With ten flavors and a great range of toppings I enjoy visiting this place when in Brisbane. I also compliment their spotless cleanliness.

Here's what I super love about this place: SELF SERVE You can serve yourself from a really good range of frozen yoghurt flavours, including a couple of dairy-free options. From what I saw the flavours are mostly fruit-based with a couple of chocolate versions - I'd like to see some green tea in there at some point, and hopefully there will be different flavours available on a regular basis. THEN, once you've made whatever combination of yoghurts that you like, and as much or little as you like, then you head on over to the toppings bar and finish that sweet creation with a flourish. You can choose from all sorts of fresh fruits, or you can go super decadent and add chocolate or candy. Or both! Again, as much or as little as you want. The cost of the end result is calculated by weight, and while I'm not sure exactly what the weight:cost ratio is, I got myself a decent amount of delicious lychee froyo with fresh strawberries for under $4. Pretty sure I'll be having froyo for lunch on a regular basis this summer.

I was on a post-gym, pre-groceries hunger busting mission and frozen yoghurt took out the grand prize. YoFlo has newly opened in Gasworks in the space where Gurts used to be. They hail from Byron Bay and focus on the healthier side of yoghurt with additional breakfast options like paleo Bircher bowls. Those in the froyo know will take to the set up like ducks to water. 1. Pick up your cup. It's a one-size fits all affair. 2. Fill cup with your selected yoghurt. There were 5 or 6 flavours when I visited and range from fat free, dairy free and all are gluten free. Flavours included coconut, strawberry, mango, choc-hazelnut and plain. I made a healthy yogurt version of the Aussie neopolitan Classic with the strawberry, coconut and choc-hazelnut. While you'd easily stop me and say, "But isn't it just another frozen yoghurt place?" and I'd be inclined to agree, I also feel it's important to point out these guys yoghurt did taste far less sugary sweet than others I've had. 3. Select your toppings! YoFlo's toppings do stand to be healthier than most. Fruit, seed and nut mixes take precedence over the very limited sugary toppings like brownie squares and M&Ms. 4. Weigh and pay. It's $2.90/100g.

And when you are…read morestudent and saving money by living in a pretty shit house with no air-conditioning this can be disgusting, sticky heat. Well on one such day I managed to drag myself from out of my house and venture to Hawken Village for a much needed snack to cool me down. Now I was going to settle for icy poles from the Foodworks but instead decided to splurge a little a treat myself to some of Royal Copenhagen's ice cream. Royal Copenhagen opened shop in St Lucia in 2010 to the delight of many locals. They also have a shop in the city that is well loved. The St Lucia store stokes the same great quality ice cream and gelato, with the awesome waffle cones. As well as this, they make a mean milkshake. They have a few seats available but I am more inclined to pick something up to go, and take it to the nearest park, hopefully before it melts all over me. Royal Copenhagen is a lovely addition to the Ville on Hawken Drive, a much loved food hub for students who live in the area.

This place is always swarming with students from the nearby colleges come 7pm, so it has a very friendly and happily feel about it. There's a collection of tables outside and a very drool-worthy selection of desserts available (think chocolate fudge brownie sundaes, rocky road sundaes, chunky monkey banana splits...the list goes on, and on, and on. Oh my). Or settle for a waffle cone to go, loaded with generous sized scoops with additional (and free!) wafers, syrups, nuts and sprinkles to boot.

Mövenpick. Swiss ice cream hey? Look, I consider it a fact of life that if something is Swiss, it's…read moreall good. That's totally wrong about Mövenpick though because Mövenpick ice cream isn't just good, it's amazing. I'm talking sex-in-your-mouth amazing (sorry for the profanity but there is no better way to describe it). Taking a bite of Mövenpick ice cream is like taking a bite of the flavour it actually represents, but a hundred times more tasty. Nutella? It's Nutella in the form of cold, gooey, ridiculously tasty goodness. Don't even get me started on the white chocolate. It had real white chocolate pieces delicately arranged in the ice cream. Once I had it I couldn't stop craving it, it's that good. Mövenpick wins award after award for its amazing recipes and flavours and it literally treats its ice cream like a high-end fashion label; something to cherish and advertise and treat like the art form it is. They don't call their ice cream range just flavours, they call it a collection. A collection! They make it sound like it's limited edition. Which, um, it is. They have limited edition flavour ranges that make an appearance twice a year and, AND, they give their collections whimsical, out-of-this-world names like 'The Gastronomic Collection" with what they dub refreshing dream-flavours, sweet dream-flavours, surprising dream-flavours, and endless dream-flavours. The names alone cast a magical spell. Their website is amazing and is set out like a couture fashion website so you can browse flavours at will and by the 'collection, darling'. When you're at Barracks seeing a movie or getting dinner, please, please go in and try Mövenpick. Get a cone or a tub, I don't care; just make sure you try it and fall in love with it like I have. When you think of Mövenpick ice cream, think boutique ice cream; think designer ice cream; think how you won't be able to sleep until you've sampled its creamy splendour. Seriously, I'm Mövenpick-addicted. You can also find Mövenpick here: http://www.thebarracks.info/movenpick-ice-cream

Ever had too much of a good thing?…read more I don't think this applies to ice cream, or not to really good ice cream anyway. Movenpick have seriously good ice cream. The perfect treat after a movie at Portside or anytime really. The flavours are so incredibly good. I have not tried everything yet but I am yet to have one that wasn't superb. So creamy and rich in flavour, I especially like any form of chocolate, the white chocolate is a favourite with my friends. I have tried the sorbet too. Although I am not a huge sorbet fan, a mango one I had was pretty good. I do prefer the real thing if given a choice. the Swiss sure know how to do ice cream.
