Sonder Dessert - Matcha cake was pretty underwhelming, no matcha taste at all. And a matcha drink. The matcha ice cream was extremely good though.

Started seeing Sonder popping up in various social media feeds so decided to check it out…read more I wasn't disappointed :) Service was most pleasant, very friendly crew. One of the guys actually helped guide our car into a parking spot! The decor is super cute, with hanging plants from the ceiling and attractive lights. The space indoors is a bit tight, there's room for three booths, one long table and about four smaller ones; there are also lots of tables outside. I had the hojicha float, consisting of iced hojicha latte and hojicha ice cream. Hojicha is Japanese green tea roasted over charcoal. The latte was pleasant but the ice cream was the stand out for me! So yum. A friend had the black sesame parfait. It was served in a long glass so it was a bit difficult to eat as we wanted to mix up the various ingredients. The serving had black sesame ice cream, mochi, parfait, cream, sweetened red beans, cornflakes and matcha jelly. Once again, the ice cream was sensational! Overall, it was a really good dessert/experience and I can't wait to go back and try others!

Although not a matcha themed cafe they do have a variety of hot & cold drinks & a cute range of desserts to try - some leaning towards the asian variety. I've read past reviews where some say that the matcha lattes for them was not strong enough, but I guess I got lucky when I had mine the other week? - As I found it hard to fault anything. Service was good & friendly, & I find it a clean, well presented place to go to relax & catch up with friends. Just make sure you don't go in their most busiest hours as I believe there is limited seating. Other than that, definitely order the creme brulee as its memorably amazing & choose the hojicha menu items if you appreciate matcha flavour as they dont disappoint ! :)

I've travelled far and wide for Chinese dessert but I've now found the best Chinese dessert house…read morein Brisbane. Just Soy Cafe in Sunnybank Hills makes the freshest, silkiest tofu dessert (dau fu fa) I've ever tasted. I know a lot of people pooh-soy custard because of its texture. Admittedly, it's an acquired taste but Just Soy Cafe offer an extensive dessert menu, not all of which is tofu based. In hot weather, nothing beats their Japanese Maccha frappe - sloughed ice flavoured with sweeteners, mixed beans and green tea ice cream. Alternatively, try their herb grass jelly or one of their ice-cream based drinks for something refreshing. This place is always popular and loud so take-away may be a better option than fighting the crowds for a seat or sharing one of the longer tables with strangers.

I must say I try to sample diverse Asian cuisines, and yet I've never seen anything like this small…read moredessert place. Despite the name, it is not just soy; indeed I have been there twice and not ordered anything soy, instead indulging in what they call a frappe (shaved ice with flavor and toppings and a spoon), something called herb grass jelly, and green tea ice cream over adzuki beans (yum). What do I like about it? Well for one thing, they have a lot of bean options for dessert, and these all taste good. Having gotten adzuki beans and kidney beans as well as peanuts added to my above selections, these are genuinely appealing desserts with some useful nutritional value. The mix of flavors is appealing. The place is next to a bus stop, and the ride back to town is quick even at night. It makes a great stop after any Asian excursion in surrounding Sunnybank. The prices are not bad at all, though it is cash only. I may yet find myself back there, but I may continue to sample their (large) menu for a while before I even get to their trademark soy custard.

Oishii has been around for years and there's a reason for that - because it is that good!…read moreEverything is made to order as there kitchen is open - And I love it because everything tastes so fresh and good quality. Not even kidding but I have Oishi's phone number saved for ease of access to make reservations whenever my friends and family are craving good sushi. That's when you know it's a definite go to ! They don't mess around with silly western flavors or fusions - their menu is quite traditional Japanese. You can order sushi, noodles, side dishes, rice dishes here which is great if you're not feeling just sushi. They offer fresh sashimi and fried sushi rolls too which is so yummy. Had the udon noodles for the first time rather than just the sushi and I was so pleased it was so simple but executed well.

With sushi rolls like the 'Dragon Roll' and the 'Spider Roll' you can't help but wonder, mmm yummy…read more So this Japanese joint is a little pricey, but the sushi's are pretty big, and made fresh by the guys wearing the chef hats behind the counter. I'm a big fan because.. 1) This place has A&W Rootbeer (woohoo, go the asian in me) 2) This place has green tea ice cream 3) This place serves up a mean agedashi tofu (om nom nom nom) My weakness for agedashi tofu was realised here along with my weakness for the seaweed salad, potato salad and edamame. Oh the edamame. So much of it. In fact the Yakitori Chicken is pretty good too, so is most the stuff on the entree section of the menu. Damn this place! So our bill did come up to a whopping $80 for the 4 of us... but we left there feeling satisfied, feeling like we would come back and feeling like we wouldn't be sick the next day - which is always a good thing. Definetely going back there.
