We had about 12 people for my Aunt's 80th birthday at Mayfair. Everyone raved over the delicious food and the service was perfection! Great place with great food and great service! Can't ask for more! read more

Hands-down the absolute best seafood that we have had since we moved from New England 14 years ago! The seafood was fresh and delicious and the batter on the seafood platter items was absolute perfection for this New England girl! Great prices, excellent menu selections and very friendly service! Usedta love "fish camps" when I was a kid and this place brought back some good memories until the plates hit the table. The fish was rubbery and tasteless while the fries were dry and overcooked. Even the always reliable hush puppies lacked flavor. Maybe not go on a Sat. Nite. Think they were understaffed. read more

We have been there once a week for past few months at slow times and like the food. We dropped in near 5pm Friday and business was heavy. The problem I had was the state mask rules , social distance and cleaning of menus between customers were were not implemented. We walked out and want go back . read more

Excellent fried fish, light batter not greasy, the coleslaw and huspuppies were great too. Come hungry you will be full when you leave. Make sure you check out the new dining room. Great spot for family dinners! They also have a drive up area out back where you can get it to go as well. Whichever way you get it you will be happy if you love Both Carolina fish camp type places! read more

Seafood is amazing!! The loaded baked potato looked as if it was cooked yesterday and the service was horrible. And when I complained to management they couldn't ring my check up fast enuf! read more

This spot is a great local place that serves some of the best seafood around. Fun, friendly and family oriented atmosphere that also provides drive through pickup and take out. They serve the best fried calamari and hush puppies in NC!!!! Their dishes are abundant and carefully made. Staff all wear masks and gloves and the manager is always on top of everything!!! Love this place!!!!!! read more

If you're a regular here, beware of the new menu prices! Everything on the menu has gone way up in price!! Senior plates have gone from a little over $10 to $14! Three item platters have gone from a little over $14 to almost $17! Some of the portions were smaller than they used to be. People at a neighboring table, stated one piece of fish they ordered was was over $5. People at another table stated their portions were smaller too. We talked with the owner about the decreased portions and increased prices, he replied in a very loud voice "And what's the problem?" Needless to say, he's lost a regular customer! While the food is good and always hot, it's not a fancy high-end restaurant for those prices! read more

Used to enjoy the takeout plates but the last few plates of popcorn shrimp have been ridiculously greasy. Coupled with their recent price increase and a surcharge they now add for each takeout plate, we will be looking for a new seafood option in Monroe. Mayfair has lost our business. read more

This was my 2'nd visit to this restaurant, and just like my first visit in 2013, it was extremely good. The parking lot was totally full - which is to be expected on a Saturday night! Once inside, you see that this is a big restaurant with several dining areas, and there were lots of people here. However, we were quickly taken to a table and in less than 2 minutes, our waiter appeared. Once we were ready to order, we received our food in less than 10 minutes. It was UNBELIEVABLY quick, especially since neither of us ordered anything broiled or grilled - which takes longer to prepare, as stated in the menu. I ordered a "senior" 2-combo platter with fried scallops and fried flounder, and my husband ordered the salt/pepper fried flounder. In this restaurant, "senior" doesn't mean age-related plates only available to older individuals, but rather a smaller-portion plate. It gets confusing to those of us that aren't quite seniors, but our waiter explained it to us. After a bit, I overheard a waitress explaining to another customer the same deal with the "senior" plate - except this young lady could have actually been a "senior" ...in high school!! :) The food was NOT greasy at all; I had a nice sized piece of flounder that had some "meat" to it - if you will, and the scallops were very good as well. Their tarter sauce contains dill pickles - which I immediately loved! I only used a little of the cocktail sauce - not enough to give a good opinion on it - but I'm thinking it could stand a bit more horseradish in it. Their hush puppies are circular, and resemble cake-doughnuts. Tonight, I saw that their health grade was a 97.5, and from what I could see - the restaurant was as clean as a whistle - and I certainly didn't see any insects or bugs!!! Service was quick, food was great, and the restaurant was very clean! We were in and out of there in 45 minutes - tops! Again, on a Saturday night at approx 6:35 PM? That is unheard of anywhere. read more

There salads come with Bacon! lol! There Cheese sticks are good and jumbo shrimp is even better! The catfish wasn't done right to my tasting but happily they substituted and gave me a few dollars off my plate. read more

This is one of the best seafood restaurants! The food is delicious and the service is super friendly. I asked how long it has been in Monroe and they said since 1991. This says a lot about how good this place is! read more

Came on a Friday night and the place was packed. No wait though. Soups were very tasty - lobster bisque tasted delicious but no lobster pieces in it and a little watery but great taste. All the food was quite good. Nothing greasy. Platters were full. Wait staff very friendly and service quick considering the amount of people there. Family friendly place. Great prices! read more

Love Mayfair great food , great prices. !! I Recommend this place for sure ! Service is great , place is always packed! Fast service!

great food and excellent service with reasonable prices! Will be back soon! Thank you so much for having us!

Every time I've gone, I've never been on a waiting list, nor have I needed a reservation. The staff is always SUPER friendly and attentive, without being too invasive. Not to mention that I have never wait too long for my food. Good is always the perfect amount of full that you can tell it's popular but never too crowded. Also Amazing food and nicest people you will meet. Overall great place to go. read more

Service was very friendly, polite, and responsive. Medium fried seafood platter was huge. I can't imagine the large. I had hoped not to gain ten pounds at dinner so the idea of a plate with fries, fried hush puppies, and fried seafood was a bit off putting. They had salad on the menu, but one went by my table and it looked like someone threw a head of iceberg lettuce into the ceiling fan and covered it with dried bacon bits. I thought the restaurant was clean. Not great atmosphere but fine. Food was okay. Kind of hard to screw up frying everything. read more

I have been eating here since I was a child and hands down some of the best seafood I have eaten. I will say the menu prices went up but let's not forget so does everything else in the world. The portions have gotten smaller but I am still 100% satisfied and the server was excellent! read more

Have been going weekly for a few years now. Cannot believe the owner raised the prices and reduced the portion sizes! We are so very disappointed and feel bad for the waitresses catching the grief for the manager's greediness! The manager was a jerk when a neighboring table questioned him! Shame on him! We won't be going back! read more

I took an out of town guest there for dinner on March 15. When our meals arrived, we were greeted by a baby roach crawling across the table. Baby roaches suggest that much larger ones are present. We informed the manager, who did not seem at all phased that a roach had appeared at our table. The only thing he was concerned with was making sure the other patrons were not aware of what happened. He offered to replace my friend's meal, but took nothing from our check and offered no apology. I will NEVER, EVER return to this place. All I cay say is eat here at your own risk. read more

We have been craving some king crab legs and crab cakes. I called the restaurant before going there to see if the "Alaskan Crab Legs" on the menu were King or Snow. The lady on the phone said, "they are the really big ones". "Big snow crab or are they really King?" "King I guess" This should have been my first sign not to go, but I was desperate. The second sign was the type of restaurant it was. It was not bad, but it just looked like it was a cafeteria at a workplace. I ordered calamari for an appetizer. It sounded good because it was supposed to be tossed with peppers. For some reason my brain was thinking it might be like Capital Grille's. Um no. The calamari was chewy like rubberbands and tossed with jarred banana peppers. We didn't even get appetizer plates. My husband ordered his crab cakes and they looked like grey hockey pucks. He took one bite and could not eat it. My crab legs were actually snow crab and very very salty and watery. This is not the way to cook any kind of crab legs. I would say the only decent tasting food were the hushpuppies and baked potatoes. The service was great. The waitress checked up on us very often making sure we had enough to drink, and she was very friendly. read more

I came here on a Friday dinner with my wife. We enjoy places like this, especially when we're craving our favorite fried clam strips. And after I found out that Captain's Galley in Matthews had closed, I was nervous that we wouldn't find a similar place near us. Then I was able to find this place online, and to say the least, we were not disappointed. The parking lot was packed. It's a casual family friendly atmosphere. And ofcourse, the food was delicious! Eveything was perfectly fried and tasted great (i.e. not greasy or damp with oil). The service was also friendly and responsive. But I would have to say their oyster stew was not what I expected, it was mostly a light milk and butter stew with just oysters and tasted watery with no flavor. I knew I should have ordered the clam chowder instead. They also had fried scallops which I thought were amazing. They were large sized and tender with a mild sweetness to them like they should be. I will definitely be going back as this will be our new fish camp joint. read more

We placed an order for takeout after a long day and just wanted to enjoy seafood in the comfort of our home. We ordered a large Grilled flounder dinner (whit side), sweet baked potato and salad along with a large perch and shrimp dinner. After we got the order home, we noticed that the order was not correct. My husband called back to explain to the take out manager that the order was incorrect, and we received a small size perch and shrimp dinner,, regular size grilled flounder dinner (not the white side), and no salad. He then instructed us to drive back to the restaurant (10 mins. away) so they could see what they did wrong before making it right. Well, I called back to ask to see if we could keep one of the orders and bring back the order which was completely wrong, and the take out manager told me that he had to have the entire order - Not what you want to hear when you are hungry. I asked if we would be compensated for the inconvenience, He then started to speak to me in a raging tone and said "well you are coming back anyway to bring the order to be corrected and if he gave away free food to every order they got wrong, everyone would be calling back". - Hum mm, what a statement! We were not asking for free food, just was going to settle for the small dinner order of the perch and shrimp (which was the incorrect size), oppose to what was ordered, a large perch and shrimp. We took the food back and got a refund - didn't trust them to reorder after we had returned the food. When the manager came to the car, he didn't even apologize for the wrong order or the inconvenience, just gave us the money and walked off - How Rude! I then called back to speak with the restaurant manager (I would have gone in if we had found a parking space), to voice my concern and elaborate on their staff's unprofessional customer service. I guess the manager I spoke with (Adam) had been informed of what happened and had already decided against what I had to say regarding our negative customer service experience tonight. However, he did regretfully apologize, but offered NO satisfaction to retain our business. They made it sound like it was our fault that they messed up. It's really the only seafood restaurant in town, so please make sure if you place an order to go, you better make sure your order is correct before you leave, because they will not compensate you at all for inconvenience and their screw ups! read more

We have eaten at this place many times with the quality of the food being fair to poor to terrible. Most of the time the food was poor, due to it being very VERY greasy. The fish is hardly ever fried crisp. The last time we ate there, the fish made us both sick on our stomachs. They also charge .75 extra for "green shrimp" and extra for broiled ($1.25) items. I do not recommend this place as their fish is usually very greasy and limp (soaking in grease.) read more

While the food here is good, I had an absolutely horrible experience here. We arrived, were seated and placed order in a fairly quick amount of time. Then began the problems. Two other tables who had arrived about the same time as us and ourselves were waiting approximately 30-45 minutes for our food. People that had arrived long after us received their food. We all asked a waitress who told us there was a large group in the back. Why then were people arriving later getting their food?then my daughter's food was incorrect and when brought back out was cold. At the register I asked for the manager. A man named Mr Angelo? Came out and as I told him I didn't think the waitress was to blame because she had the large group in the back, he argued and said it was her fault and that was for him to decide. I was stunned that he would talk to a customer this way then the cashier was rude too. I can truly say I will NEVER return there. I have never experienced such rudeness from a manager in my life. read more
