    Gratuity charge at escape room.
    Joe E.

Overall a fun time with our group. We were able to solve the room in 38 minutes with out any clues or help. I was disappointed that there was an added gratuity to our order of $17.50 or $2.50 per person which is less about the amount but the principle of an added junk fee. Wish we could have escaped this fee.

Dropped by here while walking around Whaler's Village. We were bored and decided to do one since a spot had opened up. The prices are a bit steep for 2 players. It ran us about $130 after tax. We have never paid this much ever, but it's Maui so what can you do. The staff up front were nice and welcoming. Anyway, I would say we're pretty experienced. We have done 25+ rooms, not escaping only twice. We usually go straight to the hardest room and that's exactly what we did here. Overall, the room is decorated pretty well, but we were not impressed with the puzzles at all. There's probably what felt like maybe 6-7 puzzles in total. We were at a standstill for a little while since there's no real direction and no real story going on for us to figure out. Once we got through the first main step, all the remaining puzzles only took us like 15 minutes to finish. We were opening our very last lock but seemed to be missing one thing. Without spoiling anything, we waited for some assistance since we were stuck. We had done everything so why didn't we have everything? The game master tried to guide us to where it might be. I'm not sure if it's the camera angles but he guided us in the wrong direction for our last 15 minutes. Asking the same question even though we told them we had already done it. In the end, we never got. We were missing that one last item to get out. Underwhelming finale honestly. STOP HERE IF YOU PLAN TO DO THIS ROOM: I also like when everything has a reason in escape rooms. Every piece plays a part. I've never had a room with a "time waster". I feel like if you need one of those you should probably work on making your puzzles harder instead of trying to make us waste time. Overall, not likely that we would be back if we were in Maui. It wasn't the worst experience I've had, but it definitely was not the best.

The t-shirt makes a great souvenir. The logo is very clever, showing the shape of Maui. The games are all excellent and well though out without red herrings and story lines that make sense. The puzzles are challenging and if you are stuck it is very easy to call in and get a clue (from an actual real person!). Price is as expected for anything on Maui. Well worth the memories.

Spent christmas here with my big family of 10 and we split in half and picked prison break, it was most of our first times and it was SO FUN. We had a mix of adults and little kids and teens and we all worked together and we're successful, come here with a big group though because it'll be harder if there's less and I feel like not as fun either. It was nice too because we were able to do something physical and not be on our phones, a really great place to team build and bond!

    We made it!

My kids REALLY wanted to do this when they saw the sign for it. I was hesitant at first due to it being over $250 (they add on automatic gratuity fee, too) for one our of entertainment for my hubby, myself and 4 kids...but figured some time out of the son would be good for us anyways. We did the bunker room as we have 3rd grader up to 7th grader. We all had a great time. It was challenging but fun. Good first escape room to do together as a family!

Had a blast completing the Prison Break!

Really fun especially on a rainy day. Four adults and three kids did the pirate ship in 50 minutes. First escape room for all of us.

Ask the Community - Maui Escape Rooms

Is it scary? I scare very easily. I don't like people jumping out at me and things of this sort. Can someone tell me without spoiling it if it is scary or what the scary parts entail?

Nope! It is not scary. Probably the bunker room is the scariest of them all because it takes place in the dark. (But its not that dark.) You have flashlights but even without the flashlights you can see.

I know you all heard of these escape rooms before and probably have tried them. My son has been wanting to do one for the longest time and to tell you the truth, so have i! On our walk around wailuku last week, we stumbled across Mystery Maui Escape Room....which i have seen before but never did go inside! Well, this time, WE DID! And just so happened that there was an opening for Stella (one of the rooms!) so yes, it was totally meant to be. It was $35 per person for kama`aina and $25 for kids (as of February 2024). We were shown into the "briefing room" so they could explain the room, what to look out for, and we were also given a sample puzzle to figure out! We did it pretty dang fast so i thought, we are gonna do SOOO good at this! After signing the electronic waiver (off the QR code), we were ready to go! There are 2 escape rooms here right now (AND a new room should be opening hopefully in March!!!! Can't wait!!!). One is called Stella and the other is the Ramen Shop. Since Stella was open, that was the one we did. I don't wanna give too much away but it was so much fun. And challenging!!! There are cameras in the room so they are able to see how you are doing and will give you clues if you would like them to. Of course we said YES on that haha!!! Did we finish?! Ummm, JUST IN TIME. We had 29 or so seconds to spare. So much for thinking we were gonna kill it and get outta there in no time! Haha! Fast forward another week and we had to come back for the Ramen Shop! This one was even MORE fun than the Stella Room! Maybe because it had to do with food, i love anything that has to do with food. It was another fun and challenging hour with some help from the Mystery Room owners but we finished!! We even did better this time! Almost 1 min left on the clock! That's a win for us! There's a little "winners area" where you can see the fastest times and can you believe some people made it before 30 minutes?!?!? Dang!!!!! That is impressive!!! If you've been wondering about doing an escape room, stop on by this place!! They are so friendly here and it's so much fun! I believe it's a 2 person minimum and 6 person maximum so def plan ahead and get your escape on!

"Not an Escape Room, Just a Frustrating Candy Hunt"…read more I've done a lot of escape rooms, and I can confidently say this was the worst one I've ever experienced. We booked "Sadie's Sweet Shop" at Room with a Clue expecting a fun, candy-themed escape challenge. Instead, we got a poorly designed scavenger hunt with no story, no urgency, and no objective beyond collecting candy. There is no escape element whatsoever--you're not solving puzzles to get out or to advance a storyline. You're just wandering the room trying to figure out what random combination of props might unlock another piece of candy. It felt like the creator designed puzzles purely for their own amusement, not for the enjoyment of players. Many of the puzzles were confusing not because they were hard, but because they were disconnected, self-indulgent, and illogical. To make things worse, the room was filled with red herrings--not clever misdirections, just pointless distractions that wasted time and made the experience frustrating instead of fun. The whole game lacked cohesion. There was no narrative thread tying things together, no build-up, no satisfying payoff. Just a cluttered space full of unrelated tasks. It felt like a rough draft of an escape room, not something worth charging admission for. Escape room fans: skip this one. Honolulu has much better options. Save your time and money

She loves the idea of escape rooms, but panics when we're in them LOL! I scoured the internet for something we haven't done before and all the escape rooms were either too pricey, wouldn't explain how to escape when we inevitably didn't breakout, or didn't have private escape rooms. Then Google suggested Scaventours which in all my days of searching never appeared! Scaventours is on the ground floor of Marriot Waikiki. Opposite side of the hotel from the Valet. The side with the tour bus pickup. The sign says they're open daily from 9-7 I believe, but you can look up the games and book online. We booked our game morning of and all went well. There's no parking, so we parked at the Zoo like they suggested. We parked at the back half of the zoo (Mauka side) and just followed that road straight pass Denny's. That path lead us straight to the correct hotel entrance to find Scaventours easily. ALSO, the Zoo Parking wasn't taking debit cards and my husband only had a $10. He paid for 2 hours but the machine didn't give change so we got ripped. Be aware of that when parking there. After reading up on the games, I decided we would do Kanaloa's Curse. A scavenger hunt that stayed INSIDE the hotel with various puzzles fit for ages 6-11 even though some of them had me stumped. I appreciate that the game isn't timed and that there was an option to stay inside the hotel because I'm not trying to take my 7yo scavenger hunting on the streets of Waiks. It was super reasonably priced at $23 for my husband and I and $14 for my daughter. We were given the map and a clipboard of puzzles, complimentary pens and candy and we were off. The hunt took us through the ground floor of the hotel finding different things and solving puzzles. It took us just about an hour with my 7yo finding everything and doing every puzzle, so it was PERFECT for her!! At the end, we returned to the store, unlocked the treasure, she got some prizes, and we took photos with the mascot raccoon statue. She was immediately begging to do the rest of the hunts.
