DO NOT COME HERE' Right off the bat the girl behind the counter taking the orders was rude. The guy in front of me was still deciding what he was and she looked past him to me and asked for my order. I told her I just wanted a 1/2 turkey sandwich. She got irritated with me because I said I just wanted a plain sandwich. She charged me for the 1/2 sandwich and charged me additionally for a "craft" sandwich and charged me for cheese on top of that. She didn't bother to explain this would be additional charges. I am torn while writing this review. There was only one person working the counter--taking orders, bagging carry out and waiting on the tables in the entire restaurant. Clearly and impossible job, and the young lady was hustling to cover everything. So.....15 wait to place my order with only 2 persons I front of me. 15 minute wait for food. Did not get a receipt, but pretty confident that $20 was too much for a sandwich and iced tea. I hate eating a salad with plastic ware, but there also weee no forks, only a spork! It is so frustrating and such a hassle to order delivery and everything is wrong. It's happened multiple time, but tonight the lackluster response from management prompted this review. Someone in the kitchen isn't paying attention and it works out to more fees, tip and aggravation for the customer. I ordered just a spud add chili and cheese with butter and sour cream. See if you can find the second shred of cheese in the photo. Recently it's been a mess of no tomatoes no cucumbers and the orders coming full of tomatoes and cucumbers. Tortilla soup delivered with crackers instead of tortillas and so on and so on. Please double check orders before they go out. This should be mandatory. Will not go back. A few weeks ago on our visit, we were treated horribly. It started with the girl at the register who had an attitude a mile long. She questioned everything we said with a scowl on her face. She forgot to give us our order number for our table. She brought it over, throwing it in the table. Meal arrived. Sandwich was awful. We went in and ordered 2 simple meals. There was one other family in the restaurant before us. It took them over 45 minutes to make and deliver our cold meal. The only thing that was hot was my husband's soup. My dinner had cheese on top but it was barely melting and the meal was not hot enough to melt butter. When I went to ask for a to go container, the manager was speaking with someone at the front counter about what I would consider inappropriate topic for a restaurant. She ended up comping our meal. I ordered the Spud Max without olives, extra cheese, and bacon. It came with olives, no extra cheese or bacon, even though I paid for it. There was hardly any cheese on it. This was the driest potato I've ever had! I spoke with the manager there. She was very nice and helpful. Since I ordered through Uber Eats, I needed to call their customer service department about the potato for partial refund. She said if they weren't helpful, then call her back. I'd need to come into the restaurant, and she'd give me a partial refund. Uber Eats gave me a refund on the extra bacon and cheese. It's a shame whoever made my potato didn't pay attention putting my order the correct way. Even without the extras it was the worst potato I've ever had there. This used to be one of the best places for lunch on 28. The past year or two there has been a massive downturn in quality and reliability (with an increase in pricing every year). I ordered the nachos because I saw someone have the the time I was in before. I was sent home with a box of chips and two containers. One filled with this burnt looking cheese and then one stuffed with some chunks of tomatoes, green onion , shredded cheese and avocado, a small container of jalapeños. I'd say the "half sandwich" portion was a quarter the size of their normal sandwich serving at best. The baked potato was quite small and extremely over baked. I arrived at 2:30 pm so I understand the potato might not have been fresh but the tiny portion sizes was shameful for the $15 cost. One other disappointment was the lack of service. We have been loyal to McAlisters chain for over 20 years. Been going to Cornelius location for several years (they even knew us by name at one point) and it has definitely gone downhill. We let it go the first couple times they left something out of our order, excusing it as a mistake. But after several times, it's no longer an innocent mistake. Plus this last time half our food was missing and what was there was over cooked and gross. There were only 4 families in the restaurant when we picked up our food so it's not like they were super busy. My husband is so pissed and said we're not going back ever again. I'm appalled at this locations cooks lack of care. Cross contamination is not ok, being rude is not ok, getting mad because you cross contaminated an allergen on a customers sandwich is not ok. The visit started off nice. We ordered, were seated, and didn't wait a long time at all for our food. The server was amazing. Super sweet and topped off drinks. I ordered a Rueben sandwich and first bite tasted amazing! I dug into it right away. I finished the first half in a flash. But before I got to my second half, my mouth started burning. Then my throat, lips, and then my stomach knotted up. I took a break from eating thinking I'd eaten too fast, but that wouldn't have explained the burning sensation. Then I saw it. Avocado, right there where my Rueben has been cut. But Rueben don't have avocado , I'm allergic to it, so why on earth was it on my sandwich. We came to the conclusion that after cutting my friends bmt with avocado, the cook must've cut mine next. Normally I wouldn't nit pick this and no they didn't know, but I thought having a Rueben I was safe from having an allergic reaction because I trust a chef to know how to be clean with potential cross contamination and allergens. I feel this mishap was just a result of being lazy. It's common sense to be clean to avoid the issue. My husband took my plate to the counter and was assured another sandwich would be made. I was grateful but the avocado was wreaking havoc in my stomach too much for me to care- I needed to vomit, plain and simple. And that's what I did. So my husband asked the counter staff if we could get the remake to go. He replied "oh you want us to remake it? Ok." I don't blame my hisband for his confusion- if you say your going to do it, do it. Whether I'm going to eat it then or not. The server brought us the new and improved Rueben minus the avocado (yay!). She was awesome and so apologetic. Unlike the cook who GLARED at us the entire time. Yes, glared at us. I must say if you're going to give a customer the stink eye- do it after we leave. Pretty brazen considering the mistake, as if I were the problem and not his lack of safety. I will not be back, ever. The only reason this establishment even has a one star is because of our server. Wow. We used to come here often, very often, but since one opened in Mooresville we haven't been by this location in quite a while. Sadly, our recent visit was not good in any way. We arrived before the Friday lunch crowd and promptly stopped in the restroom to wash our hands after our playground adventures. The restroom was disgusting. Counter top soaked, paper towels overflowing the trashcan, toilets....gag. Mildew-y plunger was a lovely touch. It gives the restroom that Frat House feel I'm sure the kids from neighboring Davidson College greatly appreciate. After washing off the playground dirt (and restroom funk) we proceeded to order a french dip, Savannah salad, and two PB&J kid's meals. The salad was good, though one piece of the chicken was an odd gray color and texture. The PB&J woulda been hard to screw up. The kicker was the side of mashed potatoes & gravy. My son's potatoes were like kindergarten paste. Totally inedible even w/added gravy. Then there was the French Dip. 90% bread, 10% cool meat. Not hot. Not warm. Cool. To quote Clara Peller: "WHERE'S THE BEEF?" The Mooresville location always manages to provide a well balanced bread to meat ratio...not a heaping portion that falls apart, but enough HOT roast beef to get a satisfying taste w/each bite. This time around, I literally had bites of nothing but bread. If the server had not been nice and the dining room very clean, the food would rate just one star. read more

Although McAllister's locations seem to be a bit inconsistent, the one in Cornelius is definitely one of the better ones. For starters, it is in a really cool building, almost ski lodge-esque on the interior, with exposed beams and the roof rising to an A-point. The walls are decorated with local sports jerseys and posters, giving it a decidedly hometown feel. The outdoor patio area has plenty of tables and can be a good place to relax and traffic watch. The food is also good at this location. Turkey and swiss on croissant is my general meal of choice, and when its available, I also get the excellent broccoli and cheese soup. Parking can be a bit of a problem, with the lot outside serving a row of businesses, which is why I'm giving this location only 4 stars. Very popular spot for lunch, but the service inside keeps things moving along, so the wait never seems too bad. And, of course, McAllister's has some of the best sweet tea around! read more

We used to love McAlisters. After coming to this location today, I'm not sure if I'll be back. The cheese for the nacho basket was so dry it wouldn't get on the chips. It was congealed when they brought it to the table. We sent it back and they brought back more of the same. It used to be very liquid-like. We ordered soup and when they brought it to the table, it was extremely under portioned. After going and asking about it, we were told it was because they ran out of soup. In the past 48 hours I've been to McAlisters deli in Cornelius twice and it was my first trip ever Monday. I can't say enough how friendly and respectful this staff was. Erin was so helpful recommending entrees for me given it was my first visit ever! Shaundah (I believe) the manager was so kind to deliver our food and 5 minutes later came to check if everything was up to standard including the sanitation due to COVID-19 As well as customer service and food quality I will be eating at McAlisters for years to come.
