The owner gives a lot of time to each customer and I think this is very satisfying. Although, the wait can be a bit long for the sake of the service. Be Patient because all that attention will be yours soon. There are some good European finds in this small shop. Fun to poke around.

We were not even hungry, as we ate breakfast/lunch while being in Steveston Village, and walking around noticed a sign for a bakery, and my 'meat-addicted' mind wanted to come into this place! They are the new kids to the block, but when you enter you know quality when you see it. All types of meat, some even 'dangerous' looking (the all albino white one, see that and you be the judge!') to your arteries, but you know it's going to be so damn good in your mouth. The people working here were very informative as to their product, knowledgable and friendly. Explaining the whole process of the meats, as to where they are processed, what is in all their versions of sausage, the ingredients, the taste, and even the storage, and knowing that there is no preservatives, so you shouldn't just buy, and keep them laying around in the fridge, as they will discolor, but don't you worry, they are still edible, just not as attractive as when you bought them, and that is why you should come in here, buy, go home, cook and enjoy! I ended up buying two sausages from them for our late dinner breakfast, yes it sounds weird, I know, having buttermilk pancakes for dinner, and I needed a meat side, and I was amazed at the flavor of these links! My partner was iffy about the feta cheese that was in these things, but the hint of spice, there was fruit in them, and meat, a mixture that just made us wish we had more, but now we know, this is the place to hit up for your specialty quality meats if your in Richmond. Already thinking of the next 'breakfast' time, and making the trek to try their other assortment of sausages, and maybe tempt that maple bacon I saw out of the corner of my eye!

There are over 20 varieties of schnitzel to try here, plus other entrees so theres probably something that will satisfy everyone. The outside of the schnitzel was so crisp, and the spaetzel was the perfect compliment. We got the Reuben and the Jaeger Art and both were delicious. The portions are big too so I had breakfast the next morning. HIGHLY recommend if you're in the Qualicum beach area.

Then you have a plethora menu of toppings from the more normal... yeah, if normal is a word here, to the crazy with loaded with lots of toppings, melted cheese, to curds, to gravy, to bacon, you are getting it with either boiled red cabbage, rice, or potatoes. Look, it's tasty food, and you are going to be full up, because the portions are... plenty. Let's use that word, because it's plenty. The service is good, our server was great, he shared opinions about the menu, and they were good options. The ambiance... is casual, loud, and delicious. So why not 5? Here's the context, we came at dinner hour 5:30, lots of people eating, so tables were packed. While our Schnitzels were great, when our companions got their food, as the same time, the meatballs were just warm. After a brief apology, they quickly remade the food, but first impressions. Anyway, they did make up for it, and the places was a mess of people, so orders were likely being quickly made, and ours wasn't made completely, which was okay, overall, the food was still tasty, ours, and our group's food when a totally new order came from the kitchen. So it's not a bad place, I would come again, and if you want to leave full, and not even remotely hungry, this is the place for you.

There was a nice feel to the room as it was not too loud. A great ambiance. We were given our choice of a couple of tables when we arrived. The service was okay. For appetizers my husband had the goulash soup and I had Hunter Spatzle. My husband said his soup was not as flavourful as he was expecting. My spatzle was supposed to have a mushroom gravy on it but there was not much gravy and the spatzle was not well drained. For entrees my husband had zigeuner schnitzel and I had the sole with baby shrimp and Riesling sauce. The schnitzel is very thin as opposed to the thicker cuts that are served at most Bavarian restaurants that we have gone to. It was very tender but my husband was disappointed with his meal as he prefers the thicker piece of pork. The sauce was just all tomatoes and he said it was very bland and not very interesting. My sole was good but not exceptional. We were going to have dessert but by the time our server came to ask if we wanted dessert we had lost interest. It is a beautiful room, the prices are average but overall we found the food was not to our liking. The ladies washroom was out of toilet paper. Awkward.

The potatoes on the side were made with German speck and taste exactly as I knew them. The portions were hearty and we all cleared our plates without question. While there's no dedicated children's menu, a standard schnitzel should satisfy most kids palates, mine loved the spaezel and the charcuterie board was devoured by adults and children alike. The breads are very European, such as rye. Not for everyone, but fresh and tasty. What I really appreciated here was the owner making his rounds, having conversations with his regulars, making new customers feel welcomed and keeping traditions alive. You don't get that so often anymore, it's more about creativity, fusion, new, ratings etc. This was a traditional experience with delicious food and I will definately be back. Be warned, they're popular so you'll need to book in advance and they're old school, so call and leave a message! Worth it!
