Right away Colton made us feel very calm and like he had our best interest in mind. We handed over the car and he kept great communication the entire time. Max's auto body is a joke. My wife and I brought them our Kia soul when we were rearended. Two days after we got the car back the paint started chipping off. This is after he was paid $12,000. We thought ok a minor mishap. A few years later our son was in a small accident when a woman ran a stop sign. So we brought our 2012 scion xb to him to replace the front bumper. His shop couldn't even do that right. We took it back numerous times to get fixed mainly just to align the hood. It's still messed up and now our bumper has stress cracks from not being installed properly. DO NOT USE THIS SHOP. We've been in contact with the owner and still has yet to warranty his work. read more

In a new car a week old, I misjudged how close another car was in a parking lot and brush up against it. Didn't do a lot of damage to the other car, but a panel in my car, and a light, needed to be replaced. Taking my car to Max Body Shop was a very good idea. It's a family owned business and once the parts arrived (overnight) it took three days to get my car repaired and back to normal. The Gallegos were very professional and worked with my insurance company quickly and diplomatically. I can't imagine a better experience. If I could give them 10 stars I would. In February, my husband was in an accident and needed his truck repaired. After having a HORRIBLE (and I mean horrible) experience with the delegated body shop that our insurance appointed , we wanted to get a second opinion. We took our truck to Max's. Between Max and Colton and the techs that worked on our truck, it was so relieving to know that we were able to get honest answers and a compassionate company that was willing to help and not take advantage. I was very disappointed that Max's staff paid no attention to securing my vehicle during the repair work. The paint job was good, but the staff who handled my vehicle, left paint on the seat, the dash board, floor mat, and the window. I went back to show Max what they had done, but they only offered a car wash and a wax. I also requested for a student/military discount and nothing so far. I would not recommend them to anyone. I just had my trunk on my Mercury repainted at Max's. The paint had begun to peel and my unprofessional attempts at touch up actually caused more peeling. So I went to the professionals at Max's. Colton quoted me a good price and the trunk was repainted, but we noticed a flaw in the paint job. A repaint was scheduled and completed perfectly. It is great to know that Max's stands behind their work and name. I have used Max's about 5 times over the years ( I wish people would stop running into me, oops....I've done the same thing myself ) Every experience with Max's has been fairly priced, well done and I hardily recommend them to anyone needing great repair at a fair price. A 2007 Corolla has a rear bumper cover that essentially snaps on with plastic clips. You can buy a brand new, paint-matched, replacement cover on eBay, Amazon, or any # of auto outlets for around $200. Max's quoted over $700!!! ...to bondo out regular road-wear scuffing, and custom paint!? They didn't even suggest simply replacing it. Skeezy as it gets. read more

NOTE: Since I wrote the review and discussed the issues with Max, he refunded my money. While I remain unsatisfied with the work performed, he did "make it right" without any issues other then me going elsewhere for the corrections. I am satisfied that he tried to provide customer satisfaction. The worked performed was replacement of both front frame horns and rear cross member using new frame parts provided by customer. Problem: A shop employee removed a magnetic sign "WOLFHOUND" from the front bumper. Instead of placing it inside the vehicle the sign was lost and never found after repeated requests. Correction: None. The sign is no longer available. Problem: The rear trailer hitch was mounted upside down. Correction: max's employee remounted it right side up. Problem: The original rear fuel tank attachment fittings were too short to reattach the rear of the fuel tank to the new rear crossmember. The body shop did not inform the vehicle owner so she could purchase and deliver proper replacement parts. Instead they mounted the rear of the 18 gallon fuel tank with ungraded bolts, flat washer and nut. The fuel tank hangs from the underside of the crossmember and was basically held buy a single thin ungraded flat washer at each rear corner. The owner considered this to be extremely dangerous for a vehicle frequently used on unmaintained trails and long washboard roads. The fuel tank weighs over 130 lbs full. Correction: Owner saw a what she considered an extremely dangerous repair, ordered new proper parts and replaced the ungraded hardware, not trusting the shop to properly replace the hardware. Problem: A quick exam of the work performed on the front suspension revealed that the bolts mounting the front of the front leaf springs were mounted backwards, the wedges that go between the axle assembly and top of the front leaf springs to set the caster angle were missing, and the new U-bolts were installed incorrectly in a way that seriously weakens the U-bolts. Instead of tightening down the U-bolt nuts evenly, one nut was full tightened then the other nut was tightened. This puts a lot of stress on one side of the U-bolt and relocated the U bend weakening the bolt. This was easily observed by one side having in excess of 2 inches of thread showing and the other having less than an inch showing. The owner considers this to be serious weakening of the fasteners that hold the axle assembly to the springs. Correction: The owner asked for this to be corrected. The Max employee reversed the bolts holding on the front end of the front leaf springs per request. They could not find the wedges. Instead of replacing the U-bolts and tightening them down correctly, they cut the threads sticking down below the mounting nut evenly so it appeared that they nuts were tightened properly. The owner took the vehicle to American Spring where the U-bolts were properly replaced and new wedges were added to correct the king pin angle. Problem: After Max's Body Shop completed the work the vehicle no longer handled properly on the highway and the tires sounded louder than before. On right hand turns the rear of the right side front tire rubs against the leaf spring. The owner hoped that replacing the suspension wedges and correcting the vehicle king pin angle would solve the problem. It did not. The vehicle was taken to R&R to be placed on their alignment machine for diagnosis. They concluded that the problem was that the front frame horns were not properly positioned when they were welded to the frame resulting in the right side wheelbase being 1-1/2 inches shorter than the left side wheelbase. The result being that the front wheels and rear wheels are pointing in different directions causing the tires to drag as they rotate and the front right tire to rub against the leaf spring on tight right turns. The owner considers this to be critically dangerous on wet and icy roads where having tires on one axle pointing in a different direction than the tires at the other end could easily cause the vehicle to spin on low friction surfaces. It is a crash waiting to happen caused by improper alignment of the front frame horns prior to welding. The Owner of American Spring verified the unequal wheelbase. Correction: I took the truck to American Spring where they relocated the right front spring mount to match the location of the front left side bringing my wheels back into alignment. They noted that my front right shock was damaged from it being used a lever point, likely when moving the axle assembly to the pin on the spring, and that my front right tires was damaged from rubbing against the spring while moving and should be replaced. I strongly recommend against using this shop. They assured me that they could handle the job yet messed up at every step and it has now cost me more to have their work corrected than it cost to have the work done. read more

I drive an older truck and after totaling it last month I was faced with a tough decision. Scrap it for parts or fix it up? After 13 years as a loyal friend, scrapping the truck was too much to stomach. So I headed out to the various Flagstaff area body shops. Max's Body Shop was the only one to even give me the time of day! Max himself came out, looked the truck over, and then gave me a variety of different options as I'm on a budget. The other shops in town basically told me it wasn't worth fixing without even hearing me out or taking much of a look at my truck. Max got me a good price and finished the repairs in a timely manner despite having to get parts from Phoenix. He described exactly what they were doing at every step in the process so I was never left to wonder. Got my truck back today after having the entire passenger side replaced and I've got to say, it looks better than when I bought it! Max strikes me as a man with integrity who runs an honest business.
