The first, a standard 5x8 enclosed Uhaul trailer which they said should work. Unfortunately, due to the additional size of their pallet it would not fit in the opening. The second was a very large toy hauler trailer but they said there was no way to secure the piano to the trailer. This all took about an hour of discussion. I was very pleasant and accepted that it was not going to happen. The manager then called me and said they were charging me a service call fee of $350. when I told her I thought that was unreasonable she said too bad and hung up the phone on me. I was prepared to pay something reasonable like $200, but they refused to discuss. You don't need to use greedy businesses like this, there are other piano companies. To add insult to injury they said my Young Chang baby grand was in excellent condition and they would give me $750 For it.

I recently purchased a piano from Linda at Solich Piano's Troy location and could not be more…read morepleased with the whole experience. From the beginning, Linda was professional, knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely interested in helping me find the right piano. There was no pressure to make a quick decision, and she took the time to answer all of my questions, including some very technical questions. Linda's expertise and attention to detail made the process stress-free and enjoyable. Interestingly, the piano that I ended up purchasing was priced far less than the piano that I originally intended to purchase, however, it meets my needs better. Also, Solich Piano has a trade-up policy where your original purchase price can be applied to an upgraded piano should my needs evolve over time, reducing the risk that I purchased a piano that could be outgrown. If you are shopping for a piano, I recommend that you stop by and let Linda help you find the piano that best fits your needs.

What's funny is that I used to live around the corner, as well, until I sold my condo recently. I thought I had messed up my uncle's violin, the bridge had collapsed. I also wanted to get one of my bows restrung. They are by appointment only and I tried emailing them but didn't hear back, so I gave them a call today since I was going to be in the area. I got a new bow from them, as well as new strings. It was a little pricey, about $112, but I know it's a family business. The house looked exactly the same as I had remembered and they have all sorts of cool memorabilia and things on the walls. It looks like they can rent violins too, there were some little kids there who were starting out on their first violins which was nice. They threw in a cloth for me for free and also a luggage tag for the violin, which I thought was very nice. I highly recommend this place even if it's a 30 to 40 minute drive for you like it is for me now.

It's totally unprofessional for them to treat anybody this way, and it's extra bad for their business, as I am a member of the Detroit Symphony and have students, and will certainly spread the word about my experience. So I cannot at this time recommend this shop. There are plenty of alternatives with much more professional services.
