I purchased a couple 175hp engines and they did a nice install, however I had issues with the communication to my gauges most importantly no fuel gauge In the beginning, they seemed to try to assist me at 1st and then they threw me under the bus from then on when they could not help me correct the issues. Also, they left a battery cable loose, which fried my master raymarine display because of poor connections. I found this out because I thought I had dead batteries when I brought the boat home. The display was not working properly. Which always worked. Also my radio said low battery voltage. I then purchased two batteries as soon as I brought the boat home because the engines were hard to start when I realize one of the cables was extremely loosely connected when i went to install the batteries. Not even tightened down at all. I end up having to buy a new master display because of the spike voltages from the cable connections being loose and also bought 2 new batteries. I was stuck with them too since I did not return them because they were to hard to remove. Another thing that happened was I had a broken brake line on my trailer that was brought to my attention from them. This was caused by someone else who just installed new brakes. I Drove 500 miles to have them install the engines and you would think they would offer to take care of my brakes, but that did not get done even though I asked them to fix it and would pay them. I had to drive all the way back home without brakes on my trailer through the mountains. They didn't have time for fixing it. Fortunately, I am very knowledgeable electrically and mechanically so during the winter I was able to correct the issues on my own by doing a lot of research. It cost me about $1250 extra to get it right but now. I'm very happy with the way my boat is set up. They do not return calls should you have any minor questions. Just my 2 cents. read more

I purchased 2 Suzuki engines for the boat. They said 6 months they would be there but after I put my downpayment & 1 year later they finally showed up. I was shocked as I thought they sold them to someone else for a better price. I was wrong. No calls or updates to the status of your engines at all. Engine install was great and I was impressed with the engines and the install. Nice job! The price was right too! They were all very friendly there and it seemed like a good fit when I was there for the install. After the install none of the gauges would give proper info. Since I was out of the area, they would not respond to any questions regarding anything that you asked about. In the beginning they would answer some questions then goodby for you. You are a forgotten customer as soon as you leave their property. I ended up having to pay lots of $$$ for the things that were not working to get operational because of their lack of customer service. If they would just answer any minor question that would get me on the right track to work on it myself would have been greatly appreciated. The typ. response is I will have LLoyd call you. If you should ever here that response, then that is the kiss of death. you will then never hear from anyone for sure. If you are smart consider Suzuki's, great engines, nice product but find someone else to buy them from especially if you are not handy, Also, I have four different friends that wanted to repower. They wanted to go with them until they found out what I had to deal with. They, Maxxum have lost lots of $$$$ in opportunities. Also, Suzuki does not work with you have any questions calling or emailing them, They recommend you deal with the company that you purchased your engines from. They will not answer any questions. So, when you call Maxxum you are thrown under the bus because they sure will not answer your questions or deal with your problems. So, i am not sure how to deal with a problem with an engine issue questioning the 5 year warranty since Suzuki will not respond to you either. Fortunately, my engines and the new electronic system is running perfect for now and i am finally a happy camper. Good Luck! read more

these guys are clowns...they had my boat to change the impellers...took 3 months and they did a very poor job.. the water ports where not cleaned and both engines plugged up when i fired them up...i had to dig debris out of both discharge holes.. they said they fill tasted them...that's BS. they did not reinstall the water intake screen on one engine....i found the screen laying in the gunnel when i got home...So glad it did not blow out.. would be so easy to blow an engine by sucking in debris..i would never let these clowns touch anything you value.. they are not professional...run forest run... read more

I need it to repower my boat and I did some homework . I call Maxxum marine and we put an order for 175 Suzuki outboard . I drove from Napa county California . I got there on Thursday 1.00 pm and by Friday 11.00 am was done . I got treated the best . job was done super fast . I ask for some extra stuff and was done with no extra cost for me . This store knows how to take care costumer and all the operation was a five stars from the beginning to the end . My only experience with Maxxum Marine was this. I responded by phone to there add for a used boat on Boat Trader Friday February 14, to let them know I was interested in the boat and that i could be there Wednesday afternoon the 19th to look at it. I phoned again on Monday morning to reconfirm and to let them know that i was a serious cash buyer, I made sure they had my name and phone number. I then Emailed them on Tuesday afternoon to reconfirm my appointment and let them know again in writing that I was a cash buyer and that my intention was, assuming the boat looked good, to purchase it and pick it up on Friday the 21st. When I arrived at Maxxum Marine at the appointed time on Wednesday, after my 2hr drive from Hillsboro, I was told by the sales manager, Micah, the same person i had been in contact with, that 2 hours prior, while I was in rout, he had accepted a sight unseen over the phone deposit on the boat from another individual and that they would not accept my full cash payment for the boat. I protested and was told that they were sorry and that if in a week, when the other purchaser was able to come look at the boat, if he did not take it they would contact me. I was crushed. The next morning, I phoned and spoke with one of the owners of Maxxum Marine who told me he was sorry but that was the way it was. They might have suggested in one of my 3 conversations about my seriousness to purchase that I my self may want to give them an over the phone deposit to prevent them from selling it out from under me, as I thought that I was dealing with a reputable dealership with whom I had made an appointment this had not occurred to me. At what point were they going to phone me to let me know, don't bother coming, we have sold the boat out from under you. It seems to me that when someone is on there way after several confirmations to purchase an item and another person phones on the same item, the second person should be told that, someone is on there way to look at it now, if they do not purchase it, we will be happy to take your deposit and hold it for you. From now on, I'll stick to dealing with Craigslist folks for a higher level of courtesy and integrity. read more

Do not take your boat here for any kind of service beyond a motor oil change - it appears they can do that well, though I have no proof. Three specific issues have caused me to drop my review from 5 stars (based upon an outboard motor purchase) to one star: 1. We took our 14' aluminum boat to them because we can a slow leak somewhere that was getting worse and asked them to look into it. According to them, they filled the boat with water and could not see any leaking water - so job done. We got the boat back and water was still accumulating in the bilge. Long story short - got down on ground and looked at the underside myself and there was a starburst crack at one of the rivets... I can only assume they didn't even bother with a visual inspection, though they sure charged us for the other. 2. We bought an outboard motor from them less than 2 years ago. We took it to them for routine maintenance at 1 year. At 1.5 years we took it back to them because the motor that new got up to 18 mph was barely making 6. According to their "computer diagnostic" everything was just fine... so it was returned to us, now getting barely 3 mph with the current. When questioned about the situation they were defensive and insisted they had done quality work and (not believing us?) said the only thing they could do was (let us pay them) to take out our boat and motor and then put a similar motor on and take it out to verify the lack of power. At the least, I'm pretty sure they should have been knowledgeable enough to notice something amiss in the tank if a 20 horse it working at 1/3 normal power. Longer story short - took it to a more reputable boat mechanic and discovered that Maxxum told us the wrong type of fuel to use... and so over a year and a half of pretty heavy use the seals throughout had been compromised. 3. When I called Maxxum to get a copy of the work done (yes... we lost ours) - I was told the only guy that had access to the computer with that info was out of town for a week or so, though he did remember our boat and was pretty sure all they had done with the engine was an oil change. When the guy did finally get back... he had no record of our boat being worked on. Hunh... $536 dollars... no record... for an oil change and a water test that could have been avoided with a visual inspection. read more

I tried to buy parts for my Suzuki outboard here. Came in on a Saturday and was told there was no parts guy available and to come back Monday. I called in Monday and was told the parts guy was not available but if I give them my contact information they will call and order the part I need, I had a part number just needed to order it. No call back. Waited for Tuesday. Waited Wednesday. No call back. Called on Thursday and talked to someone who had no idea what he was doing. Kept putting me on hold. Comes back and says he has to order the part and it's a week away. I asked if I could pay for expedited shipping and he put me on hold for. He came back and said no I can't get it here quicker because it's on the east coast. Then I heard someone start talking about shipping costs in the back ground and the guy I was talking to tried to repeat back what he was told but he didn't have a clue what he was saying. I wanted to order the part locally but was unable to. Ordered it from some online website. I paid about the same as if I would have had Maxxum order it but I will have it tomorrow. Unfortunate how difficult it is to spend money locally. read more

We live in Arizona and drove to Eugene to buy our boat from Maxxum Marine. We worked with Joshua. He went far and above to work with us. When we saw the boat online we contacted Joshua to ask questions. Not only did he answer our questions, he took videos of the entire boat. He pointed out things that were a plus but also pointed out scratches and other imperfections. Very honest. We put a refundable deposit on the boat so that it was locked in until we could check it out ourselves. Joshua communicated with us every day and was just as helpful when we got there. He actually took it out on the lake during a cold, windy day to check out the boat and become familiar with it so that he could demo everything and show us how to use the controls. He explained how to store and take care of motors, bimini and boat cover. Joshua stayed after hours going over everything with us. They kept the boat overnight for us to keep it safe because we stayed in a hotel that night. When we picked it up the next morning Micah had installed a transom motor support for free on the big motor. We bought additional items from them as well such as a motor lock for the kicker motor. Our experience was above and beyond our expectations. We would highly recommend them even if you are out of state. read more

I took my new northriver seahawk with Honda motors in for an oil change. The pricing seemed fair as it was better that most around. However it was cheaper for a reason. They put aftermarket filters on the motors and after doing some research, Honda wont cover warranty concerns if aftermarket filters are used. To make the situation even worse, they did not cycle the oil through the filters which is common sense to do before you release the boat back to the owner. The only reason I found this out is because I got my boat winterized and the filters are bone dry. So I had to pay for another oil change and then the winterization. You would think when you pay someone over $300 to do work on your boat it would be done properly. I feel cheated out of my money as I have the new filters they used sitting in my truck having never been used and the workmanship was done terribly. I will never use this maxxum marine again and will make sure all my boating friends do the same. Buyers beware!!! read more

My husband and I will NEVER take our boat back to Maxxum Marine again. They are so unprofessional. We dropped our boat off to be winterized on Thursday of last week. They said they would get to it as soon as possible because the weather was going to get bad (below freezing). The guy I talked to when I dropped it off said, "Don't worry, we'll store your boat inside if we don't get to it". When my husband went to pick it up this morning after a late call last night that it was finally done, it was parked outside in the weather. The cover had blown off of it and there was water and ice all over the boat. Mind you, this is a 25 ft. Malibu Wakesetter. If anyone knows about boats, this is not a cheap one and we keep it store under cover. My husband was not happy with the service and said so to one of the workers who went inside to talk to the manager. He then came out and told my husband that he should take his business somewhere else!!! What a jerk! We are very disappointed in their service and now we'll be finding someone else to take care of our boat. Shame on them! If I could, I would give them 0 stars. read more
