I bought a used guitar effects pedal online from this store. The battery compartment door was broken, battery leads exposed. I wanted to return it. I was willing to pay for shipping it back, and didn't expect the shipping to me to be refunded either. According to Music Go Round policy, "If the customer is not satisfied with the product(s) purchased online, for any reason", they can return it. The seller kept saying "What's wrong with it" and "When the item left my store, it was in perfect condition". There is no way it was in perfect condition. He is refusing to follow policy and let me return it. Music Go Round is a franchise company so unfortunately they are not all equal. The owner of this store will not follow the policy set by the company. He'll sell you a broken product and will not let you return it! read more

One of my favorite stores in the area. I've always been treated very well there, even when I just come in to look around. The staff are friendly, low key, and there's none of that Guitar Center hustle. They have a great assortment of used gear- everything from collectible guitars and amps to good mid priced gear to serious restoration projects. So far I've purchased several guitars, basses, a pair of congas, a couple of pedals, a few cymbals, and a banjo from them. I always make a point of dropping in when I'm shopping in the area, just in case they've got some interesting new amp or instrument. read more

I would have to disagree slightly with the previous review/tips, at least based on the guitar and bass gear. I would say this is a solid shop if you're looking for used stuff - they have some quite nice stuff and some really rough, project-level stuff (which I appreciate). Prices on pedals are quite reasonable. Good selection of cords and picks. Some prices they will negotiate on, if said item has been sitting for awhile or the like. The staff who helped me were polite and helpful, but not obtrusive or bothersome, which I also appreciate. Overall I was satisfied with my browsing experience; it's a cool place to come as well since they have some older stuff that you wouldnt see at Guitar Center (i.e. Kramer Aerostar from ~1986, needing a new nut and string tree). read more

I'm writing this from an online and phone call customer experience perspective. I was on the hunt for an old Guild D25M, and found one on the Musicgoround website. It just so happened to be at this store, and I gave them a call. The name of the sales associate who helped me was Chris, and I really appreciate everything he did for me. Not only was he willing to email more detailed photos, he even responded cheerfully to my requests like measuring string height, action, etc. He even recorded a sample of the guitar and sent it to me via email. I never got attitude, I never got any trouble asking for extra details, only a willingness to help. In the end, I was able to haggle a bit and get a great price on a great guitar, with really solid customer service. I don't know about the actual space or location, but my experience was terrific. I am a full time musician and basically grew up in the original Gus Zoppi Music store in the early 80's when my dad taught there. I definitely learned a thing or two about good customer service. This is one of the only music stores in the metro Detroit area that you don't get ignored nor do you get pestered by any sales associates. One thing people take for granted is that this is not a major corporation so they are not going to have a bunch of high end brand new gear there but they do acquire there are the "diamonds in the ruff" gear that you're not going to find at a larger store. If you are a working musician or just starting out and need a good deal and great service this is the place to go!! read more

Wow this place... It's something out of 1989. A bunch of serious garbage hanging or draped over busted cabinets or strewn about on the floor. Busted guitars and the junkiest cabinets and amps you've ever seen. Not one desirable thing in the store. A graveyard of dated gear that will sit and rot for eternity. It should be considered a museum. No joke, you can find Alesis gear circa 1988 that they are asking 2013 prices for. Rolland VS workstations, you remember them.. the giant all in one porta studios, worthless old Tascam reel to reel 2 tracks, and the prices, wowza, I don't know what is going on here... I have been stopping in this store for several years. I've never really purchased much except for strings, picks, and accessories. Yesterday, I purchased a used item. After I got it home, I noticed that there were a few missing pieces. I called and explained. Chris could not have handled it any better. 100% satisfaction. Fast too.
