Thr Commissary is definitely a 5.star rating in value, quality, service and professionalism. No doubt, coast to coast. My 1 star deduction in Quantico has to do with connectivity. More often than not, cellphone/smartphone connections to the outside world are spotty at best, and impossible at worst. I'm always able to find what I need here. The prices for food here are much better than at Walmart, Costco, or other retail chains. Their produce selection is great. Their meat department is always helpful and has great deals. The store is always clean and their employees are super nice. I once dropped a huge coffee in the self checkout area and I was so embarrassed. The employee manning that area was quick to come over and tell me it was alright and not to worry about it. I offered to help clean it up but he took care of it and just told me to have a good day. I really appreciated him in that moment. As an ingredient household, one thing I'm kinda shocked they don't carry is cocoa powder. It seems so simple and is a baking staple I'm sure many people need but they don't have it. Boy, oh boy have they upgraded this place since the last time I visited. I love it! Everything is well organized and I love the extra design work/decorations they have going on. Even better, the self checkout lanes that were running very smoothly. Most items are cheaper by a couple-few dollars on top of coupons being available throughout the store. Employees were kind as well. Though not directly connected, there is a little bit of a covered walkway from the exchange to the commissary so you won't get too wet if it's raining outside. read more

The Quantico commissary is smaller and older than others, though I think they are working on rebuilding it (hence that lovely commissary surcharge). I don't shop here often, though I used to when I lived in Stafford. My favorite part about it is the fish counter. It does not fulfill all of my shopping needs, but I can definitely get the basics here. read more

I'm so happy that the Commissary has finally expanded. With the construction still going on, it can get a little bit hectic; the parking lot being blocked off right in front of the building and whatnot. It's very nice to have the added space, so I can't complain too much. Maybe now the 1st and 15th of the month won't be so terribly packed, with everyone in there at once buying their paycheck groceries. With the added space inside, I really wish there was a plan to add parking. Even without the expansion the parking situation there was pretty bad. Now it's just downright chaotic. I almost wish the Marine Corps Marathon building wouldn't have been put up right next to it, so that space could have been used for additional parking. Not sure how they'd fix the problem now. At the end of the day, I'll still keep going back. You can't beat the deals you get there, and not having to pay sales tax is a big plus in my book. If there is something that you'd like the Commissary to regularly carry or order for you. Just ask the service desk. They rarely turn down a request. :) read more

I can't really compare this to other military commissaries, as I've only been to two others - it's better than the one at Fort Eustis but not quite as great as the one at Fort Lewis. But as far as grocery shopping is concerned - this blows away most grocery stores I've been to. Quantico's commissary is huge and has a great selection of items. There are a lot of Italian cooking ingredients that I can't ever find in my local market - but I always find them at the commissary. Everything there has been fresh and you can't beat the prices. It does get packed, especially on the weekends, but it's not too bad during the week. You need a good amount of time because there are so many aisles and so many choices. But when it's really busy there are line coordinators at the checkout that help direct you to the next available cashier, which really helps keep things moving. You do need a military ID to shop there. read more

Commissaries are pretty much all the same. This one is very clean, expertly laid out and stocked with friendly staff and cashiers! This commissary comes in second to the one on Camp Pendleton however. Very pleased with my experiences here. read more

As far as grocery shopping goes it has everything you need it is a large store. However the staff could use an upgrade, most of them are rude and look at you as if you're a nuisance to them. Stand by for the baggers to curse you under their breath if they're not happy with your tip or wish to push your own groceries to your vehicle. The Parking is atrocious, plan ahead to battle with dependents and retirees for parking spots and breathing room throughout the store. Basically a typical commissary, put up with the pain for some savings or avoid the headache for a few extra bucks while you're out in town. read more

of course i'll be a fan, the prices are good, brand selection is decent, and workers seem pleasant -- but i never go on or around pay day. this commissary is a bit small compared to san diego 32nd street, hawaii pearl harbor. it's probably about the same size as oceana virginia beach and perhaps miramar san diego. it's currently under renovation, so it's a bit chaotic inside -- but it's improving as they complete renovations. it will be nice to see the completed project. wish they had a better selection of produce -- both variety and quality. it would also be nice to have a larger selection of organic products. i wish they carried asian eggplant, asian long beans, and bok choy (specifically because i was looking for them each of the five times i've been there). another thing they don't have is tomato paste in the tube....weird request, i know....but they have the pesto & anchovy, why not the tomato!? it's great when they have their specials or coupons. you can get deals on brand name products. read more

I've been back quite a few times since that review. It's pretty great still can be very confusing as far as the arrangement goes. They are expanding it so that is great. There isn't much of a selection and it doesn't have any random stuff like roasted vegetables crackers. It isn't that bad price some things are just as expensive but there are a bunch of coupons. I have been shopping at the Quantico Commissary since the mid 70's , I have seen many renovations, many of the commissaries we're small , especially the 1 at the navy yard and bolling AFB, but the advantage was that each military branch may carry something different from what the other base would carry, People will complain about anything, the best thing for Us military families that there is no Tax , be thankful, Quantico has really changed through out the years the PX area as well, but the commisarry is a pain when there is being construction done on the inside , 1 thing now you will get your exercise when shopping in there, the meat dept id great, you can buy in bulk as well ,,,, so I have no complaints , just happy that I have a choice when I don't want to go to the Safeway or giant and go broke, read more

Don't go on a payday because you'll get trampled. Stay away from self-checkout too...those machines are about the worst thing America could do. Pretty good selection of stuff, and moderately priced...but I feel like there's no real motivation for shopping there other than it's located on base. I compared cost to COSTCO with a scientific algorithm (I looked at two receipts) and found they're pretty much the same, except Costco has a little better value. Parking is ridiculous, and workers could use a little more experience in customer service. Overall...I'd say "eh". read more

I just recently had a horrible experience with Quantico Commissary. I have shopped their for years because Fort Belvior is to far. Never had a problem until 02 January 2020. I was in self check out and as I was about to pay for my merchandise the self checkout machine stopped working and it remained in buffing mode until I called for help. The cashier assisted me and stated that it will come back up. Five minutes later it didn't. She shut the machine down for it to reboot, I had no problem I waited, and waited and waited until the machine went into a DOS mode and would not reboot it FROZE. I had to have all of my items redone on another machine (one machine was already down) and needless to say I was out of there after spending 30 minutes in self checkout with a broken machine. The problem is I never got confirmation that the transaction was cancelled although the cashier assured me the transaction was cancelled. NOPE, I ended up with two charges on the same day of $138.40 (first transaction with coupons accepted) $139.76 (second transaction coupons not accepted). I have been trying for 16 days to get my money back and no luck. I keep getting the run around from Ms. Virginia Richmond of Quantico, to the credit card people of DECA Ms. Middley, to Ms. Claudia and now Ms. Charlene Jacobs all telling me that there is a problem with their bank. Needless to say I'm a Retired Vet on a budget suffering because your bank has an issue giving back my refund to me who was overcharged. I tried to go through Navy Federal Credit Union by filing a dispute and informed them of the situation. Needless to say they were no hep. Navy Federal claim they did an investigation and there was no cancellation of a charge amount of $138.40. They obviously did not do anything, but wait to see if the charge cleared and "BOOM" there it is... NO ISSUE. So once this issue is solved I will be closing my account with them. The charge never went through because the machine jammed and I never ever got a receipt and had to have my merchandise rung up again on another machine. Now today 17 January 2020 I have to wait until Ms. Charlene Jacobs come back on Tuesday because it is a FREAKING HOLIDAY WEEKEND. I was told that this happened to others (which I doubt). I want to know if this actually happened to anyone besides me and you are waiting for DECA's bank to refund your money? read more

It is obvious those who say this commissary is HUGE have never been to any other commissaries, especially the one at Langley AFB, VA. Hopefully when the reno is finished it will be better. Look closely at the items you buy as the stockers put open and crushed boxes on the shelves. The only reason I go there is the savings, definately not the amount of items. read more
