Worst dry cleaner I have ever used. Picked up two suits and eight shirts and it was $92, way more expensive than any other cleaner I have used. Got them home and almost all of the shirts were dirty around the collars and one of the suits had visible stains on the front. Pressing was terrible. Then when I took them back in, they didn't apologize or even act surprised. They treated me like I was trying to put one over on them and were very rude. Not the best way to treat your customers! Please learn from my experience. If Mayfair damages your belongings, this small business owner will not make it right. I purchased a 100% wool comforter during the holiday sales this year and my dog had an accident 24 hours after I started using it. I took the comforter to Mayfair and told the clerk that it was wool and needed to be dry-cleaned. When I got it back, it had shrunk 20 inches in length and 10 inches in width, and the texture of the blanket changed from smooth to knobby. The next day, my husband took the blanket, pictures of what it should look like, and the receipt showing that it was been purchased 2.5 weeks previously to Mayfair, asking that the owner reimburse the cost of the blanket at $150 and the cost of the cleaning at $23. The owner admitted that he had washed the blanket, not dry cleaned it, despite the tag stating dry clean only and my telling the clerk that it was wool and needed to be dry cleaned. The owner stated that if he had dry-cleaned it, we would have complained of it smelling like chemicals, so he had decided to wash it. The owner refused to reimburse the full $173, stating that the blanket had "depreciated" in value, despite the receipt proving the blanket had been purchased less than three weeks previously. Additionally, the blanket had only been used for 24 hours since I had forgotten to order a comforter cover and had waited for the cover to arrive before using it. The owner also refused to pay the full amount because he said there was fur on the blanket which he said nearly clogged his washing machine. Again, the blanket was used for 24 hours with a cover, and he had been asked to dry-clean it, not wash it. The owner begrudgingly agreed to reimburse $100, despite admitting to washing the blanket when I had asked for it be dry cleaned, which destroyed it. He did promptly send a check for $100. He was also exceedingly rude and unpleasant to deal with. I suggest in the strongest terms avoiding this business and I am disappointed to be treated so poorly by a small business owner in my community. I have included photos of my ticket for the dry cleaning (as I have noticed that the owner will reply to poor reviews by stating the review is fake), what the blanket looked like before I took it to Mayfair (from the website as I did not think I needed a pic before I took it to Mayfair), and what it looked like when I got it back. read more

Lit one star. Didn't take any responsibility on repairing a zipper. They won't do it so they asked a 3rd party to repair it take about a month for the process. Rejected to refund. Lied about paying full amount to the 3rd party who repaired the bag but when I asked the person who repaired the bag they didn't pay her the full amount and expecting her to give us the refund which has nothing to do with. Managers being a retard and screamed over the phone like a baby lol idk how those people even to manage to have a store front open lol read more

Mayfair is the very best. Frank is such a sweetheart; he even picked up my blouse from my work and brought it back the next day! I didn't even ask him to. The pen streak on the white fabric was completely gone as if it never existed. The edges of the sleeves and collar had begun to take on a yellow tinge and that had all disappeared as well. I can't wait to take to take in all of my wool coats, especially my white one, to have them ready for this coming cold season. They have earned a customer for life. :) read more

Ok So I was definitely boycotting this cleaners because they ruined some expensive curtains after the flood of 2010 and didn't stand by their work, in fact were rude. However last year (2015) they were bought by new owners and now have a great manager at the Lincoln store so my most recent post-flood of 2016 work has been done well. read more

Took a wedding dress to Hyvee Marshalltown, which sends items to Mayfair. Dress came back not clean at all, bill of $114 , which quote was $68. Told them only clean but then they also pressed so dirt is now stuck on. Sent it back to redo, they said that some dirt they can't get out, which would be fine, but let the customer know you can't do a job, instead of doing it poorly and charging extra. I had a different wedding dress done in Muscatine, with same dirt and it came out looking like new. Wish I would have taken the time to take the 2 hour trip to that cleaners. Will not be using this cleaners again. Wish HyVee would have stayed with Varsity Cleaners in Cedar Falls. read more

I was new to town and had quite a bit to clean. The clothes came back looking dull and damaged. The silk blouse was dulled and no longer a favorite of mine. The sweaters were folded and hung with a crease smack dab down the middle. Who does that? I do NOT recommend this cleaner. read more

Poor customer service. Looses your laundry, ruined a pair of UGH books that were a month old, looked like they were very old when got them back. Specifically asked for a shirt to be dry cleaned, and they pressed it instead ,result was beads fell off shirt. Unable to repair and I couldn't wear the vest and pants with anything else since the shirt went with it. Uses safety pins in your close to tag them, which causes pin holes in your shirts. I would think twice about ever using them. Miss the old owners who had customer service and didn't ruin your items. read more

Brought a pair of military uniform trousers in to get pressed, was disturbed to find that they were wrinkled and soiled upon getting them back. Brought them in to get fixed and I was told I was out of luck and would have to wait days to even get a refund. I really wanted to like this place. I brought in a down comforter to be dry cleaned and returned a week later to pick it up. The worker disappeared to the back for 10 minutes and returned to ask me what my comforter looked like. They brought out a comforter that wasn't mine and then disappeared again for another 5 minutes. Eventually they returned with my comforter and informed me that they had found it on the concrete floor in the back and that they would re-wash it for me. They offered me half off and seemed to be apologetic. While I appreciated the discount, I don't feel comfortable with how they store customers items and it worries me that they almost sent me home with someone else's comforter. I returned two days later for my comforter and was disappointed in the quality of the dry cleaning. My comforter still felt damp when I removed it from the bag and it isn't nearly as fluffy as it has been after previous dry cleanings. Overall, the management seemed nice and apologetic but I don't think I would return read more
