It was that time of year, New York state inspection time! Well for me it was that time of year at least! I knew I was going to need four new tires so I spent a few hours checking out all the local tire places, checking out their inventory, reviewing tires and making some decisions. I made an online appointment for Mavis because I liked a tire that they had in stock quality and price wise. When I showed up I found a completely full parking lot with literally nowhere to park. I parked right in front of the entrance and went in to check in for my appointment. I had indicated when I made the appointment that I would be staying while they did the work. The first disappointment came when the guy behind the counter told me that I would be there for 6 to 8 hours which is just ridiculous. Why do you have an online reservation system with this option to wait for your vehicle if it's going to take 8 hours? Next I told him the tire I wanted. He went out and took a look at my truck and also probably noticed that it was the last day of the month before my inspection was up. Then he just so happened to not actually have any of those tires in stock and only had a tire that cost almost twice as much money. Wow what a shocker! I don't play these games and neither should you. I went right down the road to pep boys who had my number two tire listed as in stock and guess what? They actually had what they said they had! When your car is done, they say "Mav a nice day!" This is the only Mavis in the Rochester area I've ever actually been to. It was when I had a little tire problem up (as opposed to a Tyra problem which happens when I visit Banks), by the beaches of Lake Ontario about a year ago. They hooked me up pretty decently, although it wasn't the cheapest by any means, and if I'd been in Buffalo I could have gotten it for significantly less. read more

I called and made an appointment for 12 pm at around 5pm the previous day I got told it would be 2 hours to mount my winter tires drove by an hour and a half later and my car hasn't been touched called at around 2:30 got told it wasn't done and that they couldn't give me a time I told them I need to be at work by 6 and he said ok it will be done by then. I've gone to this location a few times with good results. However, this last time has turned me off them completely. I called on Friday to get a quote for work. I was quoted $180, which I agreed to. I dropped my car off for Service the following Monday. Around 9 am I get a call asking what needed to be done (I gave all that information on Friday and again when I dropped it off.) The person I talked to asked what I had been quoted, to which I replied $180. He proceeds to tell me that that is wrong, that the amount was going to be $260. I said absolutely not. Take it off the lift I'll pick it up. He then told me he could get it down to $210 if they didn't do the caliper part of the job ( I was getting brakes done). I said absolutely not, take it off the lift and I'll pick it up. Now, let me be clear, I was getting brakes done, I had ALL the parts. Pads, rotors, new clips, grease. EVERYTHING. All I needed was labor. So you're telling me you charge $130/hr for labor? I have a jeep wrangler, the brakes aren't hard. I'd do them myself but I don't have the tools or the place to do it. Long story longer, I'll never do business with Mavis again. And I'll make sure to let all my friends and family know they should stay away as well. read more

My muffler started making some crazy noise like the Catalytic converter had split. So to say the list I had saved to cash just in case. I'm thinking $1200 easy . Send the guy looking for screw after he had it on the lift. When he brought it down and pulled it up front I was shocked. I asked what he found or what had happened . It was almost great until it wasn't. I dropped my car off around 10am for a simple swap with another set the was already on wheels. My car was not ready until 2 pm which was an inconvenience but still forgivable. What is NOT forgivable is that the boost meter on my car was near maxed out! There was absolutely zero reason for my car to be driven outside of the parking lot and definitely not to be driven hard like that! I've had multiple "excellent" experiences between this location and the one in Webster. Today exceeded them all. I had gotten gas across the street and as I started my car up, my battery finally decided it had enough. I had my 7 year old son with me and today was my first day of feeling human again after getting through the flu. (They didn't know the flu part) I called and asked if they would come over and replace the battery...We walked across the street and two of their employees left to replace the battery while telling us to stay put so my son didn't have to cross the streets again. They didn't have to say yes to my request and could have easily told me to have it towed over. This wasn't one person, but a crew of employees that wanted to go above and beyond. I would be careful their customer service is terrible, if that's a sign of the type of work they do, I would run away! I tried calling several times to get a simple question answered and was disconnected then the phone was put on the desk and ignored by the manager named "Chuck". All I needed to know was what types of payment they would except. The staff was clueless and untrained if I were working in the corporate office, I would think they need a serious overhaul since the management is just as bad as the desk clerk. If you're looking for excellent service and work I would suggest the following.. Called a week in advance and ordered 4 new tires for my truck. Was given a quote for the tires, labor, fees. When I arrived the day of the appointment, they would not honor the quote. Originally wanted almost $250 more. After realizing that they were trying to sell me a warranty, the price dropped to almost $100 MORE than the quote. I was moved aside and placed at the end of a long line of people. Guy (who claimed to be a manager) was rude and condescending in his tone, asked me if I was good with math. I used to have no problems with taking my car in there, lately the staff doesnt seem to know what they are doing, I needed a small bulb changed in my vehicle the 1st gentlemen told me they werent allowed to do that because they would need to take the bumper off, i kindly explained no you dont, its a little light bulb and you dont have to do all of that, he said well we would have to check to make sure, now not only have they done it there before, but how in the hell are you going to tell me, thats what you have to do when Ive had the car 6 years and never has the bumper had to come off to install this bulb. again they have changed it there before. so then i made an appt for an inspection and informed them that the bulbs were out and I had the replacement bulbs with me, dude says: um we can do they inspection but we cant replace the bulbs because that would be a full service call. NOW THAT MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL! All my life of having a vehicle whenever you have an inspection and something is wrong, they wont pass it unless its fixed, in which they charge you and they fix it right? Its fair to assume that some extra education is needed. I will never go to this mavis again. If my car broke down in front of there, I would rather push it to the next auto shop than to take it to these people. Sad because they used to have good service read more

After reading some terrible reviews on other different locations of Mavis Tire I went with these guys and they deserve four stars. Bought four tires they had me out in about an hour and put the spare back on the truck. Why are they missing star 5? Name brand tires true. But the depth of tread brand new on these tires was 10/32nds Dealership tires are much more expensive true; but after doing some testing on three brands of tires there depths of tread were 12/32nds and 13/32nds. Also the amount of Kevlar is higher. This is the way I look at it. I used to buy gas grills cheap every two years.This last year I bought a real good Weber that will last much longer cause I had the money. The lease on my truck is up next spring. If I decide to keep it I may buy better tires in the future if not then I'm not out that much tire wise. Lastly I had to buy four tires because I ripped the tread on one. So buy one? Ya cant. If you have an anti-slip four wheel drive system, all the tires must have the same wear. Tire company's must have screamed from the mountains "hell yeah" read more

Scheduled an appointment for 2/22/18 @ 4:00. Arrived at 4:00 to be told they were running late. Advised me to come back at 5:00. Came back at 5:00 and was told I'd have to wait 40 minuets before they could rotate my tires. Now I'm looking at almost 6:00 for my 4:00 appointment. I advised the employee that I had a 4:00 appointment and he stated that in the car world appointments don't mean that much. I left and will not be returning anytime soon. read more

I had an quote for a exhaust system on my wife's 2010 equinox I was told almost $1200.00 I went to get it done I was there at 8:00 am they didn't start work on it till 9:30 but before they did the work I asked them to show me what they were replacing with what they were replacing I told them it seems awful high I was told I will see what they could do he came back and told me how about $756.00 I told them ok 3 1/2 hours I left the store it just seems funny it went from $1200.00 to $756.00 I won't go back it seems a little shifty to me read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Horrible place for business . They broke the key for the locking lug nuts and refused to help. They removed the new tires and placed our old ones back on , not to mention the manager had them close the bay doors on my husband . We called the cops and he told us to not to do business with such a bad company . Absolutely awful. They may have cheap tires but it's not worth it when you have people treat you like garbage. Once again I got stellar service. Inspection, brakes and rotors all around, tie rod end and allignment for hafl of what I was expecting.

Great pricing and great availability wonderful to work with called Thursday at 4 pm had an appointment for 8 am on Friday !! Went to my appointment this morning at 8 am getting home at 11am three hours of wasted time. I will walk you through my ordeal this morning. I was told by Joe one of the service managers that both of my controls arms needed to be replaced on my wife's 2008 toyota solara in order for them to do the alignment at a cost of 250 each. I inspected each one and they had normal wear but no visible cracks. I was quoted a total of $647 for the entire job. I then said let me check with my wife. I then told Joe we could not afford $647. He then asked what my budget was. I told him $200. He then immediately offered me a deal at $500 for the complete job saying he would explain the discount to his boss. I again asked if I needed the control arms replaced I order for the alignment to be done. joe said yes. I then decided to just have the tires swapped for the snow tires. The car was backed out of the service bay. When I went to pay for the tire service there seemed to be conversations going on with the service techs and the managers. A new manager named Zach told me the car needed to be driven into another bay as they had not done the alignment. I then informed Zach that I was informed by Joe the other manager that the alignment could not be done without replacing both control arms. Needless to say the alignment was done without the control arms being replaced. I am totally disgusted with the business practices at this location. While waiting 3 hours to get my car fixed I witnessed a lot of whispering between managers behind the counter. At one point I overheard the two managers mention that work on another car would have to be done for a specific price simply because one of the managers Joe had already agreed to a lower price. Stay away from this location at all costs or get ready to pay the price read more

I got my tires rotated at Cole Muffler for free. Coupons for free tire rotations are mailed regularly to folks in the Rochester area for this place. The bad part of this great service, of course, was hearing the upsell part of this equation. My brakes appear to be wearing out and I should consider purchasing new tires. Maybe that's true or maybe it's not but I'm not in the mood to be spending extra cash as I'm trading my vehicle in soon anyhow. read more

I didn't just have a bad experience and felt they deserved 1 star, I gave them a couple tries to fix the problems and each time they failed. Where do I begin .... when they put on my tires they destroyed my tire pressure sensors. Had to pay for new ones that worked fine before they laid their hands on them. After buying them no one could seem to code them to the car and it was my problem. Woke up the next morning my tire was flat, threw on a spare drive back only to have them reseal the tire. Ok I'm not happy but all seems fine. The next morning flat again !!! This time I went to my mechanic, only for them to tell me the idiots there ground my rim to install the new sensor ( which is normal ) they did it so bad they destroyed my rim. Had to buy a new rim and when I went back they wanted nothing to do with it. I wanted cheap tires for a car I was going to get rid of, what I got is a huge burden that costed my twice as much as if I would of went to Dunn tire ! And trust me if you ask around before going that place does not have a good rep . I should have listened but Dunn tire you got your customer back. read more

I think you need to be careful with yelp. Older reviews don't always indicate the current status of a business or its team. Here in 2018 I had an unexpected requirement for brakes and struts on my BMW. Most places see an expensive foreign car and see dollar signs. Mine is an 08 and I'm not a wealthy person, i just like the brand and the way they drive. They get that, they are car guys as well. The team helped find a better priced solution to get me rolling again at a reasonable price. I spoke at length directly with Canan the asst manager, Brian the mechanic and the shop Manager. They talked me through options. When my custom brakes turned into a triple sized bill the Asst Manager Canan found a suitable less costly solution and got me back on the road. An interesting touch was after DAYS in the shop they all took time to talk about the car, and offer assistance if I had any questions in the future and make sure i was satisfied. That's worth the price to me, I feel like I have a place to get answers when I need it, even when there isn't a bill attached. read more

I have been calling everywhere to get an inspection for my car. I finally got a hold of Mavis discount tire on E. Ridge rd and they made me an appointment for Thursday after work since i work until 5pm everyday.The guy i spoke to told me we can get you in on Thursday because we are open until 8 pm. I was happy I finally made an appointment even if I had to wait a few days. They sent me an email conformation for my reference. When I I got there I called to know approximately how long the appointment will be and when the STORE MANAGER rudely answered the phone he said they had no time to do my car that day to come back some other time. I was very upset because I even got there a little earlier than what he told me and still nothing. He showed no sympathy. He was just rude and didn't care. Every one that answers the phone and schedules there should be retrained because they obviously don't know what they are doing. Also, i think the manager i spoke to yesterday needs a training on customer service. My advice for you all is to go else where. read more
