Max Brenner is worth the 50 meter line up with squabbling customers waiting for chocolate. After a fun night out with friends, dessert came to all our minds. "San Churro" one shouted, "Cowch" said another.. "Max B" cried Sara and mutually the nods agreed that old favourite Maxy B boy was the winner. With a new menu up and running a few cool new additions have been made, however these Max lovers couldn't steer from the love of "fondue for 2" or the classic white choc chai. Traditionally Max's doesn't turn my chocolate radar on, but southbank staff and experience never disappoints! Very central on the Southbank walk, coming from either the Mater hospital side or the Ferris wheel side will lead you right to this chocolate shop. Surrounding are a few cool little cafés and things to do, but I vote Max. Always Max.

If you want to get chocolate wasted then come to Max Brenner! I've heard so many good things about Max Brenner and I finally had the opportunity to come here last night. My friend and I came here at around 8pm. There was such a long line! We waited for a good amount of time (maybe 20-40 minutes). They have a little gift shop there, so it was cool looking at the products while waiting in line. We got the Chocolate Fondue for Two and I also got a hot milk chocolate. The chocolate fondue was so visually appealing! It came with dark chocolate, milk chocolate, strawberries, bananas, banana bread, and marshmallows. I was really excited to try it out! The chocolate was so thick, so creamy, so rich. It was very sweet. After a couple of pieces, I was so done with chocolate. It was just way too much chocolate for me. I wasn't expecting the chocolate to be so thick and rich. My mouth was numb from the sweetness. The hot milk chocolate just tasted like warm milk; there wasn't much chocolate taste to it. Which was kind of disappointing. Even though I was sick of chocolate, I still wanted to taste the chocolate flavor of the hot chocolate. I wouldn't mind coming back here again to try something else. The ice cream and the milkshakes looked really good!

Danish toffee chocolate, was very nice. Heavy on chocolate flavour with a slight toffee lingering on the tip of the tongue.

Two words to describe this place...GUILTY PLEASURE! Or just word repeated, Chocolate! Chocolate! CHOCOLATE! This is simply the best place for dessert! If you want dessert for a good size and price, then this is it! I would definitely recommend the vanilla chai tea! It's unique and definitely body warming on a cold winter night! Situated on southbank. Be warned that there will always be a long line out the door of customers, however the wait is definitely worth it! Check out their menu and decide while your in line. The staff there are very affectionate and always smiling. My experience there was pleasant for me and my tummy :) the waffles are always the best! The danish toffee chocolate was rich with the hint of toffee on the tip of the tongue! The sundae is huge! So if you can eat it all, go for it, if not sharing it with a friend or a lover is a good idea too :) Ps, they have a inner chocolate store that you can purchase small boxes of chocolate or fill it yourself customized chocolates boxes :) great gift ideas for chocolate loving friends or family :)

I thought that a place that served chocolate would be able to cater for people that cant have dairy, so when i sore that they served soy milk, i was over the moon. Only to be disappointed when i got to the counter to learn that the chocolate had been pre mixed with full cream milk :-( all i wanted was a hot chocolate on soy milk. This may not make sense to some people cause yes chocolate has dairy in it, but when you know how much your body can tolerate before you start becoming ill , its very upsetting. I ended up eating my friends banana's. Dont think ill be back untill they can cater to people with dairy intolerance.

This is definately somewhere must go in Brisbane! Even though today is week day afternoon, we still needed to queue up for 8 people. We have 4 girls in total and we ordered tutti frutti and banana pizza(without crunch). They are served quite fast. Both of the desserts are great. They are so yummy that i nearly wanted to lick the plates. It is perfect to share to desserts with four people and I was very full after that. Also, it will be less pricey. In the shop, you can see the chocolate is making in a big container and the environment is comfortable. I will definately go back again and recommend it to other friends.

I swear it's possible to gain weight just walking past this place but it is so worth it. My favorite is the fondue for two, if you ask you can get all dark chocolate, that makes it healthy right? Plus there is fruit so you can pretend you aren't one step away from going mouth first into the chocolate pot. Do get a bottle of water as sometimes you just need it to cut the chocolate especially if you have a chocolate heavy plate and cup. Bottles are free at the counter if you are dining in. There is always a line, there is a good reason for that. Everything on the menu will blow the mind of a chocoholic and leave you in a puddle of bliss.

Had the brownie dessert pizza, so good! Very sweet and hits the sweet tooth. Nice location and good restaurant. Would defiantly recommend for good sweet food.

Welcome to "ze land of chocolate"; a place akin to the idiotic imaginings of Homer Simpson in the episode where Germans take over the nuclear power plant. You've got to have an affinity for chocolate, or be hanging out with someone who does, to endure the 20+ min wait in their line to try one of 'the bald man's' creations. I'm not actually a huge follower of the cocoa bean, but am rather fond of its associate the coffee bean, so when I go I usually have one of their signature cappuccinos (a happy compromise) which comes with a dollop of chocolate syrup that makes the usual powder seem a little plebeian. I also treated myself to a small chocolate cupcake which was quite delicious and probably just enough for my rather underdeveloped sweet tooth. But if you are one of those serious chocoholics the sky's the limit here: special 'Choc-tails' like the 'Exploding Chocolate Shot' (pure melted chocolate with popping candies and white chocolate), '100% Pure Chocolate Experience Iscream Max-Which' (vanilla ice cream between chocolate cookies with sprinkles for dipping) and many more chocolate covered indulgences.

One of the first things you see when you walk in. Wonder if that glass is durable...

Every once in a while, (for those of us who like it), we have cravings for the heavenly treat known as chocolate. Max Brenner's Chocolate Bar is probably literally made of chocolate. As soon as you walk in, you smell, see and even hear chocolate, if that makes sense. Why not taste it too? There are a huge variety of options available on their menu, ranging from traditional chocolate delicacies to complex amalgamations covered in chocolate. You as a customer have the option to customize your treat to any extent. It is affordable and even though you gain a little weight, you have to enjoy yourself every once in a while, right? Tempting as it may be, it's not like you're going to eat there every day! For those of you looking to eat it another day or bring it home to your loved ones, they have a seperate section of the bar for buying some chocolate. So go on and check it out.

Will always keep coming back to this place. Favourite desert restaurant in brisbane!!

Many people would consider my love of chocolate an addiction. I mean, I like chocolate, I like eating it, I like baking with it. Is there really anything so wrong with that? It was very nice to visit a place where people understand me. They share the same values as me. That's right, I'm talking about Max Brenner. Chocolate by the bald man. After an extremely dedicated long trip involving 2 wrong busses, a taxi and an extensive walk, my friend and I finally arrived late at night only to have to wait in line for another 30 minutes to simply place an order! I can honestly say I'm slightly pleased to have had this time to be able to choose from the menu though . . . It was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make in my life. I eventually decided on the tutti frutti waffle: Belgian waffle with melted chocolate, icecream, strawberries and banana. So, I shall leave you with this. It was worth the wait.

Crunchy chocolate pizza, very sweet and great for a small group to share.

They were showing off a few items on their menu and gorgeous cocktail creations. My favorite was the rum punch. It is refreshing and before you know it, you need a refill. The food was incredible. Wagyu beef sliders with guacamole. Yes! I also loved the croquettes they were serving. For desert, the brought out brownies bites and strawberry tarts. I could have had a whole tray of strawberry tarts. The staff were SO nice!!! Even with so much going on and trying to keep up with the demands, the made sure you had a drink in your hand and you were having a great time. This made a great impression on me. I haven't been to the area so that made it even more appealing to come back. If this is just the preview of what kind of food and drink Chester B&B will serve, I will definitely be making the trek back real soon and bringing my friends!

Seemingly as soon as they store opened under the hands of Damien Griffith, it shut for a little face-lift. While locals have been enjoying the fruits of a pop-up bakery while the renos were underway, the curtains were finally lifted this week in a series of test kitchen dinners and finally the grand re-opening on Friday. I was fortunate enough to attend one of the test kitchens (as a guest of the venue), and being on a table with other food bloggers meant we were able to sample almost 80% of the menu. From bar bites including a wagyu burger (my favourite), braised leek & bacon croquettes, fresh gravlax, creamy hummus with spiced lamb (which could have come with more than one slice of bread given the ample serving of hummus - it easily fed 6 of us), and a duck and mushroom pie (for the price, myself and others on the night agreed it could come with more of a ploughman's plate arrangement. The duck was moist and the side of pear chutney complimented it well). There's mains like the grilled barramundi (not amazing and a little dry in parts) or the lamb (this was the hero dish from everyone at the table). And, if there was still any room left there's a range of desserts by Jocelyn Hancock including my personal favourite the chocolate and almond cake with espresso creme fraiche. There's also a passionfruit tart, deconstructed eton mess and citrus cake. The space is beautifully simple with white subway tiles leaving way for the main attraction; the wood fired oven. Bakery by day, bar by night, this concept as are many born from Damien Griffith, is an ambitious one. But, if there's anyone in Brisbane to make it work it's this guy. It's novel to think that the same spot that can provide you a fresh loaf of ciabatta or sourdough at 7am can be feeding you delicious meals (either constructing a meal from the bar bites and sharing amongst a group or taking advantage of a main to yourself) and cocktails (try the Aperol Peach Spritz for a Summer refresher) at 7pm in the same day. I think this venue's versatility, location just a hop, skip and jump from James Street and combination of accessible fuss-free food with a focus on premium ingredients gives it an edge as the new "hot spot" in the area.

With 8 flavours and counting, you can choose your authentic korean bingsu flavours like injeolmi (soybean), misugaru (mixed grain), matcha and black sesame or your western flare of Nutella brownie, Oreo & chocolate. Each bingsu is crafted behind the scenes and looks magnificent when it is carried out! The portions are very generous and to devour a bingsu bowl, you need at least 2 to 3 people. Also, I love how the owners have great attention to detail. They freeze the bowls before piling the shaved ice and toppings on it. The shaved ice remains cold and powdery during the consumption duration and not a melted mess like other bingsu shops. The average price of the bingsu ranges from 14 to 15.5 AUD. My favourites are ranked from top to bottom: 1) misugaru with red bean, almond flakes and mochi 2) black sesame with red bean, mochi and a blanket of grinded black sesame powder on top of the shaved ice 3) matcha: scoop of tangy matcha froyo, red bean and a generous blanket of matcha powder on top of the fluffy shaved ice A side of milk is served to drizzle into the bingsu. Don't forget to eat your toppings or create a well in the bingsu because the milk will not absorb into the bingsu! Seating is limited! So for large groups, prefer to wait or walk a couple of circles to active your tummy for some delicious bingsu

NEWS FLASH: BRISBANE IN FROYO EXPLOSION…read more It seems January 2013 marks the month Brisbane opened its arms and embraced the FroYo trend that's been so prolific abroad. Similarly, it seems just as some of my fiercely dedicated froyo friends have overdosed to a point of no return, I'm launching into an all-consuming rose-coloured-glasses love for FroYo. Yep, I'm *that* late to the band wagon. Nominom (pink branding) is the second froyo chain to swing their doors open and share their self-serve frozen yoghurt goodness with Brisbane punters. Unlike it's friend up the road, Noggi (green branding), Nominom is DIY service. It was a rather non-conventional late lunch but who was I to argue with their twee bubblegum pink branding? Your path to FroYo enlightenment at Nominom is the standard self-service routine: + Pick your cup (one size - large), fill it with as many flavoured frozen yoghurts that you think you can handle (they'll be rotating their flavours and when I stopped by there was original, chocolate, blueberry, taro, green tea and a few others) + Shuffle along to the toppings station. They've set their toppings out into good (fruit), treats (candy, jelly bubbles and biscuits) and cereals. + Your final destination: weigh-in and cash register. The moment of truth to see just how well you've decked out your FroYo cup. I had put chocolate and green tea with watermelon and blueberries and it came to $6.38 for what I'd guess was about 300grams. They're running a 50% offer for the opening week so for $3.15 I was ready to take my cup of froyo home. The flavours of the yoghurt didn't pack as much punch as I'd want. The yoghurt could have been a little more tart and the flavours more pronounced. This is 100% personal preference, but I like the idea of being able to select the size of cup I'd like rather than a one size fits all and maybe this is something they'll introduce as they find their groove. It's great to see Brisbane embracing a new "food trend" and I hope people love it for a long time, not just a good time.
