Wow! I didn't know I'd be this in LOVE with my new eyebrows!! If you are considering doing this, Maile is YOUR GIRL! She has a cult following for a reason. 1) I'm a WHIMP and was really nervous about the pain during the appointment. It was totally not as bad as I thought! She puts a numbing agent on you before you get started and lets that soak in for a while. The first two or three minutes of the strokes she does stings just a little bit, but not too bad at all. Then she puts on the good stuff! She put something else on that really makes it all go numb, and you don't really feel much after that. 2) on day two after my initial appointment, I freaked out because the color to me looked like it was way too red. But like Maile tells you, trust the process! Ha That was just scabbing process and not what my eyebrows looked like a few days later 3) I hardly had much scabbing and I had no itching. I was preparing myself for a week of hard healing after my initial appointment and it was a BREEZE! Do what Maile tells you for caring for your eyebrows after you appointment. 4) they will seem a little bigger and/or darker than what you're used to (because obviously you are coming to her because of your possible "lack of" eyebrows) , but after the healing process, they "calm down" a lot... Oh Maui Browi, how I love thee. I can't recommend Maui Browi highly enough. I have never had good brows. Patchy, with limited hair growth in the areas that you actually want it. I've tried it all. Castor oil, shaping, dyeing etc etc, never getting the results I dreamed of. In fact, I had been dying my eyebrows before the pandemic and it helped, but I still had to pencil in areas to try and create some shape (which i was NOT good at). During the pandemic I tried dyeing them myself. Less said about that the better.... So one day, out of pure frustration I started googling options for eyebrows in the South OC area. The heavens opened (also known as Yelp) and there was Maui Browi. I had NEVER considered Microblading before because I had seen my friends microbladed eyebrows and, well, no thank you. But then I saw Maui Browi's pictures, the before and afters. Well hello! THIS is what I've been looking for. Like any diligent over thinker, I immediately went down a rabbit hole of research. I obsessed over all the photos on her Instagram. Played them for every trusted friend I had and finally, I took the plunge and made an appointment. As you know, anything worth having is worth waiting for, and of course Maui Browi is no exception. I waited a year to see her, and given my results, I would have waited 2! Do not let the long wait time dissuade you. Maile lets you know if sooner appointments pop up (cancellations and whatnot). Finally the day was here. Suddenly I was very aware that I was about to semi- permanently alter my face. What if I didn't like it? I let Maile know my concerns and she did everything to calm my nerves. When you first arrive at your appointment she walks you through her process and then you discuss eyebrows, and eyebrow goals. She explained everything to me, assured me that my nerves were normal. She is, quite frankly, just a wonderful human being! What I loved most was that before she does your procedure, she draws your brows on for you. Giving you a chance to see shape, thickness etc. Make adjustments if you need. When she first showed me my freshly drawn on eyebrows, I knew I was in the BEST hands! They looked phenomenal. Not only is Maile an artist in Microblading, she understands face shape and brows. I had never seen my eyebrows look so good. All my nerves were gone. I needed these brows on my face for real. The procedure is relatively quick. There's a little pain at first, but nothing you can't handle (and of course, it's worth it!), but the numbing cream kicks in, and you're good to go. As soon as I saw my new eyebrows I was in love. They are everything I dreamed of and more. I keep having to bring them up in conversation because I need everyone to understand how exceptional they are. Everyone is always shocked to learn they aren't real. That's how beautiful they look. The aftercare process was really easy. I had a little redness and a tiny bit of discomfort the first night, but after that it was smooth sailing. I will say I was diligent with following Maile's aftercare instructions and process. No water. No sweating. No product on them. And I used her products on the brows as instructed. I had no scabbing. The only thing was a slight redness, but only I was able to see it. It was not noticeable to others, and believe me, I asked. They darkened after the first appointment, like Maile said they would. It wasn't odd or anything, just looked like I'd done my eyebrows for a night out vs a more natural look. They settled in about 7 days later. My touch up appointment was even easier than the first one, and again I followed the after care process to a T! If you're on the fence about going with Maui Browi and taking the Microblading plunge, I can't tell you how glad I am that I did. And I think you will be too. If I could give this 10 stars I would. I bow down to my Fairy Brow Mother, Maile! I have been filling in my eyebrows since I can remember, they have been plucked down to nothing. Now that life has taken us on Zoom for most interactions I've been looking into micro blading for a few months. After seeing Maile's craft in her before and after pictures, I finally made the plunge and reached out to her for an appointment. Not only was she responsive, very professional, detail oriented... her calming, no pressure demeanor made me feel comfortable doing such a permanent treatment. Once I arrived felt at ease in her beyond chic office, where she spent about 30 minutes discussing the process- everything from what to expect, how it will feel, post treatment care (including an adorable take home kit that I'm obsessed with!) Her room is immaculate, everything is hospital grade sterilized and I love that she uses vegan ink, a newer higher quality ink. She also mixes her own colors to match your tone perfectly! Then we are all ready to start. I laid down on a comfortable table for the transformation to begin.... During the procedure the "painful part" is truly not bad at all. She uses numbing cream at a specific temperature. I still expected to feel pain but it's more like a little scraping and the noise was more prominent then anything, although not irritating, just more noticeable.
