    Blanket after it was washed
    Shannon L.

Please learn from my experience. If Mayfair damages your belongings, this small business owner will not make it right. I purchased a 100% wool comforter during the holiday sales this year and my dog had an accident 24 hours after I started using it. I took the comforter to Mayfair and told the clerk that it was wool and needed to be dry-cleaned. When I got it back, it had shrunk 20 inches in length and 10 inches in width, and the texture of the blanket changed from smooth to knobby. The next day, my husband took the blanket, pictures of what it should look like, and the receipt showing that it was been purchased 2.5 weeks previously to Mayfair, asking that the owner reimburse the cost of the blanket at $150 and the cost of the cleaning at $23. The owner admitted that he had washed the blanket, not dry cleaned it, despite the tag stating dry clean only and my telling the clerk that it was wool and needed to be dry cleaned. The owner stated that if he had dry-cleaned it, we would have complained of it smelling like chemicals, so he had decided to wash it. The owner refused to reimburse the full $173, stating that the blanket had "depreciated" in value, despite the receipt proving the blanket had been purchased less than three weeks previously. Additionally, the blanket had only been used for 24 hours since I had forgotten to order a comforter cover and had waited for the cover to arrive before using it. The owner also refused to pay the full amount because he said there was fur on the blanket which he said nearly clogged his washing machine. Again, the blanket was used for 24 hours with a cover, and he had been asked to dry-clean it, not wash it. The owner begrudgingly agreed to reimburse $100, despite admitting to washing the blanket when I had asked for it be dry cleaned, which destroyed it. He did promptly send a check for $100. He was also exceedingly rude and unpleasant to deal with. I suggest in the strongest terms avoiding this business and I am disappointed to be treated so poorly by a small business owner in my community. I have included photos of my ticket for the dry cleaning (as I have noticed that the owner will reply to poor reviews by stating the review is fake), what the blanket looked like before I took it to Mayfair (from the website as I did not think I needed a pic before I took it to Mayfair), and what it looked like when I got it back.

The pen ink is all gone and the yellow edges are now a crisp, pure white.

They were smoke and soot damaged. I called Kasperbaur Cleaners and asked if it was possible to clean them to get the soot and smoke smell out. They said yeah it wouldn't be a problem and they charge $4 per pound. I brought in my 8 cardigans and they then called me and told me it would be about $14 per item. I said okay because they mean a lot to me. I dropped them off and I had to contact them a week later to see if they were ready for pickup. The owner, Michael told me they'd be ready the next day. I came in and immediately smelled the smoke still. I left them there and didn't examine them. The employee working also stated that they still smelled of smoke. Michael told me to come back in and decide which ones should be sent back. I went in today to look over them thoroughly and noticed heavy pilling and loose threads. These sweaters were nowhere near any flames and only had black soot on them. Michael immediately started yelling telling me I was wasting his time and he knew I'd be a problem even though I'd been nothing but calm and polite the entire process. He told me I needed to pay the entire amount regardless of anything. I called the police and they took pictures of the damage and recommended that I take them to civil court. Do NOT bring items you actually care about here. Michael was insistent that they were in perfect condition before I came. They still have black smoke damage and are even further damaged.

Since then, I have not trusted a dry cleaner and didn't buy anything that required dry cleaning. Due to work requirements, I needed to get some nice clothes. And then, the time came...my suit jacket was getting a little smelly and I knew I had to find a dry cleaner. After checking on social media and getting suggestions from friends who had used this particular business, I landed here. I was greeted immediately upon walking inside, the young lady was very pleasant and answered my questions and assured me they look at tags before cleaning. I was able to track my order on my phone, and pickup was just as smooth and friendly as drop off - the next day. I will return here very soon, as another one of my suits will need freshened up in short order. The price is average for Des Moines, I paid $20 for a jacket and slacks. Service, quality, affordability. Give them a try, or a second chance!

LOST WEDDING DRESS AND RECEIVED SOMEONE ELSE'S! I cannot…read morerecommend Executive Cleaners OR Victoria Cleaners after the experience I had with them. What should have been a simple process of cleaning and preserving my wedding dress and veil turned into six months of repeated mistakes, delays, and unnecessary stress. Background: Executive Cleaners is owned by Victoria Cleaners. There was no manager at Executive for me to work with, so I was repeatedly sent to this Victoria location. February 2026: I dropped off my wedding dress and veil to be cleaned and preserved after my wedding at Executive Cleaners. March 2026: I picked up the preserved dress for the first time, only to discover that the inventory sheet did not list a veil in the box. The manager at Victoria Cleaners went back and forth with me for an entire week about whether the veil was actually inside. I was eventually asked to bring the box back so they could break the seal and check. There was no veil. I was told the dress and veil would be sent back to be properly preserved. June/July 2026: I received a message that my dress was ready again. I went to pick it up at Executive and was told there was actually nothing there. Since I was moving at the end of July, I made it very clear that I needed my dress back before then. Near the end of July, I finally received another call saying my dress was ready. When I arrived, the inventory sheet still did not list my veil. Victoria Cleaners contacted the preservation facility, which insisted that no veil had ever been sent. I was then told to open the sealed box myself because the veil was probably inside and simply hadn't been documented on the inventory sheet. When I opened the box, there was no veil. And then I discovered something even worse: THE DRESS INSIDE THE BOX WAS NOT EVEN MY WEDDING DRESS. I had been given someone else's wedding dress. I would have never known this if I hadn't broken the seal and physically removed the dress from the box to see and feel it. At that point, the manager was unable to locate my dress and had to involve the owner of Victorias and Executive. Update as of August 2026: After all of this, the manager finally located my dress and mailed it back to me. I finally have my own wedding dress back! After six months, countless phone calls, multiple mistakes, delays, and an incredible amount of stress, I finally have my own wedding dress back. I also still have not received the reimbursement check for the preservation that I was promised back in March after the dress was incorrectly preserved the first time. My wedding dress is incredibly sentimental to me, and having to repeatedly worry about whether it was lost, improperly handled, or potentially given to someone else was an experience I would never wish on another bride. Save yourself the headache, stress, and hassle. I strongly recommend using another company for something this important.
