Rema and her family are truly the best people I've worked with. When I was initially looking for a seamstress to do my wedding dress alterations the shop I purchased from gave me a list. I was really struggling with who to go to and a friend recommended Maurice Tailors as she had a great experience with her daughter's wedding dress. Let me tell you it was the best decision I ever made. I brought my dress in and I was worried because it looked like it had been ordered too short. Rema was honest and patient with me as we navigated towards a solution. She strives for perfection and she absolutely delivers. I was so worried because my dress had a lot of beading. I never felt more beautiful than when I put the dress on post-alterations. She was so quick and so detail oriented it brought so much comfort. She treated me and my family like her own and every time I walked into their shop I felt so relaxed knowing my dress was in the best possible hands. From the alterations, to the steaming, to the final pickup and to the boxing/preservation, they made the process so easy. My husband isn't super into being 'online.' He has no social media and doesn't ever write product reviews or really any other type of reviews. But recently he asked me to write a review for Maurice Tailors because he was so happy with their services. He (in typical husband fashion) waited until the last minute to buy a new suit for a wedding. My husband bought the suit on a Friday, the wedding was just one week away on the following Friday. We knew that 'off the rack' wouldn't fit him properly (he's kind of short, but he's super strong so he's got broad shoulders and big legs). We bought the suit at the mall and then went straight to Maurice's. Rema (adorable and kind woman who works there) was trying to explain to him that he needed more than just the pants shortened. Hubby admittedly gained some weight the past couple of years, and he thought that a 'big and boxy' look would hide that fact. She was trying so hard to (nicely) convey that a fitted look would be more flattering, without outright saying: 'As is, this makes you look even bigger!' She looked to me and I finally told him that he needed some waist definition because it'd make him look skinnier. He finally agreed to let her make the suggested alterations, and of course when the suit was all pinned up he looked like an absolute stud. My husband appreciated Rema's honesty and expertise, and he really appreciated that Maurice's was able to alter the suit in such a short amount of time. As said: we dropped it off on a Friday, and picked it up the following Thursday (just less than a week later). I will always use Maurice Tailors for all future services. They are phenomenal. I ordered a custom-fit long gown online as a mother-of-the-bride dress. It literally came in 2-3 sizes too big for me. I was in a panic since the wedding was less than a month away. Many people recommended Rema (owner of Maurice Tailors). She was phenomenal. The gown had to be taken in 2" on each side, and raised 2" at the top of the shoulders. You would never know it had been altered. The workmanship was perfect and it was done quickly. I was introduced to Maurice tailors by a custom wedding dress company. They needed me to get measurements from a tailor to make my dress properly. I went to Maurice Tailors and Maurice was the one who did my measurements. He said to me 'I did this for a girl before and I must have done too good of a job because she never came back to my for alterations.' well turns out, Maurice did not take my measurements accurately and my dress was made far too large. The way I am positive this happened is that my dress was even too long. It's not like I got any shorter in the 6 month period between when I was measured and got my dress... I decided to give this place a shot on altering a dress for me before I brought my wedding dress there and I'm so glad I did, because they did a terrible job and charged me sooooo much money. I ended up extremely uncomfortable when I had to wear this dress, with the bodice cutting into my armpit all night. And this was done when Rema and a few other guys were there and Maurice was suddenly not around. I ended up finding someone else to alter my dress and they charged me less to make tons of alterations to a WEDDING DRESS then I paid for the dress I brought in to give them another shot. I don't like having to leave a bad review for a small biz, but I had a bad quality issue with the alterations on my dress and I was treated poorly when I needed them to fix the quality issue that was 100% their fault. I will explain my bad experience below, but here were a few other cons we dealt with: -my sister(the bride) had her the bustle come undone multiple times throughout the evening with the hook and eye portions. Me, multiple bridesmaids, and her wedding coordinator(who is absolute pro and has a ton of experience) all tried to fix it -During our first 2 appointments, Rema was nice to us personally, but she talked badly about all her other customers to us during both appointments; which I always thought was very unprofessional and weird considering we didn't know her well -they have a credit card machine, but Rema only allowed my sister(the bride) to pay a few hundred dollars on her card and made her pay the few hundred rest in cash. This seems suspicious for tax purposes? I can't think of any other reason for forcing half of a bill in cash. And then anyways, here's my own problem of what I dealt with... Bra cups were sewn into my bridesmaid dress because my dress fit very loose on the chest, as I have a small chest. A few days BEFORE my sister's wedding, I noticed that a section of the stitching Rema did for one of the cups was already detached, so nearly half the cup was hanging off. I called her to let her know and brought it in the following morning. Having this quality issue happen while paying $145 which was supposedly after a 10% discount(they hand write a receipt so you don't know what their actual set pricing is) was already disappointing; but oh well mistakes happen. However, what was more upsetting is what was to follow. I walked in with the dress and all Rema said to me is "Are the tags still on the dress?" Mind you, she knows the wedding is not till Friday(and this was Tuesday) and she still actually had my sister's bridal dress right in her shop and knows who we both are. There was no apology given for her quality issue; just an accusation that I was being dishonest and already wore the dress. Yes all the tags were obviously still on. Next, she accused it of being my fault once again by saying that "it was probably from me pulling/tugging the dress to get it on". Um no, the dress fits very loose on my chest; hence why the pads were sewn in AND this happened before I even wore it yet. And regardless, even if a dress did fit someone nice and snug; stitching should be done securely enough that things don't come apart. I felt like I was on the stand being accused for a crime; when it was 100% her mistake and a simple apology would have been sufficient. Their prices are NOT cheap compared to other quality tailors, which is totally fine; but you should stand behind your work and those prices. Then she just stopped talking to me and walked away to the back with the dress(still no apology given after I had to defend myself), and I had to basically communicate with the owner who was standing right next to her during this all. Honestly, more poor customer service that the owner didn't even apologize on her behalf either since he was standing right there. When she was done she said "sorry here you go." but was unfriendly and wasn't sincere. Between me and my sister; we have given her over $700 combined, and to be treated poorly is very disappointing. We had many great vendors for her wedding across the board but this was not one of them and I cannot recommend a business who doesn't value their customers. read more

I found my new go-to tailor in Buffalo. I was able to make an appointment for a dress fitting the same day, which took about 10 minutes, and she had my alterations done the same week. I couldn't believe how fast she was able to finish it since it seems like they have a lot of business. At my first try-on, I decided that I wanted a few more adjustments and Rema was more than happy to do that for me. She even asked if I wanted to come back in about a half hour to retrieve the dress. I cannot say enough about Rema as not only as a tailor, but also as a person. I go to Rema a lot for my alterations, being 5ft 2in, and I always leave confident and happy. But she really outdid herself for my wedding. It was a week before my wedding, and I took my rehersal jumpsuit to her to get hemmed up. As we got talking, I mentioned how not excited I was for my wedding day because the seamstress at Bliss Bridal botched my dress. I refuse to leave bad reviews, but this seamstress took my love I had for my dress and tore it to pieces. From the moment I bought the dress to my last alteration, I lost 25 pounds. Bliss Bridal altered my dress to the point where my chest fit terribly and my bottom half looked like I was wearing a diaper. Rema persistently told me to go get my dress, and she would do her best to fix whatever she could in the time we had left.
