Stopped by for a Saturday evening meal. Although there are Muddy Cow locations and an MC's Taproom near home, it didn't click until I read the menu which felt familiar. I'm a fan of both of those in the northern/northwestern metro, and this place didn't disappoint! They really committed to the "garage" esthetic. The handles were tools, there were car parts all over, and even the bathroom sinks fit the part. We loved it! We sat on the patio, as recommended by the host, and were able to enjoy the gorgeous fall weather. The drinks were refreshing and generally strong. The international was like their take on a Bahama Mama, and the Mercedes was an elevated Vodka Cran. Both accompanied our meals beautifully. I opted for the Spicy Dill burger with fries and seasoned sour cream. I loved the crunch of the banana peppers and the way the cream cheese helped mute the acidity. Their fries are meaty, crispy, and overall delicious. Pair it with the seasoned sour cream and you're set! read more

The newest addition to Mankato is MC's Garage - a retro garage themed burger a brew restaurant. There dining and bar area are both large with a line of TVs facing both directions separating the two spaces. It is very bright and airy with a tasteful amount of classic car garb. The service was friendly and offered up plenty of suggestions. Regularly checking on the table. Started with the "Trash Can Nachos". The serving size was pretty generous with a number of tostada chips covered with meat and veggies. Meat was just okay with what tasted like a pretty generic "taco" seasoning. Would have liked fresh sliced jalapeños as well instead of pickled. The "PB&J Chicken Sand (yes, sand) had a really good flavor and the bacon was cooked perfect. Chicken breast was not juicy but not dry and had a very crunchy exterior. Peanut butter was delicious but didn't taste much of the hot jam. "Olive You" Burger was LOADED with cream cheese and an ample amount of green olives. Patty was cooked towards the well done side and could have been more medium. Great bar/restaurant in Mankato. If you're craving a burger or sandwich this is the place. There is much more too. The top hits from our group were the Blackberry BBQ Wings and the Pulled Pork Mac Bowl. A large amount of options to fit anyone's cravings. The trash can nachos are a must if you are looking for an appetizer to share with group of 5+. Comes with side of salsa and sour cream. My favorite burger was the Carnitas burger. A lot of meat and tons of toppings, but tasted so great. I would order this same thing next time. And I need to say their fries might be one of the best fries I've ever tasted. This place was delicious! My husband and I both ordered the jalapeño burger, which as everyone can see from the picture, was delicious and I ate every bite. The French fries were crispy and well seasoned. My kids all ordered the Mac n cheese and the tenders. The Mac n cheese was not that nasty Kraft Mac that most restaurants bring out and my daughter liked it. My other two kids scarfed down their chicken tenders, my husband had a bite and said it was very tender and juicy. We came in here on a Wednesday afternoon and there were only like 3 other people in the restaurant. The waitress was very attentive and kind. Great service! The menu offers great bar food options. Their specialty is their burgers. The 3alarm was fantastic. The biggest shocker was the trash can nachos, they come out in a gallon tin can layered with yumminess and then flipped onto a tray at your table...enough to feed a table of 6 or more! I'm just gonna get to it. Excellent service! The food was either under seasoned or over seasoned, there was no in between. The philly cheesesteak was completely unseasoned and the toppings were about room temp. They boneless wing dry rub, buffalo ranch, was more salt than any other flavor and it was caked on. The cheese curds were so damn good though. The coleslaw had a coconut undertone to it that I didn't love, but that's just my taste. The biggest bummer is that they serve sweet pickles. I will try this place again because I think some other menu items have promise. read more

We really wanted to enjoy our lunch out, but it was a poor experience from start to finish. The waitress was unfamiliar with the drink menu even though the sign says burgers and brew. We ordered an appetizer (pickle fries) that came out over salted, over cooked, and our food instead of ahead like we asked for. Somehow all of our food came out both overcooked and cold. The waitress brought fries instead of onion rings as requested. She had to have them made, so they came out long after or meals were finished. Also, we had to ask for utensils and were never offered drink refills. Disappointing all around. Needless to say we won't be back. read more

I got take out and had a burger so sloppy I could barley hold it together to eat it. The bun was so soggy half of it had turned to mush when I got it home. To pick up takeout you have to go to the bartender who is often busy and can't help you for several minutes leaving you standing there waiting. read more

Atmosphere was really nice, was not by any means impressed with the food. Chicken tenders were the same as the boneless wings, breading was good but chicken was thin so it was overcooked. The Spicy Hay Bale is marketed as Onion rings, they were by no means onion rings. They were onion STRINGS and weren't burnt to all hell so it was basically just greasy burnt breading with sauce. This was most likely due to frying the banana peppers at the same time. Was onion loaf like, that means the basket was never shaken while frying. (Was also served with spoons??) The sauce for the "wings" was good, we got the Maple Bacon. It could have been applied a bit better looked just thrown on while in the basket. Fries were oddly shaped but were very good. Overall it was a nice place but the items we got were sub par. It looks like the burgers and poutine are the main attraction and I would try that if I were to go again. It was pretty busy as we were there at a peak time, so service wasn't the best. After we received our food we did not see our server until they brought the check. So no drinks were refilled. For my ranch lovers, 8.5/10. Creamy, thick, was a beautiful sauce. read more

We did have an issue where they served a meat burger to someone who requested a veggie burger, even after we double checked they said it was the right one. We were super excited to try this place out! Finding out they are among the Muddy Cow franchise we had good expectations. We enjoyed all of the food and the service was good. They told us a 45 min wait on food but it came out really fast! One of the inconveniences we experienced was the 3% credit card fee on the bill. Considering most people don't expect to pay with cash at a restaurant and they come from a dozen other restaurants in the state, we thought this was kind of off... "Pink Cadillac" drink was decent. One of the items we ordered had blue cheese crumbles but we were served blue cheese dressing. Not a huge deal but notable. Overall good and we will definitely try again! read more

Good bar food and burgers. Draft beer was fresh from bottom fill glasses. Nice atmosphere for conversation when hockey bingo not in session. Our recent server was friendly enough but facial piercings and tattoos an unpleasant distraction. Why people poke holes in a nice face-and tattoo everywhere I'll never understand. Stopped in on St Patty's Day for burger, beer, and NCAA basketball. Was surprised it wasn't busier, but it was a cold MN night. The place is in a convenient location, clean, and the staff was friendly. I had a Mushroom Swiss burger which was excellent and cooked with the option of "pink" or "no pink". Fries were wedge cut and pretty decent. Many of the customers were planning scratch lottery which provides a fun option beyond standard bar activities. There were lots of TVs and staff was fine with tuning a TV to the game of my choice. There is a lot of cool tools used in a clever fashion as decor which spoke to my inner gear head. Both bar and restaurant closed at 11pm which seems a bit early for a Friday, but overall I was glad I stopped by and would visit again. read more

I'm trying to give this place a chance. I have been to other locations and have always enjoyed my visit. Today is the second time here in Mankato. They need to take it up a notch. The spinach artichoke cheese dip today was disgusting. If a cat ate too much grass and got sick on the plate it would look the same. The flavor was not even close to what it should be. I am afraid to ask what actually went in it. Could it be that the staff that we flagged down because we were ignored was ready to leave on a shift change? I have no idea. I wish I could say it was the worst experience I've ever had but I didn't even get to have an experience. Stood by the door for 50 minutes waiting to get a table. Got sick of waiting and went and stood by the bar to get a beer. Stood there for 5 minutes. The bartender never once looked at me. Told them to cancel my reservations and I left. I understand it's busy but 50 minute wait for a basic ass cheeseburger without getting a table AND not being able to get a drink while I wait is completely unacceptable. I will never go back. Saturday afternoon with no happy hour specials, the food came fast but the philly cheesesteak was mostly fat and left uneaten and the chips were excessively seasoned.
