I can't really give a real rating because I didn't get my hair cut there. But why would I when the receptionist was so uninviting?
I hadn't even read the reviews before I visited, so I had no opinion when I went in.
I walk in and I'm not even greeted with a "Hello, how are you?" Or even a welcoming smile. So I go up to the desk and tell the receptionist that I would just like a price range. She asked if I was a regular client, I said no. I went on to tell her that I would like the back of my hair taken in a little bit and razored and just want to know how much it would cost (I had my hair cut short a few months ago and the back seems to be growing much faster and longer than the rest). She rudely said to me with a bit of an attitude, "Well, a haircut is a haircut."
Exact words. She then looked at her computer and said our cheapest price would be $31. (Which I now know, only after looking up online, would be done by a student, NOT a professional).
I said thank you and began to walk out. She didn't even try to stop me, she did not ask for my name or ask if I would like to make an appointment.
As a receptionist myself who works at a boutique, I understand how a potential customer is to be treated. I don't know what's going on in her life but from my personal experience as a receptionist, it doesn't matter. When you go to work as a receptionist, no matter what personal problems, your job is to be warm and welcoming to clients. You should greet them with sincere kindness and if you're NOT interested in making the client feel welcome so that they want to spend their hard earned money there, then you probably shouldn't be a receptionist.
It's not that difficult to be polite, smile at a customer and say hello.
Just my opinion. At first I was only slightly offended by her unwelcoming behavior but after reading all these awful reviews it simply irks me that Maude does not seem to care enough about their reputation for making clients feel unwelcome, and it seems that they have not made much of an effort to train their staff to be more polite.
The receptionist should have at least greeted me politely. Also, I did not ask for the "cheapest" price. I asked for a price range. For her to give me such a snarky comment and assume that I need the cheapest price is just rude and arrogant. And I also should have been informed on how the level of each stylist is different and that is why the price is $31, because the stylist is still a student. Again, just my opinion, and maybe if it'd had been a different receptionist I'd have had a different greeting. However, with this many horrid reviews, you'd think they'd have begun to train their associates in some customer service skills. read more
