The ambiance is a turn of the century brick firehouse. Hubby & I ordered the Firehouse Sampler ($34.95) with 2 sides (mac n cheese, scalloped cabbage). My son got the Pulled Pork ($14.95) with 2 sides (mac n cheese, green beans). Both of these meals needed garlic bread served with them. There were 3 made in-house bbq sauces & they were all bland. Sadly, there was no Carolina gold bbq sauce. The meat was good but a little dry. Of the 3 sides we tried, the green beans were the best. I would like to return & try something on the Handhelds menu. I need bread with my bbq meat!

You have an experience that will please any pallet. I love it that they have three different barbecue sauces for you to choose from, Hot, sweet and mild. To me it lets you choose the flavors you like because one has a little more of a brown sugar taste and the other has a little more of a vinegar taste. I like to dip my sandwich. I got the visit in the evening and introduce a friend from Michigan to one of my favorite restaurants. He was so happy with a brisket. There is so much history and so many cool things to read on the walls. The decor is charming and it's an awesome place to sit and have a beer and catch up with a friend afterwards. It's my favorite for lunch and dinner in the depot district.

I am shocked that a small Midwest town in Indiana near the Ohio border had such phenomenal BBQ!…read more I have made 2 visits and both of them have been exceptional! My first visit, I chose the Barnyard Burner Burger special. It came with pulled pork, spicy BBQ sauce, and cheese. But what was amazing about the burger was how soft, fresh, and smoky the hamburger meat was! I hadn't had a burger like this in years! I even liked it more than the BBQ, which if you follow my Yelp...that is very high praise! This week, I had the pulled pork and brisket with potato salad and beans. All phenomenal! The pulled pork is perfectly tender and smoky! I liked the pork more than the brisket but the brisket is 4 stars on its own. The potato salad has a lightly sweet mustard base to it with some eggs and relish mixed in. I enjoyed the beans more than the potato salad as the beans were in some kind of sweet and smoky conglomeration made in the back with brown sugar as a key ingredient. There are 4 sauces and I usually try to rank sauces, but I couldn't do it with these. They are all worthy on their own merit. The four sauces and a brief description are: Classic - mildly sweet tomato with a little pepper Sweet and Smoky - very sweet with a smoky taste and ketchup base Tangy - part vinegar, part tomato, all tangy Sue Tang - spicy mild to medium BBQ sauce, tomato base The one downside and it's common being a Southerner in the Mid-West is there is usually no sweet tea and if there is, it isn't sweet enough. They told me their tea maker was broke but there is a Kroger that has Milo's Sweet Tea that I have been allowed to carry in both times. Make a trip to Bluffton for Yergy's BBQ or Burgers. They are only open Thursday-Sunday.

We ordered: Pulled Pork Piglet Sandwich w/ Green Beans, Cole Slaw, & Sweet Tea $10.75 ($11.61 w/ 8% tax, $13.22 w/ 15% tip) *Lighter and more mild flavors in all of these Beef Brisket Piglet Sandwich w/ Corn Casserole, Mashed Potatoes w/ Beef Gravy, & Lemonade (same prices as above) *All of these were favorites and the most flavorful of the day The food was ready in under 6min after ordering and we were in and out in under 30min while sitting down for lunch and taking our time to eat around noon on a Friday. If you're unsure of the spicy, they have spicy sauce on the table to try, but I'll say it was a mild spice (Indiana doesn't do lots of spicy things) so the heat doesn't rise above red pepper flake spice. You could add more heat with Tabasco to get it to a spice that makes the tongue actually feel hot. The ladies running the kitchen and clean up were fun and delightful and made us feel like we were home in someone's house being taken care of. Not sure when I'll ever be back in this area, but worth a stop and skipping all the other fast food nearby to try this local spot!!

That is why it pains me to be giving this 3-star review. It's not that anything was bad, but after all the hype, we just weren't impressed. Let me start off by saying that the space is very cool. I loved the dark, swamp-themed mural painted on the wall, the banging playlist and the inclusion of a bar in the back as well as the ice cream counter. The staff were jovial, accommodating and extremely pleasant to interact with. My husband and I both ordered 1/2 slab rib combos. My 1/2 was much larger/meatier than his, so we swapped. The combo comes with two sides. We both ordered the baked beans, he had the coleslaw, and I had the macaroni and cheese. Categorically, everything was ok...good even, but not great or amazing, which were the words that we'd heard from others. Perhaps we didn't order the right items. The ribs were beautiful with the perfect smoke ring. They were seasoned well, but they were not as tender as I would've liked. I like my ribs to be fall-off-the-bone tender, but I know that isn't necessarily the industry standard. The sauce options were mild and hot, but I could barely distinguish the difference between the two. Hot is not spicy. The macaroni and cheese could've used some salt and pepper, but the baked beans were spot-on. The beans were on the sweet side, which is just how I like them. The platter is also served with soft, buttery, rolls with garlic.
