Literally the worst coffee i've ever experienced. Ive tried to give it a few chances but have had to dump my coffee out every single time after 1 or 2 sips. Have tried their latte, iced coffee, and iced americano. All equally rancid. This is our favourite local coffee shop where our fav barista Amy greets us early in the morning. We are so sad that our favorite apricot/cranberry square are no longer available. A good second is the lemon loaf, similar to the one at Starbucks. Their coffee is lovely and we will keep visiting. Bring back the squares please! Lol read more

We stopped by this coffee shop and it was busy. Service was a bit disorganized as the baristas were not making drinks in order and drinks were taking awhile to be prepared. It seemed like a really green team of staff working. There was one girl packaging the cookies into individual items while there was a long line up. She could have helped the line up somehow. Also, I realized all their baked goods are from suppliers. I ordered an oat latte and it tasted as expected. The coffee shop has an extensive flavour shot list to choose from. I only ever come here because of convenience and every time I regret it. I generally get an Americano and aside from the coffee tasting bad it always tastes weak and watery. I suspect they only add more water for each size instead of an extra espresso shot, but that's just a guess. Food here is not any better and way overpriced. The service is a little cold too like others have mentioned but I barely care about that in a coffee shop if the coffee is actually good On the plus side the seating area is nice and comfortable but still don't understand why so many people are there when the product is so bad. read more

Looks cute and on a beautifully sunny fall day I thought I'd stop in for first time. Service was fine, standard, not personable or friendly though. I hoped for vegan/gf options. There was a cookie and I bought it, took a couple bites and realized it was old. I asked the staff If they knew how old it was and they both looked challenged and couldn't give me a date! I worked in cafes for years and I knew the date of every item. Eventually they decided upon "I don't know maybe a week". So I left it there with them; They should have apologized for not knowing exactly, at Least, and at most they could have offered me a newer one or a refund. They didn't know what to say so I left. Coffee, black Americano, can't disguise a weak shot in that... I think on a different day or time my experience might have been better but I don't think il go out of my way to go here again. read more

Great lemon squares, but I'm easy to please in that regard. The lack of stars is due to an atrocity that was committed. I went in for a bubble tea as advertised, and they informed me that they do not stock tapioca pearls during the winter. WTF? Needless to say, I drove to another bubble tea shop. I went to this nice little coffee shop with my friend because it was in a convenient spot. It surprised me, the place is very welcoming with soft music, low lighting and amazing coffee. I had an iced latte and I haven't had one in a while and it's just as I remember bringing me back to the good old' times. Firstly maybe all these bad reviews were from long time ago but as of 10/01/21 this place rocks. The staff is incredibly patient and kind. I mean people sit in this place all day just drinking coffee or tea and hanging out. The staff is always friendly and cool. I literally plug in my computer and sit in this place for hours just drinking 1 tea and these people let me do that. That's some 5 star service right there. Ignore any rating less than 4 stars. Oh my sandwich is too cold. The workers are very rude. My wife is a loyal customer and greets the workers whenever she walks in but does not get greeted back. They seem like they do no like their job or the customers. There was one worker that is constantly rude that is a cashier. She has long black hair. read more

Been here about 6 times ...every time it manages to provide the worst service mostly it's just the rude staff either not acknowledging you or just being plain rude. Consistently bad customer service but we go because the location isconvenient. Staff usually vacuums around our table an hour before closing. Both bathrooms were out of order tonight so a party from our table went to the staff bathroom next door and the staff ran over and pounded on the door and YELLED at her to get out. I tried to order something baked from the case and was told I couldn't because it was still frozen. Also, their lattes aren't as good as the Mattus in the mall. Do NOT RECOMMEND. Mattu's is right next to my workplace, and I have been there several times now. In each of my experiences, the customer service has been quite decent and quick. I feel the pricing is appropriate, and the menu is great, although I have only ordered a few items so far. My favorite drink is the Italian Milkshake, in which the customer may choose any of the numerous flavourings, including maple, chocolate, coconut, and many others. So far as I have seen, the sitting area is kept clean and tidy, and the chairs are fairly comfortable. There is a television on the ceiling in a corner, but it's not distracting. Outside seating is also available. Overall, I am glad this coffee shop is near me, and I will continue to visit. read more

Either the beans and milk were old or the girls that work here don't know how to pull an espresso. Same with the icecream - tasted as if it was once melted and frozen again. me and my friend loved this coffee shop! it's very accessible and has lots of other things to do around it. the coffee i had was delicious, one of the best i've had in long time. watch out for the dairy , they're a bit heavy on the milk; if you're lactose sensitive/lactose intolerant maybe get a different type of milk they have plenty to choose, from almond to soy. The setting was very pleasing, light music, dim room with comforting fire and a Roomy interior. everything was very cleanly and well kept after. definitely recommend for any coffee/tea lover out there! read more

We've been to Mattu's several times due to it's convenient location so we've had several items from their menu. Each time we have been back we have ordered something different but the food and drinks are still not good. On the most recent visit, we ordered an iced americano which tasted like urine, it was as if they used old coffee beans to make it. The cream of broccoli soup was way too salty and had huge clumps of undissolved cream. The london fog is very sweet, so be aware of that if that is your favourite drink. The breakfast croissants are very bland, we would not recommend. Prices here are not cheap given the quality of food. read more

I went in there to study because it's a perfect place for that and I have done it for one full year now. I always get a hot chocolate (sometimes two depending how long I'm there) and banana bread! I went in to sit down and planned to be there for a couple hours to study and had to answer phone calls for school and hours for work with everything being changed! I was very rudely interrupted by one of the two girls working there about how I NEED to order and loitering is unacceptable! I explained that I'm on the phone as she rudely interrupted me and I will as soon as I'm done, like I've ALWAYS DONE! She said I need to because no loitering is allowed! I understand going into a business and not ordering is a big upset to employees as that spot could be used for paying customers! Why I'm so mad is because I've gone here for a year! Always order and love the food, that i the reason this has two stars and because the girls in the past have really been amazing all the time! Its March 16 (Monday) and I was there at 12 in the afternoon, DID NOT LIKE THE STAFF ON THIS DAY! I'm not going THERE EVER again with that interaction and how the two talked about what I'm assuming was me put me in an EXTREMELY uncomfortable environment! Literally my favorite place to go study and have a hot chocolate but after that I am shocked and never going there again! Give customers at least 10 minutes to go order before you even decide to go to them, not that you even should! I don't know if this is acceptable behavior from the staff but I've never been told to not loiter at any place which is again why I'm so shocked this even happened, because I'm always given at least 20 minutes to sit with any study mates or friends, then we go order and everything is fine! Not sure if this is new staff and maybe need training on how to deal with someone in this situation. I have never felt so homeless in my life! Just how she came to me as if there was no way I could pay! I wasn't wearing any ripped clothing or had mud on my face! I have never written a review about any business but this was one of the worst experiences ever and I can't believe I feel worthless. Staff 0/10 easily, at least on this day, I haven't even made myself known or introduced myself to them yet and they just come at me like they KNOW I WONT PAY! Food and drinks are always 9/10. Also want to make clear that my family (have lived down the road from here for a long time) have all come here too, I've asked them about the reviews here and they said they go in and it's lovely and sometimes when they want to talk and just don't order anything it's not even an issue but they have only done that once because again, we always get food (for the past year) not just a drink! Paying, returning and frequent customers should be treated with respect in any business as they support it and I'm done giving my support here. I've been there many times with my friends because it's the only coffee shop in the neighbourhood that closes until 10pm besides Starbucks. Food and drinks are good. Unfortunately, the last couple of times the ladies started to clean up the floor before 9:30pm they were vacuuming beside our table, very noisy and uncomfortable. I understand they want to go home as soon as possible and staring the cleaning before closing saves time, but the vacuum was too much and kind of rude. read more

I've been going to Mattus for over 5 years now, and the last view months I've visited, I've noticed a difference in the atmosphere. You can tell right off the bat that the girls working are not being treated well, I myself have seen the manager talking extremely rudely and ordering them around to the point where they're almost in tears. The manager takes customers orders with no emotion or a care in the world of how their days went. You can clearly see she doesn't care for her customers or her employees and is strictly in this for the money. The store is nice inside. However we haven't had such rude baristas anywhere aside from the Mattus in the mall. They are the same. Not all but 75% of the staff are unpleasant to deal with. They are mostly young women who make you feel like they are doing your a favour to wait on you. We try to make small talk with them but they don't have any of it. They don't smile, barely say thank you, and if you forget to ask for something in the beginning, well good luck to you. When I forget and have to ask for it later they act like it's the most horrible inconvenience ever. The manager needs a hidden camera that the workers aren't aware of. Then they need to watch footage of how horribly the customers are treated. Why do we keep going back? Because there's only two stores. The other one is in the mall so not always open. And like I said it's the same staff wise. Unfriendly. We get coffee a lot. Spend a lot of money to be treated rudely. read more
