I tried to sell my late mother's flute through them for two years. Every time we talked they promised they were trying their best, just come down in price and they'll have it sold in no time, will take it to shows and shop it around. Eventually I sent a relative to go pick it up due to lack of progress and it came out that they never actually put it up for sale. They couldn't verify certain aspects of the manufacturing, so instead of telling me this, they basically lied to me... multiple times... and let it gather dust for two years. I can't imagine what they were attempting to do in this situation, it was just baffling and so incredibly creepy. Please take your flutes elsewhere for consignment. I live in Jacksonville, Florida; Robert just happened to be in town for a convention, and left his business card on the bulletin board at our local Guitar Center. I had been considering fixing up my old flute for several months, and when I saw his card, I decided to give him a call. I can't say enough positive things about my experience with Flute Specialists! I played the flute in high school and college, and took private lessons as well as had amazing repairs and tune ups for my flute and piccolo from 2002-2006. If you are considering lessons for yourself or for your child, you simply need to go to Flute Specialists. My parents drove me all the way from Chesterfield, 45 minutes one way, because no one else compares. All of their instructors are beyond talented, and will completely transform your skills as a musician. Also, the flute choir and opportunities to perform in their recitals are amazing opportunities to improve your skills and practice performing in front of an audience. In high school I was always first chair and earned 1st division ratings at Solo and Ensemble with solos that I prepared with my instructor, so I decided to join the campus band just for fun when I went to Michigan State since it is catered to students who are not music majors but want to enjoy music as a hobby. When auditioning for chairs for a particularly fussy director, he stared at me in disbelief and asked me why I wasn't a music major since my skills were on par with students who had passed the rigorous audition process to be admitted into the School of Music. I was completely shocked. OMG the place to take your flute or piccolo. My daughter sat on her flute thought for sure it was done for. The fixed it for $40. Had an old student flute that one shop said need over $200 in repair, they cleaned and set up that one for $40. We drive from Novi to use them. read more
