I dropped off my trumpet for some work and picked up a few items and I loved how friendly the staff. For repairs they gave a basic quote and then they will call once the instrument has been checked out for a final quote. I have no complaints, though I wish their Waterford store had a bigger selection of brass and woodwinds to look through. Everyone I met today was super friendly. I will update when I get my horn back and tell about the workmanship and final price compared to the original quote.

What's funny is that I used to live around the corner, as well, until I sold my condo recently. I thought I had messed up my uncle's violin, the bridge had collapsed. I also wanted to get one of my bows restrung. They are by appointment only and I tried emailing them but didn't hear back, so I gave them a call today since I was going to be in the area. I got a new bow from them, as well as new strings. It was a little pricey, about $112, but I know it's a family business. The house looked exactly the same as I had remembered and they have all sorts of cool memorabilia and things on the walls. It looks like they can rent violins too, there were some little kids there who were starting out on their first violins which was nice. They threw in a cloth for me for free and also a luggage tag for the violin, which I thought was very nice. I highly recommend this place even if it's a 30 to 40 minute drive for you like it is for me now.

It's totally unprofessional for them to treat anybody this way, and it's extra bad for their business, as I am a member of the Detroit Symphony and have students, and will certainly spread the word about my experience. Further, I stopped going to get my instrument serviced after Peter did an unprofessional job on my bridge, making it far too low, far lower than I requested, rendering it useless for my purposes. So I cannot at this time recommend this shop. There are plenty of alternatives with much more professional services.

To do a full rebuild on my tenor he wanted $1k, with $500 up front for supplies (pads, resos,…read moreetc.). After he strung me along for ten months I finally picked the horn up in pieces, the only thing he'd done was straighten the body tube and yank out all of the pads from the keys. He refused to refund any of the deposit, even though he hadn't even ordered any of the pads - claimed to have done half the work. He had previously quoted $140 to straighten the tube, which would require him to refit all of the keys and give it back assembled and in working order. My new tech (who didn't ask for an up front deposit) needed to do a bunch of key fitting before he could put it back together, the thing was a mess. Half the work done, my ass. Eventually he offered to give me $200 back but it's been weeks and he's just making excuses. Yeah, I know that I should have pulled the plug months sooner before he'd done anything at all to it, but I'd always liked the guy and didn't think that he'd backstab someone who'd always been a good customer and had recommended him so glowingly to everyone who asked. I wonder who else he's ripped off; I doubt I'm the only one, and the place looks like he's having serious cash flow issues. Stay away.

They couldn't verify certain aspects of the manufacturing, so instead of telling me this, they basically lied to me... multiple times... and let it gather dust for two years. I can't imagine what they were attempting to do in this situation, it was just baffling and so incredibly creepy. Please take your flutes elsewhere for consignment. These people are not honest.
