Brought my 2020 Jeep Gladiator in for an alignment. Dropped it off the night before an 8 AM appointment--wasn't touched until late afternoon. I paid extra for a custom alignment and asked for 6° caster. Tech didn't understand and I was told "he doesn't like working on Jeeps." The real issue: they used a pipe wrench on my brand-new $1,200 aftermarket steering components--which adjust by hand--leaving deep gouges and scratches. I took great care during install to preserve their finish and that was completely ruined. When I got home, I checked the alignment myself. The caster was set to 22°, dangerously out of spec, and the tie rod and draglink ends were set opposite of parallel. Steering wheel wasn't even straight. I now have to pay another shop to fix their work. I have photo and video evidence of everything. Completely unprofessional. Avoid this location. read more

NEVER GO TO MAVIS -- They Ruined My Car and Don't Care Mavis completely ruined my 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan with a careless oil change -- they left the oil filter cover loose, causing severe engine damage. When confronted, they admitted the mistake but refused to take any responsibility or offer compensation. Instead, they gaslit me by blaming "pre-existing issues" and hid behind the vehicle's history to avoid paying for their screw-up. Corporate couldn't care less -- no apology, no rental car, nothing. My $300 tires (2) were not the correct ones quoted on the phone and they lasted a mere 4,921miles in 2.5 MONTHS. One completely went flat and the other is definitely on its way out. I called to ask if there's any type of warranty and they said no. Ll They get 1 star for helping me on that day in a pinch. I wouldn't recommend them otherwise if you value your time and money. On Saturday, I unexpectedly needed a new tire, as a result of a leak. As I was passing by Mavis to go to my daughters swim meet in Camden at I noticed my pressure was dropping dramatically and there was no way I was going to make it there by 11:30 when it starts. When I entered the store and gave my info to John and explained my situation, he let me know that there was about a 2 hr wait, which would have gotten me to the meet at about 1:15, and I would have missed everything. I had no choice, so I told them I'd wait. My daughter called to see what I was doing and I explained the situation. I told her I'd do my best to get there, but I couldn't promise anything. If by chance I wasn't there when the meet was over, come back on the bus and I'll meet her at the school. She began to get upset because it would be the first time that no one would be there to watch her swim. I calmed her down the best I could and when I hung up the phone, Mike was behind the counter and asked what sport she plays. We chatted for a minute about her swimming and he walked away. About 5 minutes later, they were pulling my vehicle in to replace the tire! I didn't know what to say, especially with a room full of people waiting. I wrote Mike and John a note, telling them that I could not thank them enough and that they did not have to do that. While paying for the service, and talking to Mike, he said something to me that made me cry when I got into my car and I have told numerous people about. He said, "I'm a dad. I never missed my kids events and I wasn't going to let you miss yours today. Tell her good luck!" I was out of there and on my way and made it about 5 minutes into the meet, still allowing me to see all of my daughters races. She was soo happy to see me and when I told her what Mike said all she could do was hug me! Thank you for making this happen Mike! These guys are amazing. Their customer service is outstanding! After scheduling an appointment for 2:00, my boyfriend called me and asked me to pick him up. I left a weekend in the Poconos with my girlfriends early so my boyfriend could get his tire replaced before work Monday. After driving three hours to make this appointment we showed up and they told us they couldn't help after all. After discussing my problem with a Pirelli OEM tire that was under warranty I was assured that they are a Pirelli dealer and would be able to take care of it (Pirelli pays the bill). I made an appointment and when I arrived I was informed by super non-helpful Chaz that they could only do it if they sold me the tire. I don't understand, as they would be getting paid by Pirelli for the tire and labor. Also, I had recently purchased what would now be my last four tires from them. I showed up at 0855 and had to wait an hour just to get started but that's not too bad. The bad part was 45 min after putting it on the alignment rack the worker came in and told me the price was now going up to $129.99 if I wanted them to finish it. Talk about extortion after waiting almost 2 hours and being halfway through the process. I don't negotiate after the fact when there are no circumstances to change it. They just decided they didn't know how to adjust that vehicle as quickly so wanted to charge me more for their lack of knowledge/skill. Jeff behind the counter is a nice guy. However the technician who worked on my car did not pay any attention to detail. When picking up my car I had to inquired about where my center cap was. The tech went into the shop and found it on the ground. Two days later I realized that my spare tire was not given back to me so I had to make a second trip to get it. Also discovered that my silver stem caps were not put back on and instead replaced with cheap black plastic ones. To top it off I didn't even get a new oil change sticker on the windshield. But in a pinch and wanting to attend to my tire as my low tire pressure light came on. Service manager was friendly and courteous. My vehicle was attended to within 15 minutes of my "walk-in". The guys at this place were SO helpful and super nice. Customer service here is really great. I definitely will go back for my oil changes. I think his name was Travis and he was super friendly and helpful. When there was a problem with my tires he walked me over to show me the problem and explained what he thought I should do. He didn't try to get me to buy new tires but gave me his honest opinion on just to be cautious and to inform me of what could happen. I have been to other STSs and they just rip you off so I was really happy with this experience. When other customers came in he was really helpful and listened to them too. I had made an appointment in the middle of the week for 8 am Saturday morning. I get there at 8 am and they took two people before me who had brought their cars back for mistakes Mavis employees made on their vehicles. There were two technicians in the bay and three people hanging out inside the office area and out front smoking. Ridiculous. They were more worried about fixing the problems they had caused other customers instead of sticking to the appointment schedule. I wouldn't take my bicycle to this location. I wish it was possible to give negative stars! These people are slimy, sneaky, immature and downright awful. My husband took his car there in November for an oil change. A simple oil change! Basically they overheated his engine, causing his cylinder head to crack and it cost him close to $4000 to get it fixed! Mavis denied all responsibility, even though when we took it to another mechanic they clearly noticed that Mavis was at fault in the first place. Mavis has refused to provide their insurance information so he can file a claim- we just want to have a non-biased party review the information and see who is at fault. They've also hung up on him multiple times when he's called to get said insurance information as well as keeping him on hold (for up to thirty minutes!) and hanging up on him MULTIPLE TIMES! $4000 probably means nothing to a company like this- but to a "normal" (and I use that term loosely, lol), newly married couple, it's a bigger deal. Businesses need to know that treatment like this is not okay and just ignoring paying customers will NOT make the problem go away! Not only that, it's just extremely rude to treat paying customers like this- seriously??? You can't return a phone call??? read more

I came here today to get my wheels mounted and balanced my appointment was at 4 and took about 30 minutes for my car to even get in the shop. My car was perfectly fine when I got here & after an hour I finally got my car back and the mechanic slammed my keys on the counter and said "there's definitely front end problems from some rocking" which I didn't pay any attention to because I figured he was talking about my bumper which isn't in the best cosmetic condition. When I got back into my car I realized the front driver side wheel was making a grinding sound and I checked it & somehow my wheel is now grinding on my new struts. I'm not going back here with my car and I'm calling corporate as well. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. We were loyal customers for years at this location. We take good care of our vehicles and are always up to date on service. Our SUV had a check engine light on and we took it in to be checked and have some other repairs done. We were told the ECU needed to be replaced and it would take a few days. We had the other repair work done and said we'd be back for the ECU as we had to make arrangements to rent another vehicle. Brought SUV in for ECU a few days later. We picked it up a week later, paid $1000++, and less than a mile done the road,the check engine light came back on. Brought SUV back, they checked it out and said they needed to contact the "guy who reflashes" the ECU's. It took MONTHS for them to contact this guy. I called, stopped in on a weekly basis. Finally, they get a hold of the "guy who reflashes" and pick a day for me to bring my SUV back again. They check it out with "the guy" and determine the ECU is defective. Ok, I get it, it happens sometimes. But then they tell me, the company doesn't make the part anymore. They want me to.leave SUV, they will remove ECU, ship it to company and they will rebuild it, and then ship it back. I'm told I will need to leave the vehicle for possibly 3 weeks. WHAT?! I ask them to arrange a rental car. Nope.Mavis says I have to pay for the rental. Then the service person says he'll talk to his boss about possibly helping pay for rental. This talking to the boss, who is never around, takes a few weeks. More phone calls and stopping in to see what they are going to do and also requesting a refund. Finally the last time I stop in, the 'boss' is there and I ask to speak to him. He tells me they've done everything they can but since I won't leave the vehicle, there's nothing they can do. SERIOUSLY?! I'm happy to leave vehicle but why do I need to.pay for rental car for how many weeks. Mavis finally agreed to give me store credit. I just wanted my vehicle fixed and fixed right, what am I going to do with a store credit? The corporate office was zero help during this whole ordeal. I'd call, they would take info and then when I would call for follow up, they said claim was closed. Apparently corporate called the store and store told them it was resolved. I filed multiple claims and wrote them a letter and they kept closing them because the local store said it was resolved. We were happy with Mavis until this happened. We will drive out of our way to get our vehicles serviced rather than go to Mavis again. read more

Terrible... I called about an hour and a half before closing time because I discovered a screw in my tire. The guy on the phone seemed great and said now would be a perfect time to bring it in. It took me 20 minute to get there and when I arrived the guy at the desk had no clue I was coming, seemed annoyed that I was there and asked if I could come back tomorrow because he had 8 tire to install with the two guys working before they closed. So if they couldn't handle patching one tire with their other workload, why did they have me waste my time driving out there. Made a reservation online with Mavis of Mt Holly, NJ for a (4) tire purchase and installation. Got a call from them the day of the reservation, said that the (1) tire wouldn't be in till the next day. I said whooaa wait a minute, this should be a 4 tire installation. They said that the online order was for 1 tire plus installation. I said nope, needs to be 4 match set of tires. They said that they would change the order to show 4 and then would call me the next day after 1 pm to confirm the now 4 tire order has arrived and to reschedule an appointment. Well, it's been 1 week today and I still have not heard back from Mavis of Mt Holly! I have an appointment with PepPoys for the same tires later this afternoon. $1000 dollars worth of tires and service going to a competitor, maybe they should have called the potential customer back!! read more

I stopped in to the Mt Holly, NJ location around 6:20 on 06/02, not realizing they were closed. A gentleman came to see what he could help me with. I explained I needed a fuse changed as my radio quit working. I explained it was deep under the dash. He said they were closed but would take a look anyways. He checked the fuse and turned out to be fine. I was so grateful for him helping me out even if he wasnt able to help me fully. I offered to pay him for his help as it eliminated the fuse meaning it wasnt a simple fix. He refused. Most people would not have even checked it out, especially after they were closed and told me to make an appointment. Well when I started the car to leave, my radio came on. I'm not sure if maybe the fuse was loose and him checking it made it work but I am grateful for his help. I wish I would have gotten his name though. Great customer service! My 20-year-old daughter took her car here to have a repair done. A couple days later, the bumper fell off the car. The managers at Mavis said parts were missing and they had to use cables to hold the bumper in place. This is a total lie. My husband put the cable on to hold it in place until Mavis could replace the parts they forgot to reattached during the repair. My daughter went back three times and each time got the run around: They needed to take pics of the area on her car; needed a manager; needed another manager. They took advantage of her being a young woman, hoping I guess that she'd drop it. Well, it now costs her $100+ for replacements of the pieces they threw away and lied about. Money she does not have. Mavis only agreed to replace it without a labor fee; however, she had to buy the part. Forget it. We are buying the part and replacing it ourselves with a mechanic friend-- who inspected the car and assured us all was attached when the car was recently purchased. We do not trust them with any vehicle again. They also claimed the car had a bunch of other "damage under there" when they had it on the lift. Another mechanic said this is a totally false claim. Maybe ok for tire's, but what used to be a good service center for all repairs isn't anymore. Spent $3,000 on repairing my daughter's car and after all that, took it to AAA service to have them inspect and they said half the repairs weren't done or were done with inferior parts. Took it to a third shop for another opinion after Mavis Corporate said we had to. They gave me a list for Mavis to RE-fix and when that was finally done, they left all the check engine warning lights on so we took it back to the third shop and spent $1,300 more to have them fix everything correctly. read more

I've been going to Mavis (previously STS) for more than a decade. I have NEVER gotten better service anywhere. Case in point today, Tuesday, 5/7. 5 miles from home my car started making a terrible racket and something underneath was clattering. I was literally across the street from the dealer (starts with an I, ends with an I....three guesses), so checked if they could help me out. "Sorry; you have to make an appointment and we're booked until NEXT WEEK." Yeah. So, self-diagnosing it as a muffler issue I drove straight to Mavis...no appointment. Guys at the front desk were super nice, and Walt (who is never allowed to retire until I give up the ghost or my license), got right on it. Diagnosed the problem, had the part brought over, I was in and out in an hour...and I'm pretty sure it cost me less than it would have at Infiniti. Oops! Now you know who the other guys were.
