Careful if you have young student kids down in the universities there, they will use coercive sales to take advantage of them. Simple nail in tire, they require we buy 2 new tires or leave with nail in tire.The advisor Mike tells me that it fails NY state inspection. I am a NY state inspector and 2 mm is the minimum pass, not fail. Then he tells me, well he is not a NYS inspector and they do not have one there. Manager Devon gets on phone apologizes for the crazy times. He insists as well we buy the 2 tires or leave without patching tire. My daughter picks up car and they will not give any invoice, once again the law states if they take possession of the vehicle, and are a registered repair shop they must give the consumer an invoice stating what they recommended or repaired. I call and they tell me that because they did not charge for the tire inspection, although they did put vehicle on lift, they do not have to give us an invoice. Just completely shady. They will give me a copy if i drive down 300 miles after I point out it is unlawful. Why give something only to me? I didn't bring the car in or sign anything. It was my daughter. These are things you see on 60 minutes. The hidden camera mystery shop vehicle. I am the wrong person, I been in the auto business 38 yrs, this is all I know. I seen these tactics before, if someone will not give you anything in writing that is always a red flag. When they use "It will not pass NYS inspection and is unsafe to drive". $54 for a conventional oil change is not worth it. However, the true reason I am leaving this review is because they placed the wrong oil type in my car as shown in the receipt. Nissan altima engine specification requires 5W30 oil but they used 5W20 oil. Please drive down the block to Mobil gas station and get an oil change for $25, they'll put the correct oil type as well. And if you need a new tire, they're available at walmart for $70-90 and will place it on for you for $15; not whatever price this place is charging. read more

On Sunday July 7th 2024 went to this location for a tire rotation, upon waiting the manager MJ stated I needed something else . I told him @ a later time. At this point he had audacity to ask me if it was a financial issue. I found this very offensive and insulting. As a mix female. There were two other male customers before my self different ethnicity that needed extra work to be done and they declined he didn't ask them if it was a financial situation.I will never do service with this location store #41. Had my truck brought in by tow. When I picked it up, the driver door handle was broken. They told me they didn't do it, and "it must have been dropped off that way. Maybe the tow truck driver did it". However, I was with the car when it was put in to the tow and left. Handle has been fine the entire time I owned the car. Also, the technician said "I open the car from the inside handle". How is that possible when the window is closed??? Must be a magician I guess. I used to work for mavis. If a car came in like that, we made a note on the work order and usually let the owner know something important was wrong. I will NEVER use this location again. That's what happens when you have tire coverage and the job is free. The company doesn't care bc they are pissed about having to do a free job. Went in for air pressure sensor was told my 2 rear 6 month old tires needed replacing and they drove a rusty mail into my sidewall. I'm now down the road at the place I got the original tires buying a new tire. I just hung up with customer service, I'm filing a claim don't go there. mavis and Centereach New York change my oil on my vehicle that's only eight months old they poured oil all the way down my engine all over my alternator so after a couple days my alternator stopped working. My car got stuck in the middle of the road had it towed to the dealership and the dealership wouldn't guarantee the warranty because Mavis put oil all over my alternator and now it cost me $1500 to get fixed Mavis I called the Home Office and the district office and they won't reimburse me the money that their workers failed to do the right thing negligence on their workers and Mavis is not a good company to bring your vehicle to unless you want to pay money out for all the damages that they do no one is certified in any of their stores to know what they're doing . read more

Immediately notified manager who minimized my claim before reviewing cameras stating "I know this didn't happen here". How can she say that when she hasn't reviewed the cameras yet? First of all Mavis as a Corporation needs oversite, I scheduled an appointment for an Inspection at Mavis in East Stroudsburg PA because I own a home there and in NY. My appointment was for 10 am Saturday, I dropped the car off Friday evening, Saturday at 4:20pm I receive call from Mavis asking for Insurance Card as they couldn't place sticker without it,I had copy on my phone, they would not accept email needed to see in person, I hop in my car and drive 20 minutes to bring as they close at 5, I arrive and guy at desk was provided Insurance card, he looks and says " We'll, the Inspector left for day" I'm like what, someone just called asking for card, he says "Well it wasn't me I don't know. Next appointment we have Is Tuesday Morning" I'm like are you for real why the heck didn't anyone say that and why did you wait to call me at 420 if the Inspector left at 4. Needless to say I will NEVER consider this business for anything. Mavis in centereach is the best place around to go not only for tires but other work that your car may need . They do free diagnosis on your car I been going here for years I can't remember how many . I have gotten work done with them many times , brakes , tires , alignment etc I recently got work done on 2 sets of rims Wife's n I , and mine are custom painted and not a scratch on the rims ! Now I have my regular mechanic and if he is not available I always go to them honestly they always do an excellent job The guys there are pretty friendly Joe , Joey that worked on my rims and Patrick the manager are great guys that work hard every day . They also have a couple guys that been there for a long time and know what they are doing that's why I trust them at mavis in centereach. If you don't have a mechanic and need something done and don't know we're to take your car go to them you won't be disappointed, prices are reasonable . Great customer service from John and Alex! Today was The day after horrible blizzard. I needed to venture out and due to all the snow in the streets I didn't realized I had a flat tire until I got the main roads without snow. I pulled into the nearest garage and they said they were closing in 15 minutes and couldn't help me. I called Mavis, John said that they too were closing in 15 minutes but could definitely squeeze me in. When I got there John and Alex where very kind and took my car in even though they had other cars they were working on and they were about to close. I had scheduled an appointment online a few days in advance for an oil change and a state inspection for 5:00 PM for after I get done with work. Get to there earlier and go to tell them I'm here for my appointment to be told that their state inspector left for the day... how would you let your inspector leave if there was a SCHEDULED state inspection appointment? This place sucks. They advertise a very good price on the website and then when you arrive the MANAGER tells you oh all the websites add $24+ per tire when you come to a physical location. He even pulled up the website (mavis' own site) and when I showed him the tires I wanted and the price he made it clear that was not going to happen. I told him they had lost a customer for life and that I would share my poor experience with anyone that would listen. As I left I notice City Tire, right across the street. I gave them a call and priced the same tires about $30 cheaper per tire mounted and balanced. I went right to City Tire instead and they were great. I recently moved to the area and was having some car problems. I came from queens Ny and didn't want to drive there plus my car was bad so I took it to Mavis. I gave them a chance and they did horrible. First off, I brought it there and they said it was the Break booster. Changed me a lot but I took out a credit card thru them. Got the car back the next day and it seemed still weird but I thought maybe it needed some more miles to drive. I took it back the next day and they said that since they fixed the Break booster that it blew the Master Cylinder. Ummm ok so why is it my problem? Didn't you know that would happen before you did it or u should fix it since what you did broke it!! So now another charge. Took it on a Tuesday and was told I would get it back same day then get a call saying that they piece didn't make the truck and it won't be ready for the following day. Ummm ok. Anyway, picked up the car. now total - paid over $900 but if it was fixed then I would have been happy but guess what? NOT FIXED AGAIN! My wife with my one year old son driving the car on the highway a day after we got it back from Mavis and it stalled on the highway! My wife and son could have got really hurt. My wife called me at work in the city and I couldn't come right then. She called AAA and I'm glad they towed her home. Here's where it really pissed me off and I will never go back there, I called Mavis and said I had my car there and it stalled on the highway with my wife and one year old son in it and this idiot says " well it doesn't sound like a Break problem" are you serious?!? Not I'm sorry and I hope your wife and son are safe. I said well my car was fine before I brought it to you and he just said to bring it and I said Monday morning and we can check. So yea, bring it by so you can charge me again? I'm not being fooled again. So I decided to call my mechanic in Queens and he said bring it by and I had AAA tow me to his shop on Monday morning. Now if they were a good business shop then they would have called me to see how the car is and why I didn't bring it by but nope. No call. No follow up or anything. They don't care. I chose this place for the fact that I needed both new tires as well as a state inspection, so I loved that I was able to kill two birds with one stone and not have to make two appointments at two separate places. I also LOVED that they are open on Sundays, which is beyond rare. That alone will probably keep me coming back. I was able to make an appointment online which was extremely convenient and had the option of either dropping my car off or waiting, which I chose to drop off. However I did see a small seating area inside for those whom decided to wait. The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly upon arrival. I don't have any complaints regarding service, though I deducted one star because I had presented a coupon prior to service for $5 off an inspection and I noticed after leaving that my receipt didn't mention this deduction anywhere so I'm uncertain as to whether it was discounted or not. Performed unnecessary work. I told them I needed a Bering . They called me two hours later and said it wasn't the Bering but rotors and other brake parts. I said ok do the work. When I picked up the vehicle It had the same problem when I brought it in. They didn't even have the brains to test drive it. I brought it back and they put in a Hub Bering. They charged me almost $700 for work that I didn't need. Oh they said they gave me a discount on the Bering. So it only cost me a total of over $900. They send you a survey after your visit so I stated what had happened- never heard from them again. Now they will never get my business again. read more

Steve and Larry went over things that failed and things that need to be fixed, but would not fail the inspection. One of our vehicles is 13 years old with its original suspension, this was pointed out to be replaced, only the front.
