I know, I know...for many this is a favorite spot, I get it. So whay am I a hater? Hang in there I will get to it ASAP. Went with some celebrities from NYC and LA (They had a great time), it was their idea to go here. I had always heard great things about the place. I am a huge fan of chic restaurants and really enjoyed the vibe in the place so I was excited to try the food. The food tasted, OK nothing to write home about...so why one star? I have always loved Tuna, until that fateful experience that changed everything. I got deathly ill from the Tuna from Trumbull. I called the health department. I was that sick, it was that bad. Words will not convey just how much pain I was in for 2 days. The third day I was so tired from the prior 2, I slept 20 hours. I am not one to get sick easy so my suggestion. Have drinks here, dine elsewhere. Service was fine. It was the food related issues I just cannot get past. read more

Food is amazing. As long as you don't get Mike as a server. He is out right rude. Curt and obnoxious. He makes you feel like your intruding being sat in his section. Don't ask for bread you won't get it. At least not from him. The other staff pick up his slack and brought us bread. My friend asked for lemons. He slammed them on the table and said lemons. It took over an hour to get our lunch. Thank goodness he didn't deliver because the other staff were polite and on point. The restaurant really should rethink keeping this staff or at least place him in the appropriate position. The kitchen is best. Keep him away so his rude abrupt attitude doesn't scare away customers. We love the food. So we will go back. Just pray Mike moves on. We will definitely request not his section. read more

They had a lovely and cozy atmosphere with a live band. On a Saturday night that made the experience just right. The food and dessert had the perfect mixture of spices. Upscale with lots of lovely decor. read more

Excellent all around, another job well done by the MAX Group. Trumbull Kitchen is right in downtown Hartford, an area I don't often visit. My girlfriend and I found ourselves there for a dinner on a quiet Monday night. We were offered a big booth near the back of the restaurant, which is very modern and classy. Our server timed everything perfectly, from our drinks to our bill, and was very knowledgable about the menu, and offered lots of suggestions. The best part of the evening was finding a couple of handsome young men to join us for drinks. An absolute must for when you are in Hartford. read more

TK is my go to place when I want a night out with the girls. We dress up in our best and prepare for an evening of innocent fun. The atmosphere here is lively and the kitchen produces amazing creations. What more can a girl ask for? Seconds? Oh yes more crab cakes please. Wait: Depending on the night the wait can be long. Grab a TK Valentini while you're waiting. Food: Innovation at it's best. When you want a fusion of all the Asian cuisine in one place, TK is the answer. If a Thai, Japanese, Chinese and Spanish/ Italian had a child this is what they would feed the child. I love the food here because presentation rocks and it's a deviation from the normal bland foods I find elsewhere. I wouldn't bring a child here but they do have a kid's menu. The food isn't always consistent that's why I stick with appetizers. I see this as a place to hang out with friends so you shouldn't go in expecting a full course meal. They do have wonderful crab cakes. Price: I often order 2-3 appetizers as my entrée because I prefer to try as many things can I can. Appetizers will run around $8-12 but that's worth it because the portions are generous. Service: The staff are knowledge and know the menu inside and out. I'm embarrassed to admit but the people who work here are beautiful. Great food and nice eye candy makes the meal go down nicely. Parking: Side street or garage. The parking situation here is not ideal. If I can move Trumbull Kitchen somewhere else I would because I love the food but don't go as often because I hate the parking situation. read more

Good solid fare and a little eclectic - Pad Thai and Meatloaf are both entrees. Had five different apps - volcano roll, calamari, rock shrimp and sweet potato fritters, grilled filet with truffled tater tots and blue cheese, and Chaing Mai curried noodles. Fritter and Noodles were the winners. The others were good, but nothing outstanding. Entrees were also a mixed bag. The meatloaf was good, though not the best I have had. Others at the table had Pad Thai, the pork tenderloin and the sesame tuna (the winner to the degree there was one). Again nothing really blowing my doors off, but good. Dessert was banana split - bananas were perfectly carmelized with a hard sugar crust on the flat side, ice cream was good, but the pineapple took something away. Service was good and attentive without being overbearing. Overall, solid if not exceptional. read more

Trumbull Kitchen was a bit difficult to find, thanks google maps for giving me silly directions. It was sunday afternoon, pretty quiet, brought a group here for my graduation dinner. The service was excellent, our waitress Pam was definitely a superstar: friendly, attentive, accommodating, knowledgeable about the menu and made sure everyone had what they wanted. (Ever notice how the service gets infinitely better when you have a group of 8+ people that has mandatory gratuity attached? Always thought it was funny). The food wasn't bad, they definitely were great with the vegan substitutions and food allergies. Food was fresh and I liked the ultra modern decor, though my guests weren't as pleased with the entree sizes (they don't have alot of experience with the portion sizes in upscale dining establishments), but liked the food. I would come again. The kids I brought with me definitely looked bored (12 and 10) but they liked their food. + Decor and soft lighting + Fresh produce and meat offerings + Service - professional/attentive + Online reservations accepted + Good for groups (They have a private room upstairs but I don't know how to reserve that) - Semi-small portion sizes - Can accommodate kids but I wouldn't bring them here, there's not much for them to do. read more

Trumbull Kitchen is my favorite restaurant in the area, and for Taste of Hartford 2013 it did not disappoint. We went out for dinner on Tuesday night to try out the prix fixe 3 course menu. Normally, these menus can come a bit short on choices, but at TK there were plenty of great options at a fantastic price. Started out with the shrimp and chorizo tapas with pretzel bread. 3 large shrimp cooked perfectly with a smattering of chorizo sausage in a rich broth. The flavors were excellent and a nice blend of spice worked perfectly to sop up with the pretzel bread. For entree, we each had the Long Island Duck with polenta. The duck breast was cooked perfectly and sliced, with a perfect tasting skin and fat ratio on the outside. The confit leg was a treat as well, with well rendered crispy skin. A bit overcooked, but nothing that mattered in the flavor and taste of the dish. I was a bigger fan of the breast, while my wife was gaga for the leg. The polenta, with corn, had a cherry topping that had a nice blend of sweet and savory tastes. Not minding my manners, it tasted perfect with the duck all mashed together. Dessert presented us with a rich chocolate torte and the chocolate ricotta mousse. The torte was like a thick undercooked brownie, and the 2 pieces per serving was enough for 4 people. The same can be said for the portion of mousse, which was not light and airy, but thicker due to the ricotta content. I loved the taste of the mousse, but it was too rich to eat the entire thing. So, in the end, this was one of the best restaurant week menus I have experienced. All 3 courses were great for each of us, and we want to go back to try to swordfish or gumbo entrees. On other trips with the standard menu, we are always amazed at the great quality and flavor of food we get at Trumbull Kitchen. As i said, its my favorite restaurant in the area (easily the best of the Max Restaurant Group) and last nights meal did nothing to change that opinion. Three cheers for Trumbull Kitchen and we will see you again soon for sure. read more

I loved visiting the Max Group of restaurants while I lived in the Hartford area and I had not been to Trumbull Kitchen so I wanted to check it off my list before leaving CT. We stopped by for Happy Hour on a Friday and sat at the bar. The place was full and vibrant. I felt like I was in a big city and not dead, downtown Hartford. For my drink, I had Happy Hour Cocktail which was a Ginger Gimlet - vodka with their house simple ginger syrup. Though I love Ginger, I did not really enjoy this. I think I was expecting the sweetness of Ginger Beer and it was overpowered by the vodka taste. To start, we had Sauteed Octopus with Broccolini with Lemon garlic and gazpacho verde . I have been venturing into eating Octopus more and I really enjoyed this combination: light, crunchy and flavorful. I also had Seared Scallop Taco Caper-raisin emulsion, radish, and cauliflower. This was a delightful taco and the flavors on point. To end, we shared the Stone Pie with Plum tomatoes, basil, roasted garlic. The bread was soft, chewy and comforting and I love the combination of tomatoes, basil and garlic. The Happy Hour is a great deal with most items priced at $3 and $4. This was another Max restaurant that did not disappoint and a great addition to the downtown scene. They also validate parking for the garage next door. read more

Max's Trumbull Kitchen - Happy Hour!! - New American Near Me - Hartford, Connecticut

Went to dinner for the first time in months since the state shutdown. It was so nice to be out but also a little weird. Out door dining only. Our server was very nice! I really felt for them having to work with masks and gloves. I am sure it is not easy. The service was great and food was phenomenal. Best Peirogies we have ever had. My fiance had the Halibut and I had Hanger Steak. Both were great. I hope they continue to thrive during this unexpected time. read more

We went here after a UCONN game. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. I used the iPhone app and make my reservation via the "open table" link. They have a very interesting menu. American/asian fusion cuisine. Our family ordered the sushi roll as our appetizer and for entrees we ordered pizzas, a seafood Thai dish with scallops and shrimp, and our 10 year old ordered from the kids menu. The food was excellent and the service was equally as good. The atmosphere was relaxing and warm with candle lighting at each table. We never felt rushed and we never felt that we were ignored by our server. read more

I took my team to Trumbull Kitchen for an early lunch one day. The service was prompt, and the restaurant reasonably busy, both good first signs. I had made a reservation via OpenTable, which I always find convenient to be able to do, so I'm glad they use the service. One of my team selected an item, I don't recall which, that the waiter came back not five minutes later to tell us they were out of. Now, it's not unacceptable to run out of something, but I do find it a bit odd that they were already out of the item at eleven thirty AM. To me, that just seems like poor planning. But, aside from that, everything came out great. Sweet potato fries were crisp (many restaurants I've been to fail to do this), and my pulled pork sandwich with slaw had really nice flavor, with just a hint of cilantro to take it from typical to something a little unique. Portions were generally pretty big for everything we ordered, and we got out of there for a pretty reasonable price in my book. read more

We heard a lot about the Max restaurants in Hartford. We're not big on steaks so we decided to try their "eclectic fusion" restaurant called Trumbull Kitchen. When you drive up, the first let down is when the valet parking guy asks you for $9 "in advance." That's a bad sign for a nice restaurant. Can't they cover the valet parking fees? The restaurant was fairly busy on a Friday night. We were seated toward the back of the restaurant. The service was efficient but the food was not up to its billing. My wife had the seared salmon and my son and I both had the seafood pad Thai. The salmon was good but the pad Thai was sloshy, sticky, and over seasoned. Neither of us finished our dish. It was too much. The prices were reasonable but we would have gladly paid more for a better meal. We were disappointed in the overall experience. If a restaurant bills itself as "eclectic fusion," it has set a high bar for itself. Trumbull Kitchen didn't live up to its billing. read more

Ate there this past weekend, the service was great and relatively quick despite the place being packed. We've eaten there a couple times and we've always been pleased. The menu is a little limited in terms of different options, but there is enough diversity that there's something for everyone. We had the shrimp and sweet potato fritters and they were FANTASTIC. The crabcake was also great. The sea scallops were good, but I don't think they paired well with the potatoes that they are served with. The dessert menu was a little too exotic for us, so we skipped it. I'm not really into wine, but they seem to have a good selection. They have some interesting house specialty cocktails. We tried a couple and thought they were alright, but a bit overpriced. The Lil' Bit Country sounded interesting (bourbon and Rhubarb liquer), but it tasted overly boozy and was surprisingly small. The beer list is kind of bad unless you like IPAs because 6 out of the 9 beers on tap are at IPA/APA level bitterness, and a couple are labeled incorrectly as regular "Pale Ales" (there's a pretty big difference). This stuck out to me because it's kind of a pet peeve of mine. A lot of places have tons of detail in their wine list but don't always even list the styles of the beers on the beer list. Listing the wrong style is even worse. read more

The sushi is RIDICULOUSLY good here. All the food is awesome, I have never had a bad dish. Haven't tried the $1.99 menu but it also looks to be good food. Only reason I am giving it 4 and not 5 is because the service is TERRIBLE. We waited literally 30 mins for each drink and the waitress ignored our section of tables every time she walked by. They don't have the best people working here, but the food is worth coming back for. read more

TK is my second fave restaurant in the Max Group. The food is excellent and the atmosphere can't be beat. The latest addition of a DJ on Friday and Saturday, late night, brings in a pretty cool crowd. My friends and I end up here at some point every time we are in Hartford. My favorites include: Berry Basil Martini-I ordered it the "old way" with no pomegranate juice. (Ahh, I long for the days when pomegranates were not trendy.) Shrimp and Sweet Potato Fritters Bacon and Cheese fondue Truffle fries As you can see, I like to keep it healthy. Oh....Hey Hipsters...you won't like it here. Best to wear your beards, sport coats, and ironic t-shirts elsewhere. read more

I was in Hartford for work and decided to try this place for the $1.99 tapas specials they have every weekday from 4 to 7 in the bar area. The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable - so I asked him to reccomend his favorite 3 from the $1.99 menu, together with a side salad. His reccomendations were amazingly good, especially the marinated hangar steak with chimmichurri sauce and the shrimp cobb salad. My total dinner bill for glass of wine, 3 apps and side salad was $21 and change, a super deal considering the quality and portions. The decor was very modern and clean with high ceilings, exposed brick and vintage prints on the walls. Nice after-work bar atmosphere - busy, but very laid back & not too noisy. I wasn't in the mood to sit at the bar by myself and talk to random people, so I was glad there were plenty of cocktail tables. They also have a large outside seating area in front, and a large dining room in the back that was beginning to fill up as I was leaving. Based on my experience I give Trumbull Kitchen 5 stars, and if I'm in Hartford again I will go back for sure. read more

When in Hartford, stop by Trumbull Kitchen! It is a tad pricey but you'll enjoy the atmosphere, drinks and dinner. Most recently, I stopped in with some friends for a light dinner and drinks after volunteering. It was a Monday night and pretty slow but as we were leaving, people were piling in...who knew that TK has the late night scene. For drinks, we ordered wine, beer and an apple cider cocktail. I tried my friends cocktail and it was super tasty...a little too sweet for my liking but definitely a great drink to start the night off. In regards to food, we contemplated ordering entrees or sharing apps. We decided to share the spinach and artichoke dip, Vermont cheddar fondue with potato skins, tenderloin maki and a crab cake. My favorite was the maki and the crab cake! The maki was cooked perfectly and was the perfect bite sized food to share with others. The crab cake...I could have eaten this by myself. It was not dry at all and incredibly flavorful! My least favorite was the fondue which had a funky aftertaste. Don't get me wrong, we still at it all but it just wasn't as satisfying as I had hoped. After chowing down on the delicious apps, we decided to order the chicken pizza with prosciutto and pesto since we couldn't resist. So glad we decided to order this gem...so tasty! It was salty and savory and left me wanting more. Overall service was good. Our waitress let us be which was nice since my friends and I were chatting non-stop. Looking forward to coming back and trying the hangar steak, heard it was to-die-for. read more

With 200+ reviews, it's safe to say that you've got plenty to work with in terms of deciding whether or not to eat here. That said, I feel obligated to share my opinion. I'm honestly shocked at the wide range of reviews, ranging from 1 to 5 stars. I've patronized this place no less than 20 times and the experience has always been phenomenal. Out of the entire Max enterprise, I'll even go as far as saying that TK is my favorite. It has the most well-rounded menu out of the bunch, and they are ALWAYS adding new and interesting specials and/ or additions that keep you coming back. They truly cover it all! For example, last night my wife enjoyed a seafood pad thai, while I enjoyed one of the best short rib dishes that I've ever eaten. Mix the food with an exceptional happy hour, and one of the best draft lists in Hartford, and you've got TK. The place is lights out. I truly would like to meet some of these people handing out 1 star reviews. It literally makes no sense! read more

I was really impressed with Trumbull Kitchen. It's always gotten rave reviews from friends and family, but took me over a decade of living in Connecticut to go. I went for a business lunch and instead of ordering individual entrees, we decided to get a bunch of small plates to share. We got crispy calamari, grilled filet mignon, pancetta roasted asparagus, the curried noodles, and a super food salad. All in all, the dishes were delicious! My favorites were the curried noodles and the filet mignon. The noodles had incredible curry flavor and were an unexpected hit. The filet was paired with truffled tator tots and stilton...it was decadent! Surprisingly, my least favorite was the asparagus. I wasn't a fan of the citrus sauce that came on top. Too overpowering. The calamari was flavorful and also included some fried vegetables as well. I'd definitely go back for a full meal in the future. It has great energy inside and I'm looking forward to trying a cocktail. read more

This is an update to a previous review. My last experience involved fabulous food with lousy service. I have to update having eaten there again last night. I stand by the fabulous food, and last eve the service matched the food. We were there prior to a concert at the XL Center, as was a crowd of people with a line forming out the door. They handled this crowd with professionalism. We were seated exactly at our reservation time. Our server asked if we were going to the show and when we said yes she flew! Got our orders to our table in record time. Kept us supplied with drinks and anything else we needed. Brought the check when asked. We had a really fun time there chatting with the people around us. Such fun energy there last night. Now I see what everyone raves about. read more

A quick drink after work at TK always evolves into "one more drink" & "let's take a quick look at the happy hour/ dinner menu". A few drinks later, great staff and great company, we end up staying much longer. Roger, Amy, and the manager Dave are the masters of customer service! The lunch, happy hour and dinner menu never disappoint & we always feel at home. Shoutout to Dave especially for standing up for my coworkers and I when we encountered some women who were rude to us and management. Dave handled the situation in a polite and professional manner, making us feel MORE than welcome. Thanks to the staff and the chefs for great food and service! read more

Nice gem in Hartford. Asian-inspired fusion (American food with an edge).

Terrible. The dishes look pretty, but the food tastes awful. For starters, we were given breads to dip with banana cream cheese? The breads were hard and dry. For appetizers, we got the chicken dumplings. I didn't try it, but my partner said it sucked. For our main dishes, I got something hanger steak and my partner got chicken pasta. On the side, I got fries. I have never had such salty fries in my life before. I thought I was drowning in sodium. For my steak, I asked for medium-well. It came out pretty burnt and that was all I tasted. It was also hard to chew. The mushrooms in the caramel sauce does not go well together. For the pasta, it tasted bland. Unbelievable! And for the price too? Ridiculous. We both went for a second round of dinner somewhere else. read more

I'm really starting to get upset with TK. Three times now I have come here for lunch and been really, really happy with the food, but really, really disappointed with the speed of service. Although our waitress was quite friendly, things went downhill rather quickly. It took 15 minutes for our order to be taken, another 10 minutes to get bread and then another 20 to finally get our food. We didn't have time to even look at the dessert menu because we had to get back to work. This is the third time I have had this experience at lunch. I have been seated in different areas and had different servers each time. I love the food here and would even still recommend the place, but this regularly happens when I come here for lunch. I'm not sure what the hold up is and I was a little disappointed that our waiter didn't acknowledge the delay in any way. I ordered the Turkey Mushroom Burger with balsamic dressed greens and my friend ordered the Bourbon Burger with the same side. We were quite impressed with the flavor pairings. Just delicious. Anyway, this is becoming frustrating and I will probably stop coming here for lunch unless I purposely want to escape the office for two hours (so basically on Friday) HA! read more

One of my favorite date night spots in Downtown Hartford. The service was amazing, and the food was very high quality. They had great mocktail options, and we LOVED their green curry noodle dish -- it was perfectly spicy, tasted healthy-ish, and was the perfect portion to split. I had a white fish dish and it was cooked very well and i felt full but not uncomfortable afterwards. Great ambience and overall atmosphere. read more

I ended up at Trumbull Kitchen tonight for dinner and was pleasantly surprised that it was restaurant week during my visit - $20.12 for dinner...not bad! The atmosphere was noisy, but nice. All I have to say is, don't get the volcano sushi. Within minutes of eating this, my friend and I who shared this were on the floor and taken by ambulance to the emergency room for the night for food poisoning, and the restaurant still claimed it wasn't their fault. Oh, and the manager handed our other friend the bill on the way out saying "you don't think you're going to get out of paying this, do you".... really? read more

Husband & I consider ourselves connoisseurs when it comes to good food. We travel a lot and put a lot of thought and research into where we eat which is why I can't understand for the life of me why the ratings on Trumbull Kitchen is so low!?!? Anytime we sit at a restaurant we ask the waiter to break down the menu for us, popular foods, etc. John did an excellent job with this! It's clear that he is very passionate about the restaurant and cuisine! He suggested a few of his favorites and let us decide. For appetizers we had the curried noodles & panko shrimp rolls. Both exceptional. For the main course we ordered the scallops (OMG) and the short ribs. The scallops are so fluffy/light! I've never had them like that before. My husband doesn't even like scallops and adores this dish! They come on top of curry rice with a coconut curry sauce. So much flavor. So terrific. The menu is very extensive and everything sounds so delicious, we can't wait to keep coming back to try it all. We've eaten at a lot of places in the Hartford area and this is by far the best! read more

I feel horrible giving this place only 2 stars but I had a pretty bad experience involving TK this past weekend. I went to TK with my boyfriend and I was really excited because so many people talked this place up on yelp. The decor and vibe inside was incredibly trendy and chic. Unable to narrow down what we wanted for dinner, we decided just to order a bunch of appetizers this way we would be able to sample more of a selection. We ordered the Volcano Roll, Grilled Filet Mignon and Organic Cheddar and Bacon Fondue. Everything was presented beautifully, so much so that I almost didn't want to ruin it by eating it. While eating, the food was OK, none of the dishes we ordered were anything to go crazy over. Oh yes, I also ordered the Max's White Cosmo as my drink, that was amazing. I didn't encounter the real problem until I returned home -- about 2 hours after going to sleep I woke up feeling very faint and insanely nauseous. I got sick 3 or 4 times that night and cursed all the food I ate. I don't think I had food poisoning because usually people are sick for a longer period of time. It might have just been the variety of food we ordered didn't mesh well. It was an unfortunate incident and I plan on giving the TK another chance some time this summer. read more

I've always know about this place but never bothered to visit until a friend who works downtown suggested dinner within walking distance. To first mention is parking is only adequate. Street parking is located on all roads nearby but the meters in typical Hartford fashion don't mention wether or not the pay times have passed. Greedy city. Not the Max groups fault at all. Anyways as for TK I made the reservation online for 6:45. We arrived 10 minutes early and were offered a seat right away. We declined in favor of taking advantage of the happy hour till 7. It only applies at the bar. However the staff offered to bring our second drinks right to our table. To move on to food the menu was short but then not at all abnormal. (once you've had cheesecake factory no menu compares) I went with the seafood pad thai while my buddy choose the meatloaf. Appitizer was the salmon tempura suchi. The sushi was amazing, definatly hand wrapped from the loose texture. My thai was great as well, served steaming hot. The meatloaf was good my friend says although I found it odd to serve such a staple American table dish on a giant fancy plate with string beans artfuly arranged across the meat. Even the sause was placed in a dedicated pose ringing the meat slabs. Classy. We declined desert but I didn't decline the single most delightful part of the whole experience. The mojito! I had a couple! read more

My wife and I were in Hartford today and we located this wonderful restaurant on Yelp. We were staying at the Hilton on Trumbull Street so it was just a short walk to get there. Luckily we learned that this was Taste of Hartford Week once we were seated at the restaurant. They had a 3 course deal for $31.00 which was excellent. I opted to go with that and had white corn bisque as an appetizer, NY Sirloin Steak with Cheddar Mashed Potatoes and squash as my entree, and a wonderful Cheese Cake with fruit for dessert. All outstanding! My wife decided to go with the Mustard and Crab encrusted Haddock and she loved her choice. We started with cocktails expertly prepared, and our server Mary was professional, helpful and on top of her game. My only criticism was that everything came very quickly, so if you tell your server to slow it down a bit I'm sure the will accommodate you. The restaurant is set up beautifully, with a great bar. If you like draft beer they have an excellent selection. I highly recommend this establishment, and I will return again when next in Hartford read more

Reality check people! When I read the reviews below it's strange we all went to the same place. 1. Beet salad - Joke. Compare the beet salad and the cobb salad. Same price - 2 different portion sizes. 2. Calamari - cold is disgusting. 3. Service - when you screw up - just come over and say sorry. No need to go into a witness protection program. eeesh. 4. Service - Please upgrade the back service people - or teach them how to serve. You do not take a plate when someone is mid-fork / about to take a bite. 5. Service - Do not say "Here ya' go" when serving an entree. Maybe when you get a job at McDonald's. 6. Bread - First serving was warm and flecked with onion or garlic and delicious. Second round - cold and not the same bread. Too bad. Onion/creme fraiche spread was delicious. 7. Good cocktails. 8. But not going back. read more

In my opinion Trumbull Kitchen is good for two things: business lunches, and happy hours. They do both very well. The service and the food are pretty consistent. I don't really have any favorites, but everything I have ordered has been pretty good. I have been especially impressed with their fish specials lately, and usually end up getting those (don't forget, Max Fish is part of the chain). read more

I prefer this place for drinks than for lunch and dinner. Their eclectic menu is cute, but the portions small and just can never find something I really want. Pretty good definitely has the go for drinks after work feel to it so noise isn't quiet at the moment The appetizer I got was a filet + potatoes which was really good only wish there were more pieces you get about 6 but I could eat 12 The burger was pretty good only problem was the bun but cheese on it helped overall very nice...now for desert What basically amounted to a chocolate shake didn't blow me away, kinda thin and for a place like this I guess I expected better :\ read more

Trumbull Kitchen is where all the consultants working in Hartford are gathered. Or so that's what I assume since everyone was wearing a tie. Great atmosphere here, so good start. We had the Asian Lettuce Cups with Chicken - a fancy way of saying here are some chicken and some lettuce, wrap it up, dip it in the sauce, and eat it. I enjoyed the chicken, it wasn't overcooked and was seasoned enough that I didn't even need the dipping sauces. The Steamed Pork Buns with lemongrass aioli was very good as well, but be warned, it's not pork belly, just pork. For my main plate, I had the Fennel Spiced Atlantic Salmon with Yukon potatoes and brussel sprouts slaw. This was delicious, salmon was cooked the way I asked, and the sprouts added a nice contrast to the salmon. I had a side of the garlic spinach, which was - of all things - where the restaurant failed. The seasoning was not well mixed. There was a colossal chunk of garlic and pepper seasoning hidden in the spinach. When I ate that bite, my taste buds were quite surprised to say the least. For dessert, the waitress told us that the pumpkin cheese cake was light and delicious. Flavor wise, it was like any ordinary pumpkin cheese cake, but it is anything but light. Don't be deceived! It is quite heavy! read more

Visited for my birthday with hubby and a friend. Apps, entrees and desserts were all interesting and tasty. Prices were a bit too high considering the food served, but this place caters to the local, young corporate crowd. Just OK. The service was good and the waiter very helpful in talking to us about the city and what's going on around town. Food was good and the presentation very attractive. Flavor profile was somewhat non-descript. We had fish tacos and crab cakes (I think). The dessert list was typical and wines were mid-low tier but very pricy. I might go back, but I think this is a place I will check off my list and try something new. read more
