I came to the shop to get a new set of strings for my violin. No problems or concerns.

But as for parking, it's a shame we come at a time and even a day that things should be winding down, but actually continues to be busy... That's where I always have to worry about my car getting hit or someone parking too close to... Wonder why if the academy is in the rear everyone parks there, while the side of the building by the dentist gives me (sometimes) a good available spot, but I have to walk around... And the Waiting Area: Not enough chairs & they are way close together, while across are a suede bench area which look like people walk on, as I notice the dust of feet on, (bottoms of shoes really) so improvement, I know can be done, is needed there, too... Maybe you should let me wait in the room that the set of drums are in... -- Dave

I am very disappointed with Expression music academy in Troy. We have been with them for almost…read morethree years. They had a teacher who cancelled my 6 year old's piano lessons at the last minute. They offered substitute teachers who knew nothing about my son's lessons and ended up coming out confused and happy after his lessons. They wouldn't help us use make up lessons for regular classes after we had accrued about a dozen make up lessons because the teacher cancelled the last minute. The manager is particularly non understanding and unhelpful - she came out with suggestions like please donate your extra lessons to other parents!

Chris, without any notice or discussion with us, decided to dismiss my son from the school this morning, because I responded to a SoR customer survey that he didn't like. My concern and issue was mainly with the new ownership who I believe has changed the 'School of Rock Farmington' from a music loving family culture to a money focused operation that takes advantage of the love we have for our kids. Shortly after Chris took over the Farmington location, my first conversation with him consisted with him telling me how poorly the school used to be run by the prior management and how he was going to make everything bigger and better. Soon after the ownership change, Eric, the former GM, along with many other staff members that we loved, were gone. While I really didn't like the changes that I was seeing, I eventually decided to ignore it because my son was so in love with drumming. And most recently, I had an "interaction" with Chris over paying cover for two young kids that we had in our group from this past Sunday's mid-season concert. When I asked him why our 6 yr old daughter and her 6 yr old cousin needed to pay for cover (because little kids didn't need to pay before), Chris immediately got defensive and angrily told me that since he became the owner at Farmington everyone needed to pay no matter how young. Then he went onto tell me how expensive it was for him to run the shows and called me "petty" for even bringing this up. My son really loved the school and all of his teachers and friends he made so far at SoR Farmington. He really fell in love with drumming and really fell in love with music, which I credit the prior SoR management, and all former and current teachers and staff members for. My son and my family loved the program and would like to thank everyone at 'School of Rock Farmington' that looked after him. He's currently heart broken, but I'm hopeful that he will find a better school that looks out more for the kids than their own ego and bottom line. P.S. My brother-in-law emailed Chris this morning (without me knowing) because our whole family is heartbroken right now. Chris responded back saying that he will have my son back in his school as long as I changed my review score to an 8. I have no intentions of making any compromises and don't need to have my son back at his money/review hungry institution. I hope Chris well too and wish him luck as he tries to make a ton of money off the kids that just wants to love music.
