I lived in Paris for a year, so it's fair to say I've even my weight in the best pastries the world has to offer (damn them and their snobby ways, they are so right). Saying that, there's a pretty big chunk of my heart dedicated to apple slices and apple turnovers. Specifically ones made with that gelatinous apple filling that's mainly choko and cornflower.
You can only find these at old school bakeries, and they're often refrigerated from the day before and tres disappointing. Not at Boulevard Bakery. This place probably hasn't changed sinced Brisbane had trams, and the baked goods are fresh and cheap. Sometimes a girl just has to say no to extravagent patissiere's and go for a good old fashioned Aussie fave. read more
