This is a great music group and store. I rented a violin for a few months in the fall, the monthly rental price was really reasonable since I wasn't sure if I would like playing and want to buy one. They have a ton of instruments for rent in their store. They offer lessons as well for whatever instruments on site. The lessons cost around $25-$30 a lesson. I did end up finding my own private instructor closer to my house. They set me up with the hard case, bow and rosin. I was also able to get the basic lesson book too. The violin was all tuned and had the shoulder rest on it already. The staff were helpful and informative and easy to work with for the rental and rental end process. If any musician/student needs any supplies, instrument repair or instruments, they are here for you. I was short of clarinet reeds, I contacted Mccourt's Music, the owner Dan got back to me the same day, took my order, with the option of mail by post office or dropping them off at my house. Dan personally came to my house with the reeds that I needed, placed them in my mailbox and followed up with me to say my purchase was waiting for me in my mailbox. Wow!! I have been coming here for some time. I buy my equipment here, take my step-son for lessons here. Their ads say "friendly staff." That's as long as you don't attempt to play an instrument in their store. While waiting for my step-son to finish his music lesson, I took a stool that was stacked up in the back of the store, away from everyone else, and started to get out my guitar. I didn't even have time as the woman in the office was out in a split second reading me the riot act. "Ummm...those stools aren't supposed to be used." Well I was just going to play my guitar for a bit waiting for my step-son. "I'm sorry those stools aren't to be used and we're trying to do business here." [Are you freaking serious? This is a MUSIC store in case you haven't noticed.] Can I use one of those empty rooms? "Ummm....no. They're for lessons." Yup...this in a music store. The first music store I've been in that won't let you play an instrument. And it was an acoustic and I wouldn't have played it loud at all. I will never use this store again and once my step-son is done with lessons, I'll take him to Berkley Music instead. Might want to review that "Friendly Staff" notice in your ads. read more

Ok, I'm this place is infuriatingly bad. The staff is so rude that it's not even funny, or at least to my experiences. The pricing here is out of wack it's just... bad. Few years ago before I knew anything about music, I bought a clarinet. Later I realized that I was paying wayyy to much for a instrument that wasn't even made out of wood! Once I went to buy reeds from my clarinet and that day I forgot to bring my glasses. I asked if I could get any closer to see the brand and he said you can see from there which I couldn't. It kinda pissed me off that he just guessed that I could see even though I asked him big I could get a little close so I could actually see which brand I want. With out a doubt one star. read more

Please be very careful when dealing with this company! They use very unprofessional and unethical business practices to prevent you from owning an instrument that you make payments on. We rented a violin from them and made payments on time for over three years. We set up automatic payments but when the credit card they had on a file expired and they made no attempt to contact us for 6 months to let us know that payments were not taken out of our account. I must assume this was due to the fact that we only owed $120 of the $1200 we made in rent to own payments because despite seeing that the problem was an expired card they had on file they waited until after the instrument would have been paid off to send it to collections. The bill collector informed us that despite only owing $120, we would be required to pay $360 for in back "rent" and needed to return the instrument. I returned the debt collectors call immediately and asked why I had not been contacted before it was sent to collections and was told that they had left messages on my fax number which is obviously not possible. I called and spoke to the manger of McCourt's named Lisa who stated that she had "attempted" to contact us and insisted she left messages with the fax machine. She clearly had our actual contact number as she is the one who provided my cell phone number to the collection agency. When I called her out on the messages as it is impossible to leave a message on a fax machine, she told us that we could either return the instrument for $0 in back rent or pay $120 to own the instrument. I told her I would discuss it with my husband and let her know.Three days later the debt collector called again and I told him I worked it out with McCourt's and he stated that she is not allowed to do that and he would call her. The next day my husband went to return the instrument and was told it was "too late" because Lisa only gave us three days to which was a lie. I called her and she lied and said it was in her "notes" but so was the "messages" she claimed to have left on the fax line. My step sister was present during my call and also said she never gave a time frame. I was there within the week after speaking to Lisa which is not an unreasonable amount of time. They simply wanted to keep the instrument after it was almost completely payed off. Shame on them! read more
