Good people, solid establishment but the parking can be a real issue!

Do not expect to find a parking spot if you take Saturday lessons. Between the dentist office and a…read morelittle kid group music class, pickings are slim. I have to illegally park at the school across the street and walk over. Wattle Road can be a game of Frogger. Fun running with an instrument case with drivers marginally watching. I get the place makes money from 8 kids in a group class, but they are not giving it away for private lessons. I shouldn't have to scrounge, and refuse to park in handicapped parking. Hoping management addresses this. If I owned a private business by them, I would be hacked.

Great place for my daughter to learn her singing lesson and her teacher does a good job encouraging…read moreher... But as for parking, it's a shame we come at a time and even a day that things should be winding down, but actually continues to be busy... That's where I always have to worry about my car getting hit or someone parking too close to... Wonder why if the academy is in the rear everyone parks there, while the side of the building by the dentist gives me (sometimes) a good available spot, but I have to walk around... And the Waiting Area: Not enough chairs & they are way close together, while across are a suede bench area which look like people walk on, as I notice the dust of feet on, (bottoms of shoes really) so improvement, I know can be done, is needed there, too... Maybe you should let me wait in the room that the set of drums are in... -- Dave

I've been coming here since I was in high school but it had been a good 20 years since I had been…read morehere last. What's funny is that I used to live around the corner, as well, until I sold my condo recently. I thought I had messed up my uncle's violin, the bridge had collapsed. I also wanted to get one of my bows restrung. They are by appointment only and I tried emailing them but didn't hear back, so I gave them a call today since I was going to be in the area. I got a new bow from them, as well as new strings. It was a little pricey, about $112, but I know it's a family business. The house looked exactly the same as I had remembered and they have all sorts of cool memorabilia and things on the walls. It looks like they can rent violins too, there were some little kids there who were starting out on their first violins which was nice. They threw in a cloth for me for free and also a luggage tag for the violin, which I thought was very nice. I highly recommend this place even if it's a 30 to 40 minute drive for you like it is for me now.

They cancelled an appointment I set up to look at new instruments, then failed to respond to two…read morefollow-up emails, they missed all my suggested times. It's totally unprofessional for them to treat anybody this way, and it's extra bad for their business, as I am a member of the Detroit Symphony and have students, and will certainly spread the word about my experience. Further, I stopped going to get my instrument serviced after Peter did an unprofessional job on my bridge, making it far too low, far lower than I requested, rendering it useless for my purposes. So I cannot at this time recommend this shop. There are plenty of alternatives with much more professional services.
