During the tour, we got to sample the chocolate at different stages of the process. Every sample had its own distinct flavor, and they were all so good! After the tour, we got to try seven different chocolates, including flavors like coffee, mango, and sugar-free. Everything tasted so fresh and flavorful compared to your typical Hershey bar. I learned so much about the plants, the natural growing methods Maui Chocolate uses and the process of refining Cocoa into chocolate. The tasting after the orchard tour was in a tree house above the orchards offering beautiful views of the orchard, views of Molokai and Lanai. Once you have tasted Maui Chocolate you won't eat anything else, you shouldn't because you are eating pure coco with only natural ingredients prepared the Maui Chocolate way. Do the tour, whether it's the factory tour or the orchard tour (I am a freak about gardening and growing) so I wanted to learn more about the trees and methods and I truly learned a lot about their natural growing methods. From there we all chatted away until we got to the breakfast spot inside a mall area where they had fabulous coffee and an amazing blondie muffin. We gathered more guests there and off we went! Junior was damn good with his charisma, banter, and friendliness. Sometimes people don't get the locals personalities, but we did so we had an awesome time going back and forth with him. Junior was a great driver, safe and courteous and stopped at every single place on the map except the state park since it was closed. No big deal. We got banana bread at Halfway to Hana and saw a ton of waterfalls. I even jumped off one. We saw turtles during their incubation period and the black sand beach was stunning. The turkey wrap lunches were meh, but honestly I wasn't even hungry I just wanted to be out there and explore. We recently took the Deluxe Hāna Tour with our family, and unfortunately, it was a very mixed…read moreexperience. The Road to Hāna itself is absolutely beautiful, and we genuinely enjoyed the scenery and the many stops along the way. Bryce was also helpful when my family expressed concerns about slipping while trying to reach the larger waterfall. He personally helped us down to a lower waterfall, which we appreciated. However, I feel it is extremely important to be completely honest about the driving because this was not simply a case of the driving "feeling" fast or unnerving. Bryce nearly rear-ended other vehicles multiple times. On several occasions, he was following so closely that there was very little stopping distance between our vehicle and the vehicle in front of us. He also was, in fact, driving at approximately three times the posted speed limit at certain points, despite the roads being extremely wet, narrow, winding, and windy. We understand that the Road to Hāna can have hazards such as falling rocks and mudslides and that tour drivers need to keep the vehicle moving. However, that does not make driving at those speeds on wet, winding roads feel safe. There were multiple moments when our entire family was genuinely frightened. When we expressed our concerns, we were told to "just close our eyes." That was not reassuring at all. What made the situation even more concerning was that after nearly colliding with other vehicles, there were no apologies or acknowledgment of how serious the situation was. Instead, Bryce would laugh it off and make comments about tourists being bad drivers. At one point, he even joked that he had a "spare bumper in the back." Considering we were already frightened by the driving, that comment did not come across as funny--it made us even more uncomfortable about how seriously our safety was being taken. Aside from the driving, we also had a major issue with the timing of lunch. We passed the lunch location around noon but were not actually given lunch until after 2:30 PM. By then, our family was starving. The sandwiches and drinks were also lukewarm, as the coolers did not appear to have ice in them. Because lunch was provided so late, we also missed the opportunity to get Huli Huli chicken because the stand was already sold out by the time we got there. Despite these issues, we did enjoy the beautiful views, the waterfalls, and the various stops throughout the tour. There were definitely parts of the experience that we will remember fondly. Overall, I would say the tour had the potential to be an incredible family experience, but the driving was a serious safety concern that overshadowed much of the day for us. I hope the company takes these concerns seriously, particularly when it comes to vehicle speed, following distance, and how guests' safety concerns are handled. The Road to Hāna is beautiful and worth experiencing, but families should be able to enjoy it without being afraid for their safety.

Overall the tour was educational, but not really structured…read more We arrived and were met by the guide who was full of energy...and for the sake of me, I can't remember his name..I think Ryan...but you'll know him when you see him. As an incentive planner, I try to find cool, unique and elevated experiences for my clients. I bought these tickets myself without any VIP or comps for me and my family to get the real experience. Here's the "not so good" - it just wasn't structured. We kind of hopped around without a solid plan, but by no means did we not get questions answered or not see what we wanted to. It's a very large farm, so we didn't see the entirety of it, but this is where a golf cart, or some sort of tram would be appropriate for small or medium groups, especially since we wanted to see parts of the farm that looked less traversed and more remote. Also...price. This was not worth the price we paid. A price point of $20-$35 would be more appropriate for the tour, whether 5 or 20 guests. I don't think we'd return anytime soon for this price point, but the guide was a great guy and really makes the tour more interesting. They just need more guidance and consulting on how to make a more professional tour structure, visuals, etc. as you would see on most any other tour around the world. The little trailer they have for meals is nice, but we did not eat on site on this visit. This is great for 5-10 guests...anymore would be a little challenging without a tram as it's 100% walking. The kids had a great time and were so thrilled to taste nuts and fresh coconut water right from the shell too! We walked about 2 miles in total but it was a nice leisurely stroll at our pace. He was in no rush, but kept to a good tempo. I think he wants to really expand this tour and grow more in to the region. I would say his love of the land can somewhat encompass the overall tour, but it was very good...I do hope he does incorporate more on how these nuts are formed, some visuals, maybe a small video of some sort as an intro for those who have never had or seen the nuts before. I would encourage him to provide stats as in to how many are grown, shipped, exported, uses and more as part of the tour. This is a great way to spend 1-2 hours learning about macadamia nuts, coconuts, and his love of farming and the land we live on. He's a Hawaiian hippie, but proud to be who he is and we loved that! It made the experience that much better and working with guys like him all my decades, I get and understand him. He did not rush us and he was receptive...but this just needs more structure and a lower price point.
