My purpose today was to get my NY State inspection on my Jeep and I chose Mavis as I knew my tires were questionable at best...good thing I did as my tires were at end of life. I've got to tell you that I am thankful and happy with the Team at Mavis. I went to mavis on west Genesee st in syr n.y and I got tires a year ago went there to get a rotation and they told me I needed 2 front tires I told them I just got them 3 months ago and they were confused so they kept pushing me off for 9 to 10 months because they had noone to do them so made appointments and every time I went there was no employee so I finally got there yesterday and they warranties two front tires and they didn't even match Iwas so surprised because they told me they were the upgrade of the one I had I was like he'll no then they were able to find 2 of the ones I had I even got a allinement and they told me I had to pay for that they put 10 wide on my rims and there 12 now they want me to pay for this what kind of company can't remember what they did when I came in every 2 weeks with the problem for 9 to 10 months there scams getting lawyer and letting car sit I have more cars read more

Ive gone to this mavis a couple times now. I will no longer go to this place. they told me I needed new tires and were getting Bridgestone tires. I get there and they put on their knockoff mavis discount tires. ive had other instances that seemed a little off and seemed more money incentive rather than helping the customer. the service was okay but I don't trust this place to give me the proper maintenance that is actually needed. never going back read more

So this place has gone from 5 stars to negative 5. I arrived here at 7:55 am, since I was told its first come first serve. I was the first person in the door, so I decided to wait for my vehicle thinking first person in, means my car will be the first serviced. I was only getting my snow tires removed and all seasons back on, no major work. First one in DEFINITELY does not mean first services. This whole "first come first serve" policy they have is absolutely BULLSH*T! It is now 9:15 and my car still has not been touched. They worked on 4 other vehicles that ALL came after mine. Mind you they don't do appointments, they do reservations. Basically it's who you know here. This is an unbiased review and I had good experience here before, not so much anymore. Extremely dissatisfied and disappointed. Manager was extremely apologetic and polite, wasn't aware how long I had been waiting. So 4 stars for the manager, but not for the guy that processed me on arrival. read more

I cannot believe what scam artists these people are. I went in for my car inspection on my way from Rochester NY to Boston and stopped in Syracuse for the inspection. I waited hours and then, not surprisingly, they say the car has failed inspection because of a left front coil spring and it will be $800 to repair. Yeah no way I'm doing that. So I had to turn around and go home to Rochester, wasted 5 hours and $20, to go to a mechanic I trusted. No surprises, the mechanic I trusted at home said everything is working perfectly fine. DO NOT give these people your money they are going to tell you you need things that are working perfectly fine in your car. If I could give these people 0 stars I would. read more

This particular location has employees that have no clue when it comes to vehicular mechanics. I had to explain to them how a braking system works because they failed my NYS inspection because they don't realize when you pry a caliper piston back in the caliper will slide back and forth until the brake pedal is depressed again. They wanted to charge me for a complete brake job that was just done 3 months ago. I Immediately drove to Midas where it easily passed inspection, because the brakes WERE JUST REPLACED! read more

Well, I came in for new tires and an alignment. Dropped the car off. Got a call at noon telling me my wheel bearings were loose. There's an adjustment screw on my wheel bearings. Just a basic adjustment. The guy on the phone told me they don't adjust wheel bearings because they don't want to be responsible for replacing them if there's a problem in the future because they didn't replace the parts. They could fix it but they aren't going to do it but they would go ahead and do the alignment and check with the manager and let me know if they would adjust the wheel bearings for me. An hour and a half later I stop in. The guy I talked to on the phone never did the alignment, cars just been sitting there and he said he hasn't had time to talk to the manager about adjusting the wheel bearings. Him and the manager were sitting side by side at the counter and he didn't have a chance to ask him? Makes no sense. The manager asked me what was wrong. I explained everything and he asked me who told me they don't adjust wheel bearings. I pointed at the other guy and said he did. The manager said he would do it himself. Not a problem. But the guy on the phone said the manager said no. When I asked the guy (operator number 1582) "I thought you said your manager wouldn't let you adjust the bearings?" He said "I was going by what my mechanic said" well on the phone he said the manager said he couldn't and they would still do the alignment. How do you align a car with loose wheel bearings? Whatever. He said he would check with the manager again about the wheel bearings and do the alignment. An hour and a half later, no alignment, the story he told me on the phone wasn't the story I got in person. When I got here he said "well I wasn't sure if you still wanted the alignment" then why did he tell me he was doing it when we spoke? If there was doubt he should have called me back. I'm kinda shocked. This guy is a story teller and liar. Says one thing on the phone and the story changes in person. Terrible experience. Glad the manager is taking care of it since I am spending $700 on tires. read more
