    Chicken Satays
    Judy J.

Touted as "one of the few authentic Indonesian joints in the lower mainland". My date and I shared a large dish that came with two proteins, choice of vegetables & rice. Of course the Rendang Beef was one and Balinese Chicken. Personally, I'm not a fan of Rendang (I know!) but my date absolutely loves this. It was quite authentic tasting but he thinks it could have been drier. I was a big fan of the chicken. Spiced & flavorful & chicken was juicy. Both proteins were generous in portions. They ran out of their other veggies so we only got the mixed mushrooms & Gailan I think. They were also out of the coconut rice which was disappointing. Chicken Satays were ok, lots of peanut sauce which is great. The lady was super friendly & I believe this stall is familiar run. It located in International Village/Tinseltown food court so easily accessible by skytrain & great if you're looking for a quick bite before /after a movie.

Tasty spot for a quick meal inside the international village mall food court. The large build your own plate was $14.99 for two proteins, rice and veggies. We tried the beef rendang, chicken and grilled eggplant with the yellow rice. On the greasy side but so tasty! The chili hot sauce is HOT!

Bali Thai is a great Indonesian restaurant. I visited Vancouver from the US, looking for an Indonesian restaurant, and this hits the spot. It's in a food court, 2nd floor at the International Village Mall.

Bali Thai is a local, family-run food court stall serving in authentic Indonesian cuisine at low prices. I noticed the line this weekend we all Indonesians so food must be good. It was delicious food. My friend had the special of the day: beef ribs and I had the "Build Your Own Special" so I selected the 2 proteins (friend fish and chicken) with plain rice and green vegetables. My friend and I enjoyed our meals and don't mind sitting in the food court for good and fast food. I would come for lunch or early dinner as they close by 6pm or run of our their specials by 5pm. For under $17, my plate was satisfying. Bravo to the lady running the front and shouting orders to the kitchen while navigating multiple customers all by herself. Certainly be coming back when I'm in this neighbourhood. International Village Mall has free underground parking. Paid meter parking is all around so go under for free parking and take the elevator to the food court level.

Tempeh orek, Chinese greens, mushrooms, coconut turmeric rice (vegan)

High-quality, authentic Indonesian food from this food stall in the International Village food court one floor up from ground level. They have advertised vegan options, which is what prompted me to try out the place. A standard plate (about $13 plus tax) includes a choice of protein (I got tempeh orek), Asian greens, button mushrooms, and either white rice or coconut turmeric rice (I got the latter), with some garnishes/toppings. (Warning: their red hot sauce is hot!) The tempeh was really nicely marinated and cooked, giving that signature nuttiness in flavour, with tons of flavour. Good portion and very friendly lady working the counter. Recommended.

I visited here back in November to get some Laksa. First of all, I didn't like the egg noodle and expected to have vermicelli instead. Talked to the staff as she blamed me rather than asking me if I wanted to change noodles. Her friend sided with her to argue it was rude. The dish was also came with tons of noodles with less meats for $15.99. Soup was good though. I can eat something better for that price tag.

    Beef rending, Balinese chicken, eggplant

A large combo includes 2 proteins plus rice. They didn't have coconut turmeric rice the day I went. Chose beef rending and spicy Balinese chicken. There are large chunks of beef, and they don't skimp on the portion of keat like some other places do For vegetables chose the eggplant which is stuffed with green Chile. I like that you have a choice of vegetables and that they aren't just the cheapest/most typical (potatoes, carrots). The food is clearly homemade, and all the sauces, including the hot sauces, are homemade. Super flavourful, meat is tender, and you can pull it apart with chopsticks. Can customize the spice level, i went eith very hot, and it did not disappoint. The owner is super nice and friendly. They also sell a bottled iced latte, which I haven't seen anywhere else.

I ordered the build your own combo, and highly recommend any of their beef offerings. I would say that the food was much better than you'd expect from cafeteria food, in the best way possible! If you tolerate spice, ask for more of the chilli oil

Authentic Indonesian dish! The lady behind the counter is super friendly. They server better dishes than all the other Indonesian type restaurants in Vancouver. We will always visit when we're in town. Note: If you're a fan of spice, ask for the crazy hot sambal.

The food is so good. Tastes like mamas home cooking and the lady is sooo nice. She offers recommendations. Get the grilled eggplant as your side and top it with green chili. Unbelievable. Beef rendang is perfectly spicy and they can add fried onion on top for a little crunch. It's inside a small food court so off the beaten path but definitely worth seeking out. Great meal at good prices.

Bali thai is the only indonesian food in town. So if you are craving for indonesian food say no more because bali thai got your back. Anyway, it serves from mie ayam to rendang to opor to bakso and many more. So far i have tried the mie ayam and the rice with vegetables and meat dishes. Rendang was really good. The mie ayam was good and i am looking forward to trying more in the future. I will see you soon tante! P.s. Ohh they also sell corn fritters and very good tempe here. Ohh and teh botol is something that you can get here. Also, do not forget to ask for the most spicy sambal. It was really good and definitely something you should get.

Nice lady taking the orders. We ordered the Beef Rendang and chicken satay. Nice taste! Hidden gem in a half empty mall. Please visit them to keep them in business. Not that many Indonesian restaurants around!

Bowl of curry laksa with generous amounts of taofu, tomatoes+coriander!

Had the Indonesian laksa for lunch. It was good, what truly made this dish was a GOOD base of coconut milk and perfect on point curry ratio, but the owner's home made belachan lifted this from a 3.5 to a 4 star. Why not a 5 star? Its located in a food court, not ideal but the quality of the food is authentic. Had some sweetcorn fritters which the Indonesians are so famous for. This was divine. Perfect, crispy, non-oily with tons of garlic. Reminded me of the Cape Malay food I grew up with. Modest place, yum food.

It was the right amount of spice, heat, and that noticeable fragrant from the wok-hei. I live in the North Shore, at least once a month I have to go to PK and order. Same goes with their fried noodles. It was amazing. The one that is unique and not to mention extra tasty is their deep fried pork rice bowl with Balinese sambal matah. They are pretty well known for their lobster laksa, which is $19 on its own. We ended getting the combo that included curry chicken rice, curry fish balls, roti, a soda and a milk tea for $39. The fish balls and curry chicken rice were pretty standard. The chicken has a slight spiciness to it. They do give plenty of rice. Now for the star attraction, the lobster laksa comes with a whole lobster tail. It's a pretty small lobster tail that was a bit salty. Certainly not the best lobster tail I've ever had, but at this price point it's rare to get a lobster tail. The laksa itself was quite good. Really like the soup, which as not super thick but it was creamy, sweet and flavorful. Noodles and the fish cake inside were decent. Overall, it's a good amount of food and decent deal for the price.

It came with 4 prawns, a small sliced boiled egg, some tofu(?) thingy and bean sprouts. The noodle consists of a mix of vermicelli and round noodles. The major disappointment was that the soup was neither thick nor flavorful. It was watery and as if the vendor cheaped out on adding a teeny bit more sauce. Also, the portion was not very generous. Usually when i order from other restaurants and vendors, the dish would come with other toppings such as fish balls and tofu puff, plus the portion was a bit more. This was my third time trying this vendor after a long time as i was also not impressed by previous visits. I don't think I'll ever go back again. This is more of a 2.5 stars experience.
