Great quick lunch!…read more We were able to order quickly at the counter and then find a place to eat out on the patio for our large group. The food came quickly and was all delicious. We tried four different tacos - all amazing, and a sidebof rice and beans that was so flavorful and large it could have been a meal itself!

Looking for some post hike chow, we were traveling back into Bend and oh my my what caught my eye…read morebut El Sancho. I quickly turned left to check out this busy taco shop. Loved that all the food is homemade including the tortillas. We ordered the carne asada and chipotle tacos along with an order of eloté. We could not have been more pleased. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating and we grabbed a table under a big tree. The menu offers some great selections. I was tempted to try the chilaquiles but tacos always get me. Carmen's Famous Tortilla Soup looked really tasty as well, so it looks like I have a reason to return. Alcohol including tequila is also served along with refreshing aqua frescos. Our food came out fairly quickly and it was hot and ready to eat. Tacos were juicy and the eloté although not the best I have ever had still provided good flavor. Location is easy to find although parking was tight. Perhaps it was the time of day we came and it was a weekend. Service was quick and efficient. Ambiance was perfectly beautiful sitting amongst the trees. I would recommend should you find yourself in Bend stopping here for a little bit of Mexico!

Lunch at El Sancho Taco Shop (Lunch with a friend)…read more They have a unique red light / green light system at the entrance that meters the flow of customers. You actually wait for the light to turn green before going in to order. It sounds gimmicky, but it works and keeps things from getting chaotic. Inside, the space is clean, airy, and comfortable. It strikes a nice balance between casual and well-kept. They offer both indoor seating and heated outdoor seating, which is a great option depending on the weather. The staff was genuinely friendly, and ordering at the counter was quick and smooth. We were assigned a table, and the food came out at a good pace. Everything tasted freshly prepared. I ordered three tacos: barbacoa, carnitas, and chipotle chicken. All three were flavorful, but the barbacoa was my favorite. Rich, well-seasoned, and just the right texture. We also ordered chips and guacamole. The chips were light and crisp, not greasy, and the guacamole was simple and fresh, exactly what you want. Nice touch having Tapatío packets available. For Bend, the price felt reasonable. Six tacos, chips and guac, and two Mexican Cokes came out to $42.75. These days, getting a sit-down lunch for two under $50 that actually tastes good is not easy. Overall, a very enjoyable experience. Nothing overly complicated, just good tacos, a clean and comfortable space, and friendly service. I would definitely go back.
