I walked in the store and was immediately greeted with a friendly hello! The customer service gentleman asked me which was my car outsie and then went out to look at the car and tires. I was given the information for different quality tires and pricing that they offered and I chose the premium level (Hankook). They then offered me the option for alignment, which I took. I asked if the car could be ready at a certain time and they guaranteed that and also said that they should be done earlier than that and they would call me.. .They did! Apparently when Mavis sells you a bad battery you are supposed to bring it, in the car, so that they can check it otherwise the warranty is good for nothing. So in other words, I was supposed to know, when my car couldn't be jumped, that I was supposed to go on the website to learn that the two-year warranty is only good if you have your car towed and then leave it there to have them check it out. Of course I didn't know this and when I brought my car to have it checked out at my garage they had to replace it with a new battery. So apparently Mavis can sell bad batteries and place an onerous burden on the consumer and have us throw away our money. The manager said he's just telling me with the company policy is. I think it's a very bad company policy, and I will no longer be getting any service done at Mavis. read more

Despite adjusting air pressure on my front left tire twice , my tire gauge light kept going off. I feared a slow leak. I stopped by this Mavis store at about 6pm. Unfortunately I had to wait a bit as they were busy. However when they checked out my tire they could not find anything wrong. Today I had an appointment I made online for brakes. When I bought tires they recommended rear brakes. Since I use another garage for service I declined the service. Mavis on Rt 66 (near the Asbury Park traffic circle) restored my belief in customer service. Last Thursday my car's tire indicator light came on as I headed out to my doctor's appointment at Hope Tower. I checked my tires, they looked OK, but I was still concerned that there may be a slow leak. I pulled into Mavis, and David the attendant said that due to their workload it may take a couple of hours before they got to my car. A few minutes later as I was booking an Uber, David walked over and said that before he wrote up a work order, he could do a quick test to see if it was just low air pressure due to the cold or truly a leaky tire. Sure enough equal low pressure was in all 4 tires. He filled them with air and sent me on my way. When I asked "how much do I owe" for this service, David said, "There's no cost, you owe nothing. Enjoy your day." Why does this matter? It matters because David took 5 minutes of his time to save me hours. Exceptional customer service starts with having curiosity and a creative problem-solving mindset. David took a moment to think and came up with a simple remedy that saved me time and money. A bunch of LIARS - I called in to ask for a price on replacing a serpentine belt with a tensioner pulley they gave me a price of $500 just to do that meanwhile another qualified auto repair shop quoted me $300 to do an entire tune up on my car spark plugs coils and the belt and tensioner $300 for everything these people are corporate scum will never go here again one outrages price was enough for me to doubt the credibility of this place read more

My Jeep needed a new battery. I showed up with no appointment and they took good care of me. The car battery was boosted so that the car could be driven from the lot into the garage where a mechanic installed a new battery after cleaning all connections etc. He also took tire pressure at no charge. Went there at around 11:15 am to get a tire plugged. Was told I needed two new front tires because of tread wear and a rotation. Wasn't expecting to get all of it done but figured ok sure. Had warrantees on the tires, which were useless in this case and basically every other time I've needed a tire replaced. Waited four and a half hours while people who got there after I had arrived were helped. What I thought might be no more than $50 to replace wound up costing a little more than $430, AND Ed tried upselling me on top of that. No more Mavis for me. read more

Definitely not worth the wait and WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. They try to up-sale you on problems that you didn't bring your vehicle for. I just wanted 4 new tires, balanced and rotated. Cost $460. Fine! They said it will take 2 hours, but an hour and a half later, "Ed" calls me and says "the breaks, rotors and calipers on the rear are bad and just to do 1 caliper, it'll cost over $500 more. Let alone do both side breaks, rotors and calipers. It would've cost $1000 on top of what I just spent on just getting new tires. Definitely trying to hard to make money. read more

Customers be warned. Dishonest business practices here. They will schedule you and take a deposit for tires they do not have in stock and do not inform you of such until you arrive at their shop. Made an appointment online today and they even called me back to confirm the appointment and never mentioned that the tires I ordered were not there. To top it off the manager Brian and his assistant are very rude and incompetent at their jobs and sorely lacking in customer service skills. Incredibly, the assistant Ed said if I wasn't happy then I should speak to the main office. He dialed the phone for me and then walked away. I've never seen that kind of behavior in any store in my life. The manager Brian then came out and was completely unhelpful and told Ed to never let a customer speak to the head office and dared me to make a complaint and said make sure you get my name right. BRIAN. He then dared me to write this review so here it is. I have just contacted the Mavis head office. They apologized and said they will be investigating their employees behavior. It turns out the tires won't be arriving until next week. Had they said that when they called to confirm today's appointment, I would have been fine with that but it is clear to me they just want to get you in the shop and sell you something different. My steering wheel vibrated during braking. This prompted me to take my car to Mavis, Neptune. I learned I needed new front pads and Calipers. They installed them on 4/6/22, costing me over $700. Once again, I began having problems with the vibrating steering wheel while braking. Took it back on May 26, 2022, and they checked and said one of the calipers were bad. Replaced it. Car seemed fine. Recently noticed steering wheel vibration during braking AGAIN!! Also, there's been a lot of brake dust on my front hubcaps. I went back on 9/6/22, and was told since there's no Mechanic available, I can leave it and they'll get to it the next day. I'm ABSOLUTELY NOT leaving my car with them !! At this point, I prefer a refund, because I don't want them touching my car. I will be contacting Corporate and send them my receipts along with the receipt for the bad caliper at no charge. I'm sure the other Caliper is bad as well. I paid off, and cancelled the Mavis credit card I received that day. Oh an for the record, the first day, the front desk Dude asked me to write a review about my experience. Here ya go. This place is not even worthy of a one star. read more

On a Friday morning, I went in with one of those "cheap brake job" coupons they have online. I asked them to please put the truck on the lift and let me know if any additional work needed to be done and call me before they do anything. Friday passes, Saturday passes - no call. I finally call first thing Sunday morning and ask what's going on. They tell me the truck's on the lift and it cannot be driven out of the bay because of something extreme like "the brakes are so dangerously worn down, the calipers are seized, we cannot fit new pads in - you will absolutely die if you drive this truck away". Surprised, because I had replaced the rotors and calipers less than 2 years ago, I told them to put the wheels back on, drop the truck, and give me the keys when I come into the office. I would not be paying for anything and withholding the truck for any type of payment would result in the police being called. Thankfully, when I got into their office, the manager kept his mouth shut, gave me the keys, and I went on my way. I spent the next weekend replacing everything myself and low and behold, the "extra work" that needed to be done was bogus. read more

We offered to leave the car but they said they'd take care of us AND THEY DID. They put on two new tires ( at a great price) and had us on our way in only an hour. YES they worked overtime for us. NEPTUNE MAVIS IS A RIP OFF !!! I went to Mavis Tire in Neptune NJ. I told the gentleman at the counter that I had a slow leak in one tire. I further stated that I believe I picked up a nail, asking if they still did plugs and or patches. He responded yes, let us take a look... Approximately a hour later he called me to the counter, and stated it's all done. I was charged $103.00 to get 1 tire patched. TOTAL RIP OFF !!! This time last year, same scenario at Jersey City Mavis... The center charged me only $40.00, and I gladly gave the tech a $20 cash tip. I came home from vacation to a completely flat tire. I called Mavis as they are close to my home. The representative stated it would be $195 for a new tire. I said I would call back, but then he said he could give me $20 off and it would be $175 plus tax. I asked if that included everything, and he said yes, so I said ok, let's do it. I had my car towed to their location, and then proceeded to receive 3 to 4 calls from a gentleman stating the order for the tire was never placed, but he was working on it. He also advised the price had changed to $182.99 for the tire. I was annoyed but wasn't going to make a fuss and even though the calls were annoying, the gentleman sounded on top of things. The following day I go to pick up my car and I'm told the bill is $220. Dave who I believe is the manager stated there was an additional installation fee that was never mentioned. He also stated that I did not speak to the local store, but to a call center and that the fee breakdown was on the email I received from Mavis. I showed him my email and there was no pricing on it whatsoever. I feel like the pricing was misrepresented and I would have gone somewhere else had I known the full costs involved, but I also did not appreciate all of the excuses Dave made. He did not attempt to provide a coupon or any type of customer service when I complained and also told him I would most likely never use them again. Way to lose a customer over $25 bucks! Update: Received a call from a regional manager apologizing for the service, and he offered me a $100 voucher for a future visit. I normally do not complain or take the time to write reviews, but I do appreciate the quick response. I am a satisfied customer as long as there is no issue using the voucher when I need to. read more

They seem to be very busy and a touch surly (can't blame them based on the customers who are also a bit cranky) but they tell you when they can get you in and each time was accurate. Don't be fooled by the "discount" in the name. I needed all new tires for my Kia. Just a standard tire. I know tires are a little under 100 per tire being I've gotten new tires in the past from an sts for a similar price. however I left spending just under $600 on new tires. I wasn't expecting to spend that much. I also sat there for 2 1/2 hours when I was told I could come right in and get taken care of. I was not told it would take that long and would have rather left and came back. so needless to say I was very annoyed after sitting there that long to spend 600 dollars. read more
