline speaks for itself: * Called at 7:30 AM * Got a confirmation text at 8:02 AM saying arrival would be within 45-75 minutes * Tow truck didn't show up until 10:15 AM When I pointed out the delay (calmly), she cut me off mid-sentence blaming the insurance and dryly asked if I wanted to cancel -- after I had already waited over an hour in the winter. Absolutely unprofessional and honestly disgusting. And the kicker? Yelp is full of the exact same complaints. So clearly this isn't an off day -- it's who they are. The disrespect and the dishonesty with which they have treated me is unforgivable, and I will never patronize this shop again. Here's why: I took my vehicle to McCoy's for brake and exhaust issues, and I asked for an estimate of the costs, which they provided. An extra $336 appeared out of nowhere. I understand that an estimate is indeed an estimate, but at no point did the folks at McCoy's contact me about $336. After I got my vehicle back, I called McCoy's and spoke with Janet. Janet informed me that the owner would be calling me back at some point. He didn't. I posted on Facebook, without naming the business, asking for advice from my mechanic friends. I had a horrific experience with Paul from McCoy Towing Company on 2/13/26. The driver was outrageously unprofessional, aggressive, and downright rude from the second he showed up. Paul started spewing curses before he even hit my driveway. The tow was for a non-drivable vehicle in a garage, going to the mechanic. He became extremely aggressive when he saw the car wasn't drivable, but that was exactly why I requested a tow. While my husband was on the phone, he continued to verbally assault me, saying things that you shouldn't say to a woman, let alone someone you're supposed to be providing a service for. While my husband tried to talk to him, he walked off with a sneer, "Call me when you're fucking ready," and drove off without towing the car. I called McCoy Towing Company and reported the incident to the dispatcher, who then connected me with the supervisor. I was promised the owner would contact me, but never did. And judging by other Yelp reviews, this is a recurring issue. If these are the kind of people they hire and send out to serve customers, I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND. Nothing worse than a breakdown on a holiday - we got into our suv and it was completely dead. I called Life 360's help line and was connected with McCoy Services for a tow. The driver arrived with a flatbed and we discussed the method of putting it in neutral, which normally requires electrical power. The driver did attempt to assist the battery but it was too far gone. Within a few minutes he had the suv chained and loading it onto him truck. It was towed 21 miles to my mechanic's shop and was placed into a parking space and the key fob was put into the night drop slot. The world's worst tow company in Joliet! This is a NEGATIVE star rating. The customer service is poor, unprofessional and the overall company offers no value. My parked car was side/rear ended by a drunk driver in front of my home. My insurance company contacted McCoys for a tow to a local collision shop. The tow scheduler contacted me for the intake details and informed me that an additional charge would apply stating my insurance company didn't set it up as a flatbed truck required. I informed the lady that I would not pay any additional charges as this is covered under the claim. She stated I would have to call the insurance company back and get things worked out otherwise they would not be able to send a driver out until this amount was paid in full. I ended the call and proceeded to contact the insurance company again. After speaking with American family insurance, I was informed that all details were provided in full length detail to advise the tow company that a flatbed truck would be required. The insurance company said they would contact the tow company. A short time later my car is now missing from in front of my home. Apparently the tow truck driver came and picked up the vehicle without a signature/paperwork release and then lied to my insurance company stating they rang my bell but no one came to the door. The collision company calls me and tells me that they are in receipt of my vehicle, but they said the tow truck driver claims the key was inside the vehicle and it was not because I was home the entire time and was not notified of the pickup to provide the driver with the key. This company has clearly proved that they will verbally lie to your face from the customer service Agent to the tow truck driver. Pay heed, Do not do any business with this company. Traffic was slow, as it normally is in the afternoon, and everyone was being patient except for the driver of a McCoy service truck. Horrible Service!!! I made a AAA roadside service request. Jim from McCoys was the tow truck that was dispatched. My van needed to be towed from an inconvenient spot. They told me that AAA only pays $35 + gas and that my tow could cost more but would not give me an estimate. Jim called a smaller truck out and towed my van out of the garage and told me that they considered it a recovery and I had to pay $600 or they would impound my vehicle. I asked him why a tow would be $600 just because they had to use a small truck and he threatened to impound my vehicle! Flat out extortion! While I was finding a place close to city to have it towed, this placed called me and said they could take it. Great- eager for my business. I hoped they would fix it quickly because I had a work trip planned and needed this resolved. They promised me they would look at it same day. NOTE: tow truck driver was awesome. They did not call me back until about closing time and said they "didn't know" what was the issue and said I must have poured oil in the wrong place and that explains the leak. (Ummm, buddy - no. I come from a family of car people and it's pretty obvious where oil goes.) The next day I called in the AM and promised to call me back. Nope. Called again in afternoon and would "drive it within the next hour and see and call [me] back." Nope. I called (again) at 5:20pm to demand they leave my car so I can pick it up tonight when I have family who can drive me the 50min down there. End result: $100 bill where all they did was check the oil, ran for 1 hour, and supposedly drove for 10miles (my odometer doesn't seem to have moved 10miles). Bill states a recommendation to "pressure wash" - but DUH they were supposed to do that yesterday. What a waste of time and money. read more

Over the next several weeks, they continued to promise that it would be fixed "soon," "in the next couple days," and "definitely by the end of the week." This place is THE BEST! AAA towed me here when my two front tires went flat on my way to Dallas!!! Apparently, all four brand new tires had been installed incorrectly in Skokie:-( Dave and everyone else in the shop were wonderful, fast, efficient, and honest. They had to replace only one tire and were able to fix the others.....the valve stems had not been replaced when the new tires were installed. Back on the road in an hour or less. No more problems after that. Dave picked me up in the tow truck in only a few minutes after AAA called on them. I ran over a bolt on my way to work and I used my roadside assistance through my insurance as I haven't changed a tire in a long time. McCoy Services came out within a half hour. Al was the technician. I spoke with him on the phone to verify my location and let me know his ETA. He was so nice and changed my tire quickly. He also told me my tire didn't need to be replaced just repaired which made me feel better.,I took my tire there this morning and everyone was polite and they fixed my tire and I was on my way!
