Not only do they have a wide variety of bread options and sweet baked treats, they usually have a discount table towards the afternoon. You can find all sorts of baked goods on the table as it varies from day to day. Many times I've picked up their scones at half price or sometimes even more than half price. I have taken home bags of cookies at a fraction of the cost or loaves of bread heavily discounted. When I am planning on having guest over in the afternoon, I duck out quickly to see the specials. I know, sounds a bit sad, but it is a part of my grocery run and they do have hard to resist specials a lot of the time. Clearly, I get bread here a lot! The service here is wonderful. The ladies behind the counter are very patient with me. I like to take my time in choosing my cakes and baked goodies. I like planning on when and what I will be consuming during the week. Sometimes they might even pop in a suggestion- I think it may be a ploy to rush me, but I still very much appreciate it. Great little bakery in Jindalee with great value for money options.

The sweet treat that makes me weak at the knees are the custard tarts... Oooh, yum! They make them extra tasty here and the pastry is the best. Their bakery display shelves are full of eye-grabbing and delicious treats. They've got sweet 'Dreamy Biscuits', as they call them and plenty of colourful meringue treats. In addition to all their colourful sweets, which I'm guessing are created with children in mind, the treats on the right side are all the other fantastic desserts you'd find at cafes. There are different flavoured cheesecakes, a selection of tarts and cakes. Customer service here is not the best, I feel it's a bit rude at times, but really, I don't care so long as I get them sweet treats!

The menu just leaves me underwhelmed. Not because it isn't good our meals were decent (my vego sandwich - pumpkin, lentils, haloumi and rocket was a filling and reasonably healthy option for Saturday lunch). It's just that I feel the owner, one of Brisbane's most lauded chefs, could have taken more of a punt to bring together a menu that was bold and full of something more than a pasta dish, some hearty winter options (shanks) and open subs. I acknowledge this also could be what they're going for so that it is accessible to many. Perhaps as the weather warms and salads return to the menu this spot will truly shine. The prices are decent. $12-$14 for more subs and your most expensive mains being the lamb shanks at $24. Breakfast ranges from $10-$18 for their version of the big breakfast and there's a dedicated kids menu for breakfast and lunch. They'd run out of glasses on our visit and the service was a little patchy. From ordering to eating lunch there was a 45min wait for our meals (a rueben sandwich, a vege sandwich and a chicken salad to be brought to our table). And coffees that were ordered long after others were delivered first with us having to follow up on the others. Still, each time I've been at the home maker centre it's full. Which shows that it's a gem in a sea of hungry home shoppers wanting more than McDonalds and locals alike.
