Awful, she wouldn't stop talking (and about really personal issues!) through the entire manicure. My pedicure was awful it looked like a 3rd grader painted my nails, when I pointed it out and asked her (very politely) to correct it, she got upset. My polish peeled off 2 days later, I called to complain she said she would be happy to fix it, yet she couldn't find a time in her "busy" schedule to accommodate me. First off she Maria was very nice to fit me in one day without an appointment; she did a great job and was very thorough with her cleanliness. She did not how ever apply polish all the way to the cuticle so my nails looked like they had grown out right after having them done. I absolutely LOVE Maya's shellac manicures. She's the best of the best at shaping my nails and I love the products she uses--CND shellac in particular. Maya is wonderful. I abuse my hands - cook a lot - spend hours in the water and kayak - so my hands and nails suffer from the moisture and abuse. Maya fixes my nails and cleans up my hands better than any salon or spa ever has. I love that it is a quiet space with just one customer at a time. Woohoo! As good as it gets! If you are ANYWHERE drive-able to San Rafael, you just gotta get a gel shellac manicure from Maya! It does NOT hurt your nails, and does it give you some idea that I am typing this (after opening my car door, turning my car key, and now on the keyboard) about 10 minutes after the manicure was done. Have you had one of those manicures where you go to bed, like hours AFTER having your nails done, and you wake up with sheet creases? NO MORE. Today was my first visit, and it will definitely not be my last! Maya was super friendly and very knowledgeable. The shellac manicure was great, it's dry right away, so you don't have to worry about smudging. Best of all if you decide you want a different color for a night or two you can throw on a color of regular polish and use remover to take it off without effecting the shellac polish at all. I'm a regular here and tried the gel shellac nail color on my last visit. WOW. This stuff is amazing. Also bullet proof (not really, but you get my drift). As I write this, it's been 2 weeks since I had the manicure and it's still going strong (even after doing dishes, banging my hands in doors along with the rest of the abuse I subject my poor hands to). This manicure is still shiny and not dull (regular manicures I've noticed lose their shine after a couple weeks). No chips either. Other than the growth (as with an acrylic nail) - it looks brand new. On the plus side, this doesn't damage the nail as acrylics do - so you're getting the same benefits minus the damage with this shellac business. Plus, after leaving the salon it's completely dry - I can go back to work afterwards and not baby my hands - attempting to shield them from the inevitable dents during the drying time). I had my first appointment with Maya the other day and let me tell you, she does beautiful work. I had a pedi and had her clean up the cuticles on my hands. Her Salon is quiet, doesn't reek of chemicals and you get total one on one care. I have an ingrown toenail and she made it look great. The pedi is so perfect my husband noticed it!
