I was in town for work and had to return a watch that did not work that I purchased from a…read moredifferent Belk store so thought it would be easy to take care of this errand while in town. I walked in and......crickets........it was like a ghost town. There was music playing overhead and the lights were on, doors unlocked, so it has to be open, right?? I walked around for about 5 minutes, clearing my throat, saying "hello?" in all the departments...and this is a small store so it wasn't that difficult. FINALLY a lady came out from the back in the shoe department and I asked her if she could help me with a return in jewelry. She said yes but then kept looking over and around for someone in jewelry. I told her it was like Night of the Comet, there is no one anywhere. She didn't think it was funny. I handed her the receipt and she snapped, "where is the receipt?" Yikes! She then started telling me she didn't see the barcode so I started sweating it until thankfully, it was on the bottom of the watch box. Now, normally, I take full advantage of a return by buying something else. 1. The watching was a Betsy Johnson watch and the lady in shoes didn't know who Betsy Johnson was. They did not have any Betsy Johnston in jewelry nor anything I would want in it's place. I guess all Belk stores are VERY different. 2. I was sort of afraid to continue going through the store as desserted as it was to stroll and see if there was something else I wanted to buy. It takes a lot to get me to not shop...just sayin. 3. The lady that took my return was probably the one who would check me out and honestly, I didn't have time to find her again, nor sweat whether or not I was going to be allowed to make a purchase. Come on Roanoke Rapids Belk....get it together. You don't have a lot of shopping options. It's a shame that someone can't feel comfy in Belk.

Their prices are very reasonable and the staff are very friendly. I bring my large lab/shepherd mix in on occasion and he is well received. The cashiers will give your pup a dog treat while checking out, a sweet touch. I also have a guinea pig and I strictly buy my food and bedding from Tractor Supply. The prices are not far off from other large stores and the customer service is much better. Parking is always plentiful. The staff are very knowledgeable about what is where and willing to immediately help you reach items on the highest shelf. Their 4Health brand dog food seems to do much better with my large breed puppy than the ProPlan I was spending 2x the amount on. His fur is shiny, thick and the food keeps well in containers. My son loves coming here to walk around and look at the Tractors when we are buying his puppy and pig supplies. We are looking into buying a riding mower from Tractor Supply despite the higher prices because of their awesome customer service and variety of items.

The store features mostly clothes for men and women and they sell brands like Tommy Bahama, Olukai, Sperry and Vera Bradley. In addition to beachy clothes and resort ware they have some shoes, handbags and accessories for adults. They also have some items for children like stuffed toys, books and such. Aside from nicer name-brand clothing, they also have some Outer Banks gear. They definitely have a higher quality selection of tshirts, sweatshirts and fleece jackets than any other store. Other items they carry include cards, puzzles and I think even taffy. The store is clean and well organized but a bit picked over in October, as should be expected.

It's not a very organized store. I was able to get my bathing suit for 50% off which was very nice. I am very happy with my hot pink bathing suit I purchased. The lady at the customer service station was very nice and friendly. If you're looking for a good discount on a bathing suit, you should check this store out before they are all gone.

I went to parrots bay and framers daughter earlier in the week (which btw are the same place, like they sell thee EXACT same thing and I mean everything is the same) but I digress; they put a white sizing sticker on EVERYTHING!!! hated it and didn't buy anything because it grossed me out. While Grays did have size stickers on some of their shirts I'd say probably about 50% or more didn't have a sticker. Therefore, I absolutely loved this store! And ended up spending way too much money in there Lastly, I believe it's locally owned! 10 out of 10 loved this store.

Last June, on our anniversary, my hubby and I slipped down to the beach and stopped in, it's been over 50 years now. We bought six items of clothing, and I'm super pleased with all of them. The sweats for me (lovely willow color with a zippered crop top) look great on me, they're soft and wash well. I've worn the black cropped knit sweater many times, it really dresses me up. The hubster got three sweat shirts, and they all fit REALLY well. Not too snug, not too baggy. They look good, feel good, and wash well. We've planned a little day trip to the coast to add more of these quality clothes to our wardrobe.

It gets busy, and worst times to visit this place are anytime in the early evening, the weekends all together (especially Sunday....oh don't even get me started on what its like here on Sundays), and pretty much when school gets let out each day. Early mornings and later at night the place is peachy keen for all of you who would enjoy a nice stroll down an open aisle. Other then that, you're going to wade through lines of people in every aisle, and wonder why you even came into this place to begin with. As an interesting side note, since there is very little to do for the teens around here (no mall, no movie theater, ect) they have made Friday and Saturday nights at Walmart their official hang out spot to meetup, talk, and look for dates which clearly appears to be the case from when I've come accidentally during these times and days! This isn't the worst Walmart I have ever been to, but don't expect them to care much if you have any issues...I mean they will eventually help you with your issue when they get around to it...and well, that's better than nothing I suppose. Like I said, leave all your expectations at the door and you will have a fine enough shopping trip here! One thing that they do have that their Main Street Suffolk location does not is a tire center. That has helped us on a number of occasions when we needed to quickly hop by for a tire change, or in need of a trailer tire for my husbands work trailer.
