I came here for the first time to treat my mom and left very disappointed. I was assigned a younger technician with tattoos on her arms who repeatedly yanked my hands throughout my appointment. When I checked out, another staff member directly asked me how much I was going to tip--something I've never experienced at any salon, or any place of business for that matter. After such a non-relaxing service, it left a terrible impression and definitely sealed the deal on me never coming back. Two weeks later, my regular nail salon discovered a fungal infection under one of my nails, which I've never had before despite years of getting my nails done at various salons in the area. Between the serious hygiene concerns and the overall experience, this was by far the worst salon experience I've ever had. I will never be returning. read more

This place is ridiculous. I was charged $70 for the shortest, most lumpy, cockeyed nails I've ever gotten in my life. The attendant spent the entire time on the phone. Polish is uneven, she burned my nail bed with the drill, and they all feel like they're going to pop off. I'm hard of hearing and when I asked for my money back the lady pretended she couldn't understand me when we'd been talking the entire time. This is my favorite place for mani pedi appointments! The staff treat you like family. Complimentary bottled water is provided. Wait time, if any, is minimal. A variety of services are offered. Today I had a pedi and then an eyebrow wax. Prices are so reasonable. You're even given a nice gift each Christmas. The salon is decorated for every holiday and is super clean. read more

First time at May Nails, the business owner is a woman and she was very friendly. I was able to walk in just after 5pm on a Friday for a full set of dip powder nails and got seated immediately. May has a decent color selection, but it's about 1/3rd of the range of the salon I usually go to. May makes up for that by being about $5 cheaper on average for services before tip. My tech took his time and did an amazing job. Taking off my old dip and putting on the new powder took 1hr 45min. He did 3 layers of color powder and 3 layers of topcoat (I asked for the third topcoat because I work with my hands). He also cleaned up my dry winter cuticles on request. The shop has a nice complimentary wine selection and the shop was quiet and clean. read more

This place has 1 Star and I'm not sure why because I didn't have a bad experience whatsoever. I came for a pedicure and was impressed with the customer service and speediness of my nail technician. The price for the "Quicki Pedicure" was $27 and included hot stone massage, warm towel compress, massage, all the pedicure essentials and a polish. They have a loftier option for $37 that gives you the choice of scented scrubs as well as a longer massage. When I sat down, I was given water and candy. They have complimentary wine but I chose not to indulge. It's neat because they have an entire wine bar which is a neat addition to any nail salon. The salon is very quiet (which I appreciate). I was in and out about 30 mins after sitting down. I wouldn't say my experience blew my mind or anything like that but it was a good experience. I think this place deserves at least 3 stars! read more

One star because I cant give negative stars.. I went here instead of my normal shop, so I could find a back up shop and it was a big mistake. I walked out halfway through the services because they spilt monomer all over my new birkenstocks and ruined them. I know it was an accident, but I had two people that worked there arguing with me that nothing got on them. I could smell it on my ruined birks, naturally I am upset because they are not cheap shoes. The accident happened because I was having my nails filled in the pedicure chair, which was strange to me because there were chairs open. I walked out with half a pedicure and half my nails filled and paid for incomplete services. I probably would have let them finished had they not argued with me. I will usually give a place a second chance, due to the whole bizarre experience at May nails I wont be going back. After shelling out money for unfinished service and having to pay my usually shop to fix it and my ruined birks May Nails has cost me more then I'd ever be willing to spend there. read more

I used to go to May Nails years ago when I still wore acrylic nails, and occasionally I'd get a pedicure. I had always loved their customer service and color selection so I went back last night for some me-time to get a pedicure. I could not have been more pleased! I was seated immediately (5:30 pm walk-in) and was offered their complimentary fruit/snacks/drinks by my tech. I had a 'sugar-scrub pedicure' and it was delightful. The chairs for pedicures have a remote for massage features which I LOVE, and I was able to read my book and enjoy myself. May Nails is extremely sanitary, which is one of the reasons I will always go back! They open fresh tools for each customer, and the pedicure bowls are lined with fresh plastic before each service. read more

I decided to do a walk-in mani/pedi service on a Sunday. I was immediately greeted by a tech who was providing a pedicure to one of the other ladies. After telling her that I wanted a gel mani/pedi I was taken to a chair where I picked my colors and started soaking my feet. I was happy to see pedicure liners and individually wrapped utensils, but I was kind of disappointed in the previously used files. Everything was pretty normal until the actual pedicure started. The technician was very friendly, but she was a lot more rough than what I'm used to. My cuticle was cut to the point of bleeding, and I could feel that a few of my nails were cut too low because they felt raw. On top of that, my nails were not cut/shaped evenly. After I left I re-examined the pedicure and I could see glitter all over my toes and some spots on my actual nail were missing polish entirely. I also got a basic gel manicure, which came out really nicely. The hot stone and the massaging were great, and there were lots of colors to choose from, I just would have liked to see more caution with shaping and filing. A dear friend comes here quite often for pedicures so when her birthday was around the corner, several of us purchased gift certificates for her. What a disappointment to learn that they will no longer allow her to use the remaining certificates after one year has passed, in spite of the fact that no expiration date appears anywhere on them. Not a particularly gracious way to treat a regular customer. I used to accompany my friend here on occasion, in spite of the fact that my favorite salon is elsewhere. When a business offers a product/service that's readily available from many similar competitors, the only way one can differentiate ones business is through customer service. I am checking out new nail spots in my area and this shop is going to be a no for me. My pedicure was the WORST. I feel like I never went in. I could have went in for a toe polish change and just paid for that because honestly my feet feel no better. The young guy that did them talked more than anything. Also got a full set and it is mediocre. The tech Kelly rushed my nails not duly getting ye length I wanted, rushed the drying process and none of them are personable. The speaker caught fire while in there as well. You think they removed the speaker!? No. This place is beyond horrible unless you like mediocre work. read more

This place is a nice place to visit. However, they don't really have social skills such as polite speech, they usually speak out loud their language front of me that make me not relaxed while the pedicure. Hopefully, they will change this problems. I really respect their culture, but they have to change to adapt American culture. I'll give them 4 stars next time if they change it. read more

I called to make an appointment as Covid 19 now requires. I made it for my bday 5/21/20, to give me something to do as a celebration. I arrived only to be told that I didn't have an appointment. After she looked over her books she realizes that she wrote it down on 5/22/20 instead. That totally ruined my bday plans. On 5/22/20 I arrive to the appointment to find out that their credit card machine was not working, when it came time to pay. Fine time tell me. The services I received were subpar, a gel manicure and a polish change on my toes. The original polish on my toes was not fully removed before the new polish was applied. I had to remove old polish from my skin when I got home. I didn't receive a hand massage with my manicure as you would the other nail shops I frequent. That happens to be my favorite part. In the past I have had it done here also. Seems like they were cutting corners. There were signs stating, water and wine are complimentary. I nor my daughter who I brought with me to get the same services were not offered any. We waited 40 mins to be serviced(with an appointment). In total we were there 3 hours for two gel manicures and two toe polish changes. Our total was $80. $28 each for the manicures and $12 each to polish our toes. I don't know if their trying to recovery money they lost during the closure but $12 to polish toes and do it half ass is excessive. All and all I've had better service elsewhere. This place will be a last resort if I ever have to return again. read more

I gave them 2 chances. I won't be back. I walked in for a full set of acrylics the first time and while the service was fast the man cut me repeatedly and the nails were not the best. My nails actually ached for about 24 hours after. I decided to give them a second chance and returned a few weeks later when my nails needed a fill. I walked in and was ignored for about 5 minutes before anyone looked up from their cell phone to help me. When I did finally get someone to help it was a different manicurist who seemed visibly upset at the quality of the nails the other man did. While she did a good job and my nails are pretty she cut my cuticle as well. So based on the poor customer service and the inconsistent quality I'll be choosing another salon in the future. read more

I had a manicure, pedicure and eyebrow waxing all done 2 days ago after work. I chose OPI polish and it seemed the nail technician knew what she was doing. She painted my natural nails and it seemed like she put it on too thick or did not allow enough time to try between coats. When I was getting ready to leave around 7:00pm, I asked if they were dry and was told yes. I picked up my purse and 2 of the nails on my right hand smudged. It was immediately repaired. I left the shop and got in my car to go home. The index finger on my left hand smudged when unfastening my seat belt. I went back before they closed to get it repaired. After not using my hands for several hours, I washed & dried my hands and they all had the marks from The towel on them! Polish should not take that long to dry!! I don't have time to go back because I'm going out of town. I won't go back to May Nails!! read more

Went to May nails for the first time yesterday and had a wonderful experience. I wanted an afternoon appointment so I called in the morning and was able to get an appointment for myself and my mom( we wanted some girl time). We walked in, chose our color, and while waiting for a nail tech to finish they got us started on a foot soak. My mom and I both got the Chocolate Pedicure, it was amazing!! I highly recommend it. Their website explains what it includes as well as what's included in all of their other services. They have free complementary drinks like, wine, soda, and water. They also offer fruit to snack on. My nail tech did an amazing job, she was very kind and the atmosphere was relaxing. I did have one problem on my visit, because they pre-wash the fruit my fruit had mold on it. So I didn't eat it. But honestly this isn't bother me because it was free and I wasn't paying extra for it. All of their tools are sanitized and the foot baths have liners. Definitely will be returning. read more

I have been a loyal customer there for almost 2 years. I recently went there in May for an acrylic overlay fill-in and a pedicure. I had become very fond of brian who is a nail technician there. A day later after receiving my service I noticed my natural nail had started to separate from the acrylic. I called the salon and spoke with Michelle who is the manager/ nail technician. I explained to her that I was not upset because I knew things l I'm e this happens with overlays. She said I could come back and have my nail fixed. However I did not go instead I waited until it was time for a new full-set and pedicure. Last Friday 6/7/2019 I called for an with Brian, Michelle said he was booked. I asked her when would he be available. She said for me to call back Monday which was the 10th. When I called I was told Michelle is in the bathroom and would call me back. I never got the call. I called again on Tuesday the 11th and was told brian was booked. Today which is 6/14/19 I called and spoke with Michelle again. She told me the owner of the salon said they couldn't accept appointments because the salon is short a technician and that I would have to come in as a walk-in. I said that's fine with me as long as Brianis able to do my nails and pedicure. I traveled from Chesterfield, va to glen Allen, va to be serviced. Upon arrival I was informed by Michelle that it would be at least an hour and a half before brian could see me. I said that's fine I will wait on him. She attempted get me to allow someone else to perform the services I requested and I politely declined. I waited an hour in my car. Once I went back into the salon Michelle walked up to me to tell me brian wasn't happy because I called to say my nail separated from the acrylic. She said the owner spoke to Brian about it and he was upset. At that point I was irritated because I had been calling for one week and this was never brought to my attention. Michelle had multiple opportunities to tell me he no longer wanted to be my nail technician. Instead she wasted my time and led me to believe he would do my nails. I ended up waiting over an hour only to be told he didn't wahto do my pedicure or my nails. This was not good customer service. No one is perfect. This shop made me feel like as a customer I couldn't voice my opinion regarding services rendered to me. It sucks because I really liked this place and now I have to find a new salon. read more
