Fair warning of Mavis in Pine Bush: my daughter has a 2023 Toyota RAV4 with 36,000 miles. My husband made the appointment for her, telling them that she only needed the nail hole plugged., an easy repair which some places don't even charge. He didn't have time to do it himself, but thought a local business would be safe, especially since he told them she only needed the plug. Instead, they convinced her she needed the tire plug, windshield wipers, wiper fluid, and to flush her break fluid!!! A $214 bill! What a scam! She didn't need any of this except for the plug in the tire. Customer beware! read more

Make an appointment and show up early, but still wait over 2 hours for an inspection. A 20 min task. Do not waste your time here, I couldn't imagine having actual service done on a vehicle. You get what you pay for and here it's lack of knowledge and a slap in the face. read more

The folks at Mavis were so helpful in identifying and eliminating a grinding sound when we used the breaks. It turned out to be the dust cover (I think) and not the break pads and they didn't charge us for their work. They were efficient and helpful. Thank you! read more

3/3/24- After being taken advantage of at Youngs Auto repair in Pine Bush, I started going to Mavis in Pine Bush. Young takes forever, they can't stick to a scheduled appointment, they leave your keys in the car that makes it easy for someone to hop in and steal it, they treat you inhumanly and cost more than a dealership. Joe at Mavis is top grade auto professional. Very very kind and isn't trying to oversell you and rip you off. If you go for a service, you leave only getting that service. No hassle, no up selling, just good ol fashion give you what you ask for. I got a nail in my tire on a Sunday, Joe got me in and out and didn't even charge me. Mavis also did my brake pads for HALF the price of Young's and the dealership. I highly recommend Mavis, I wish they did more services so I wouldn't have to deal with anyone else for more in-depth tune-ups. Highly highly recommend if you're near pine bush. They are always busy so I'd make an appointment otherwise you may mistake how busy they are for "slowness." read more

I made appointment for 12pm 0n 10/12/23.I got there at 11:30 and dropped car off. I wanted 2 front tires and wheel alignment. I called at 2:20 and they said it was in shop,called again at 4:00 and still wasn't done. I called again at 5:30 and they forgot to call me that it's done,got there and had to wait 10 minutes to see someone. The job should have taken maybe an hour and half maybe 2 hrs nt six hrs. read more

The technician drove my car away while smoking in the car... who on earth smokes on the clock let alone in someone else's car? Also, an inspection here takes 1.5 hours. Not a walk-in, made an appointment. It took them 40 mins to bring my car in from the parking lot to the shop. Also, there are ants crawling around their waiting room. I had a broken valve stem on one of my tires and the tire kept losing air very quickly. They got me in right away and fixed the problem fast. Everyone there was very nice and helpful. read more

Within the past couple of months, we've been here for gulls sets of tires on two cars, an inspection and oil change, the staff was friendly and accommodating. Hubby was the one who took the cars I for service and I just tagged along. Flash forward a month or two later. Five days before my inspection expires, I brought it in to get inspected, it was a Monday. Apparently Mondays are sacred here and they don't do inspections on Mondays. I was given the option to bring it in Tuesday for "drop off", meaning bring the car in the morning, leave it for the day, and we'll see if and when we get to it. I don't have an alternative way of getting home, so Tuesday was out and I wasn't given an option to make an appointment either. Come the Friday when my inspection expires and I try again, and as I barely even finish asking, I was told the first chance was Tuesday(remember, Mondays don't exist here). Again to offer to schedule an appointment. Maybe it's me, maybe I don't possess hubby's ability to charm people, maybe hubby just caught them when they had nothing better to do and we're thankful for a way to Jill time,maybe it's even chauvinistic, but what a different experience I've had compared with hubby. I'm basing this on my sole experience: Mondays shouldn't be off limits, they should schedule appointments or check availability at other branches, and they should at least pretend they value their customers and repeat business. read more

I have been coming here for years for oil changes and brakes and two sets of new tires and I have never been given an unfair price or been talked down to. The last time I went, Tom was the front desk person. He is very professional and kind. This place is always busy (because they are good) but Tom fit me in the same day I called and then apologized profusely for it taking a little more time than expected. Seriously the best service. It's hard to find a trustworthy place like this. read more

I came into to get tires an alinement and oil change, not inspection and they started yanking on stuff on the under carrage and on my rotors trying to get something to break to get more money, disappointed in that. I had just fixed exhaust and new front brakes, I had it up on lift two days prior I know what was what. They were prompt, but the way they try to stick you for more $ is shady. Ordered tires through Goodyear and they sent me here to have them installed. I was unimpressed with the entire installation process. I made an appointment well in advance, called to inquire if I had to drop off my car or if I could wait; I was told to wait because it would be quick since I had an appointment and my tires were already paid for... that was a lie. I spent 3 hours here waiting for my tires to be installed. They took walk-in, after walk-in for plugs, single tires, oil changes, etc. I got up twice to inquire about the wait and was told my service tech was being held up by a current job. When I got up to sign my paperwork, they attempted to charge me an additional $45 for installation when my Goodyear receipt showed I already prepaid, I had to point out on the print out and the technician was clearly annoyed with me. I won't be coming here again for tires, even though it's the closest to home. Its not worth the time or aggravation read more

Brought my suburban in to have my tires (that I provided) mounted and balanced. I was told over the phone that they had multiple spline sockets as mine wasn't in my vehicle when I bought it. I dropped it off and after an hour they called and said they couldn't get the tires off because they didn't in fact have spline sockets. No problem, simple miscommunication, so we drove back and picked the truck up. I gave them my brand new tire sensors which they obviously couldn't put in but didn't put back in the truck upon pick up. I assumed they had and when I went to another place to get my tires done realized they weren't there. I called them and they didn't have them and "the cleaning crew must have thrown them out" but rectified it by replacing the tire sensors at no cost. read more

BEWARE!!! Don't take your care to this Mavis! They are crooks. They told me l needed back brakes and a battery. I was already getting 4 new tires. I was told that many times people say their battery is fine and then a few days later they are stranded. Well l was stranded in their parking lot! As soon as l got in my car it would not start. I had no signs that my there was an issue with my battery. They got my car started and l was told by my mechanic they probably disconnected something. When he checked my battery a few minutes later! It was fine. Also l saw them using a blow torch during the alignment. I asked why guy said it was a part of the alignment. Will keep an eye on that as well!! read more

Worst experience and so disappointed they sent me off with a faulty tire. Needed tires on my Mazda. First there was an issue with getting the right size tire for the car. That was Day 1. Drove away with an appointment for the next day. Day 2 drove off the lot with four new tires, battery, and back brakes. I decided to do the work because this is my only car, three kids to get around, and the winter weather. Drove off the lot and tire pressure light goes on five miles from the shop. Turn around and go back. They check the air pressure on all four and the one tire is low. Why would you not check that? On the way home I get a call from the manager to "keep an eye" on it because the rim was corroded. I was not told that when I left. They did fill all four tires up and the tire pressure light goes on again later that night. Here we are Day 3. Did some errands this morning come back to the car and guess who has a flat. Called the dealership and reported it to the manager. His response, "I told you to keep an eye on it because the rim was corroded". Did not make it to Pine Bush today, because of safety and distance. Called the call center and brought the car to the Gardiner Branch. Waiting to hear back from them. All I have been doing is waiting. So irresponsible that after the work and expense (1400) I still do not have my car. Very tired of being played for a female fool. Was challenged at the Gardiner Branch about a faulty sensor in the tire. I know how to read a tire gauge fellas! I could probably have grinded off the corrosion and slapped some bead sealer on it myself at this point. Expecting some compensation for this huge three day hassle. read more

I needed an inspection so I called on Saturday for sunday (hoping they do it on sundays because no one else does around here) and they first me in. I went Sunday and they took my car right in. They didnt take long at all and I was on my way. The employees were very nice and professional also. Definitely recommend this place. read more

If there was a negative rating I would be checking it ! What a horrible time consuming experience ! Went in to get a flat fixed, which BTW the tire was purchased from them and only had 23,000 miles on it, and 3 hours later was told they can't fix it because of dry rot ! Then they proceeded to tell me that all of the tires had dry rot and needed to be replaced. Let me remind you that these tires were purchased from them and only had 23,000 miles on them and were not abused in any way. Now it is early evening and the tire is completely flat so I have no choice but to purchase another tire from them after spending hours and hours there. I've seen 5 stars and one star on this place. If you get 5-star service, consider yourself lucky and stay away from brake work. I came in with a car that needed inspection to drive to Boston next morning. Not a thing wrong with it. They told me I needed new brakes front and back, and rotors were shot. I had them do the work, as I trusted them and I wasn't the one driving the car lately. Gave me the car back. My daughter took it to Boston, and discovered that the new inspection sticker was missing. I asked Mavis, and they said, Bring it back and we'll put it in. My daughter lost work to drive back again and get the sticker. Meanwhile, the new brake job was squealing. Manager said he'd take a look while putting in the inspection sticker. Said all it needed was to be sprayed with something or other to break in a new set of pads. Put in the inspection sticker. Brakes continued to squeal a few days later, then rumbled, pulled to right, and generally scarey. Took the car to the car dealer who sold it to me. He looked around and said, "What did they say they fixed?" I have a new bill now--four brake and wheel assemblies seriously messed up. $939 to repair damage caused by Mavis brake guy. Dealer showed me the parts--there was nothing new there, including pads worn to the metal. I absolutely, positively will not go there again for any reason whatsoever. I have found two service centers in the Pine Bush area that I will use exclusively. Note to person who was planning to write to Better Business Bureau: Over the years, my experience has been that BBB is there for the company, certainly not for the customer, won't respond to any inquiry, and ignores requests for information of any kind except to say to contact the vendor. read more

NEVER go here, I was quoted a price for 4 tires, mounted, balanced and alignment and NYS Inspection, got to the store and within 30 minutes they are trying to sell me brake pads and rotors, then tell me the vehicle will not pass inspection as my brakes were metal on metal, This was a complete lie, as I told them to leave the brakes alone and I would take it elsewhere. Not only did I not need brakes, but my rotors were fine, They tried to soak me for over 200 bucks for a service I did not need, then they charged me 921.00 when I was quoted 724.00, they stated " we put valve stems on the new tires and they are only 3.99 each, I never authorized this and the valve stems were fine, I have lodged a complaint with corporate and of course they have not gotten back to me, Next is the BBB, I was taken advantage of because they thought I was a dumb female. They did pass my vehicle on inspection and when I asked them why, since they said my brakes were metal on metal, they stated, Well, not yet so we passed it... That alone should tell anyone they will try to rip you off. Mavis Tire, you should be ashamed of yourselves.
